Q:

DON’T BUY AN HFIRE TANK!!!!!

w/their rifle?? I’ve ordered one but would like to hear from anyone already using one. For those that don’t know, it’s a tank that allows fills up to 4300 psi. Just wondering what you guys are shooting caliber-wise, velocity, number of shots, what you fill/re-fill to. That kind of stuff. Thanks to all!

Well taken!

Its more of a matter of… “better safe than sorry”?

And what are our original bottles tested to? Hummm???

That’s what I thought. Speculation and fear mongering to cya . I don’t’ blame them, I would do the same. But for personal use, Dot legal has Nothing to do with if filling for your self.

Nothing we haven’t heard before. Just put in a different way. Kinda made it sound more official for a little bit. But in the end. Just another The Sky Is Falling Bottle filling thread.

Seems they pop up about every six months or so on just about all the AG Forums.

You know… what if we all pitched in?? That way we’ll know once and for all…

I talked to Tony. It’s not that the tank won’t hold it, it’s the fact that without a DOT number they are not legal. Liability for him to sell.

If someone really wants to know there is a place that will test to destruction. I think it was $200 to blowup 2 air tube setups.
So maybe $100 or so for a tank plus the tank price.

I can find out if anybody wants to really do a test and see when they pop. Would need to pop at right around 13,000 psi to be 3:1 like other tanks.

Yeah, but Tony’s a long time Admin on the TAG, and an AF builder. Like Dman said- Tony has no reason to BS… I’m not putting anything on Tony- But knife, you do have a point… I too would like to know what-all went into the tests, and what they tested for.

I would really like to know exactly WHAT the test perimeters were in Tony’s Guy’s test!

Was the bottle tested to failure? How exactly did they set the limit?

As Hoot would say, Huh?-Huh? I want to know!!!

If it were tested to failure, fine. If to unacceptable swelling, fine. Otherwise, I don’t buy a word of it!

So far, if sounds like personal opinion. Not test results.

Ah Yes,,,
Those regrettable, infamous last two words most oft-spoken prior to many catostrophic but avoidible events!
Only two other words exceed in terms of popularity…. The two words uttered during those times of catostrophy… “Oh Shit!”

Hmmmm… I might just have to say fuck it, and try it out….

It is like the Talon tanks we both received…

So I assume the 30 MPA tank is the Talon-like tank I just received? Or are those both Carbon-wrapped tanks?

The same MFG that Dman got his bottles from offers the same tank Hfire is selling and the tanks are rated as follows off their site.

30MPA working pressure = 4300psi, 45MPA test = 6526psi and burst is 85MPA = 12,328psi

Oh- I wasn’t saying Tony was BS’ing, I was thinking more like, since the tanks aren’t certified, maybe the testers wouldn’t go higher than 3k… I’m not sure if that even makes any sense…

quote Caboose212:

I’m still wondering though- were Tony’s tests accurate, and these HFIRE tanks are really only a 3k tank? Or is the HFIRE tank a legit 4350 tank? I mean, based off of knife’s work w/his rifle, I’d only need 3800 psi…

Tony doesn’t have any reason to BS…. they would be beneficial to him if they were legit.

I only saw a few pics from amazon. they look like a regular bottle that maybe a touch thicker.
