Honestly I’m “astonished” and sorry for my lack of experience of big bore airguns.
Personally I wasn’t considering the .357 cal as a precision rifle bullet, neither for big bore airguns nor for PB.

“We should look for 1.5 inches groups at 100 meters…” and I don’t agree, we should look for one hole groups….
Now if we speak about a bullpup airgun that “became” a big bore during it’s evolution then I’m quite impressed about the energy and accuracy it delivers (maybe not best in class but I’m still impressed, obviously others have to prove to do better)
Let’s wait and see what others looking for precision shooting can make out of this tool and then we will reach the conclusions.
Well if I had to choose a big bore bullpup airgun today then it would certainly be a .357 Rainstorm grouping 1.5 inches at 100 meters at the price at it comes and out of the box.

If I wanted to get a .357 that would shoot that good at 100 Yards I would get a bullet shooter, a nice Recluse tuned up to 200 FPE would be my choice

You need to win the barrel lottery to be able to achieve that. There are some rather crappy Evanix barrels out there as they come from the factory. Sometimes even extensive lapping won’t fix all the problems. It’s more like 3-5″ groups with some of them barrels.
Remember those PB guys have the the bullet exit the barrel ways faster than airguns

I agree recoil will become a factor, but should be manageable I think. After all, good PB shooters are capable of sub 1 MoA at 100 yrds (basically 1″) with guns that have far more recoil. What I mean is recoil is something you can work on and reduce to a level below 1 MoA.
The recoil on the big bores is definitely a contender in the groups we are seeing. I notice it between my 22 & 25 crickets. The 25 needs special or more care in holding it. If its not anchored in the shoulder properly your groups will suffer. So maybe someone needs to put it in a vise and test it

One hole at 100 yards even with those High End super Euro sensations in .25 and .22 is just something you don’t see.
Once you start adding the significant recoil you get in a .357 Airgun you’ll soon realise that matching groups of a basically recoiless small bore it’s a far fetched proposition.
I took the 1.5″ as a benchmark since the 1″ Group at 100 yards is what small bores are looking for, so I figured that would be a nice even number to start with.
A .750 group at 50 yards is completely covered by a Quarter, I’m pretty darn happy when I put five .357 pellets on paper and make that hole disappear covering it with a Quarter,
I’m sure that if you try it it will give you a fuzzy feeling :biggrinn: :biggrinn:

a group is a group regardless of cal and those are just average..
Why do we lower the standard on big bores. Why should it be less accurate than our 25 cal crickets. Mine shoots one hole at 38 yards with ease

Absolutely, I believe that was 50 Yards, the 1st video, the Spanish one didn’t look 50 yards to me.
DavidG used to give me all kinds of crap because my Rainstorm .357 Grouped .750 at 50 yards and in his opinion that is not good grouping,
I say that at least a .750 at 50 yards and 1.5 at 100 yards is what we should look for groups in Big Bores.
I don’t see those groups at being all that good at all.
This is what they say:
50 meters grouped at 1 1/2 inches (4cm)
100 meters grouped at 2 3/4 inches (7 cm)
If those groups are bad then I stand corrected, sorry but not much experience with big bores.
Those people are very well known in France and review a lot of guns so if they say 50 meters probably it’s 50 meters…..

Me neither. For real precision people here use either 6mm (ppc,br or xc) or the venerable 6.5×55 Swedish. No one uses a .35 cal for that.
