Q:

FX .30 Impact in the house in silver

Wow I’m impressed so far, only had 30 min to mess with it.

Love the telescoping shroud ( air tight with no slop ) slide out over 7″ so the OAL is from 29 7/8″ to 36″, it’s quieter then a 9mm cricket at 70fpe with shroud fully extended. Out of the box shooting the 44g at 860fps in max on power wheel in minimum 615fps.

14 shot mag!!!!!!

has a guage showing the current reg pressure—great for adjusting the pressure.

Feels vary solid — no noticeable flexing.

The trigger is no better then the 400,500&boss, the lowest I can get the trigger to go off on the 2nd stage break is 1 lbs 2oz you go lower then that the blade will not reset forward. I can live with it— knowing me I’m going to mess with it.

That’s all for now, when I get done with all the tunes before Xmas (Zunk also)I will make full video in disassembly, repair and tuning and making custom parts.

nice consistent fps spread you should be very happy with that

Finally got time to test the shot count and ES at power wheel at max and adjusted to get max Spring compression and VS tensioner adjusted till speed is max out on 145 reg pressure. In stock form I would think shot count would be over 50 shots. Over all it’s a great shot count. With limited reg pressure chamber size—I don’t think the speed will not get over 900fps, don’t recommend increaing the reg setting.

Fill pressure 250b
End pressure 145b
Weighted pellet at 45.2g
Shot count 47
High 878
Low 868
ES 10 fps

Earnest, would you tell us your impression of the Impact as it relates to loudness with the telescoping shroud? In your opinion is this an Accurate platform at 100yds??

Larry, there are vedios out there showing the loudness of the shroud–but the recorded sound level isn’t accurate it’s more quite in person.

As per .30 cal in power level #5 and max is a little louder then a .25 cricket shooting at 48fpe with stock shroud, they sounded totaly different in tone but level almost the same.

The impact has no spring or hammer slap like the cricket or Edgun

Without the shroud extended to me it’s backyard friendly in power level 3 to min. Extended its vary quiet report—don’t shoot/hit anything that will make noise louder then the report.

Haven’t tested over 100y in paper, with 2″ spinners it’s easy, but no two barrels shoot alike–some more accurate then others—even if it’s a smooth twist. I’m vary happy at 75y accuracy.

It’s vary Covenant to extend when ever you want to–no need to screw on or off an extension.

A video to fine adjust the power wheel to get max fps for the .30 cal.

factory setting at max before adjustment 855fps after adjustment 880fps with 45g.

note: if you switch caliber to .22 or .25 the max power level is going to be to much —– so adjust the front VS adjuster to lower the power that is suited for the smaller cal.

Four calibers on one platform? For me it is just too confusing especially having to match fps with pellet/pellet weight/barrel along with optimal reg function and too boot making all these things work under different calibers? There are just too many variables already when hunting over long and short distances or even target shooting. Wind, Elevation, Altitude, temperatures and temperature and wind changes over your trajectory on top of remembering all this about the calibers. Sheeeesh cake for an Ernest Rowe because he already mastered this on a few of his own rifles Multi Caliber barrels and Multi Caliber Probes I have shot a few of these. I am an accuracy idiot and keeping track of all this for me is too much.

Biggest issue I see is, even if they machined the retaining divot on the barrel properly and with good tooling equipment, and if they used a proper set screw with an un threaded end that tightly contacted the divot in the barrel, the dam thing is still going to waller out over time and cause poi issues…

If I bought one or was going to buy one id definitely have a second clamping point machined if there is even enough room to do so.

I own four switch barreled pb’s. Three work well (custom built, tools required) one is a pain and needs tuning often (factory built no tools needed)

Can’t say I didn’t warn you guys. Sako is a way better company compared to FX and the Sako quad is not as accurate as their standard rimfire

Pretty weak way to secure a barrel. Going that route they should’ve spent the extra nickel on better hardware :fishinghole:

I know someone that has had a impact for 2 months and it didn’t last a month before it broke. Not sure what’s wrong with it.

haha… Yeah, I was accused as being a mole for FX to do promotion for this rifle and I can confirm that I never got a call to send me anything so yeah Im just a no-one like everyone else…. well except Ernest, Ted, Michael or whom ever gets free service and products.

quote Zonk:

That said—-> Fredrik is the only one that called me and apologized and offered to replace the barrel and corrective action has been corrected on the issue. Now that’s a man that really care about his product and reputation.

Wow I didn’t get service like that………………………….. :sadn:

Zonk of course you didn’t you’re not valuable to Fredrik in terms of sales. Mr Axelsson knows that a lot of TAG members respect Ernest and his opinion so us plebs should not hold our breath for Fred’s phone call if something goes wrong with our super soaker.

.22 Bobcat………but I was talking about my Vulcan. Why do you ask?

I was right it has a long VS assembly, so here’s a video of that leaky oring, couldn’t find a small oring to replace it but temp fix by lapping some talon tape under the oring till i got the right resident. Tested sat so far with no blow back of air—maybe enough time till I find a right oring size, but I also mention that to Fredrik and his sending me some orings — but if the new oring has blow by a larger oring is needed or a ID oring in the rear block–but don’t think so—thats going to be a small oring groove to cut.

Putting out high end guns again that don’t shoot right?

What a DEAL
