Q:

New cricket mount

Starting to put some pieces together. Looks like I’m going to have to go the poor mans route and start with this setup and work myself from there. It works very well but would like to have gun in the cab more. I mounted the bottom quick attach you find on the atlas bipod on camera mount. I can quickly detach and attach what ever I like in mere seconds.

See if this link works. Otherwise just do a search for David Lanting. There are a few airgun videos but mostly my hawking videos. Enjoy.
I am due to hook up the scope cam again.

This is how I have been shooting during the cold weather. I made a shelf that rests on my center console and spans the passenger seat and rests on the armrest of the passenger door. For now I have a small scrap of carpet for the guns to lay on but I plan to get some yoga mat material and glue it right to the shelf.
For my window I just put a small piece of pipe insulation over it and shoot away.
Sometimes I use the bipod when I have the scope cam hooked up, otherwise I just reach for the appropriate weapon, .177 compact for starlings ans sparrows and .22 Edgun, or Cricket, (not shown) for pigeons.

Hey squirrelly do you have a youtube channel?

… back to the subject at hand! eelect, where did you get the camera mount and windshield adapter? I gotta have one of those! I probably do over half of my shooting out the window of my truck!

Camera mount of choice is found here or that least give you a clear picture of what it looks like

Its all metal and well built. It also only pivots one direction. If you want another axis of control you can always get one with that option. I think its best that way I’m using it.
I bought this to attach my gun to mount. Quick and easy. I used 10-32 counter sunk screws to attach to camera mount. I drilled and tapped holes and added a nut for good measure to keep it from getting loose.

Yep! that’s what I’m gonna do. I’ve got an ’06 Z71ranch truck that looks exactly like that. I’m going to build one of those for it, and another for my Ford… bet they’re not close enough to be able to use the same one. Yoga mat material is perfect. Can cut out a little hole for spare magazines and/or pellet tin… Got the gears turning now!

Thanks again!
Charlie

I get teased a lot and asked if I ever go outside to shoot. 😆 It can scare em off…

I like it. I may have time to build something like that also. If I’m not shooting from my breakfast room window I’m shooting from my truck window.

I screwed a small block of wood to the underside of the shelf and it simply drops into the hand hold of the door handle/armrest. I store my foam protection in the grab rail above the glove box.
Just don’t open the door when the shelf is in place. All hell breaks loose, lol.

Wow Squirrrley! Those are both great ideas! I’m going to try to build me a plaform like that too! That’s even better than the shooting sticks, can move the gun around as necessary when you got a bigger platform like that. You put anything on the platform that helps keep it on the arm rest on the door?

That foam idea is perfect too! I have already scratched the AT pretty bad letting it ride on the top of my truck window… I’m either going to do exactly what you did, or cut a piece of foam and just attach it to the AT, maybe put a rubber band or 2 on it to keep it in place!

Thanks for the ideas. :8:

Oh and for shooting out the passengers window from the driver’s side, I have one of those Primos bipod trigger sticks that I set up between my passenger seat and the console on my F150. It works like a champ. Just have to be careful on close shots at things on the ground or near the ground that you don’t shoot your door/window by aiming with the scope clearly but having the barrel below the edge of the door… been close a couple of times but so far, I’ve gotten lucky.
