Q:

Conflicting info from experts

I just recieved my .22 condor. I am interested in having it tuned and putting a .25 barrel on it. I ran across TalonTunes early on in my prebuy research. I have heard only good things about his mods except from my dealer. The gunsmith at my dealer said that the mods are dangerous and will reduce the life of the gun to about 1000 shots. He also said that the pricing for the mods is way out of line. Since I am extremely new to this area can you experienced users help clear this up for me?

Hes busy sorting out all the messed up, 1000 shot condors…. 🙄 LOL

Yet to see anyone whos got negative feedback on him….

Wow Harry I think you may have said it best when you said Tony has a 10-12 week back log in front of him. …………..Here we are in this not so good economic times and here’s a man who does work in a field that demands discretionary spending (mad money if you will) and hes got two to three months of work staring back at him. Nuff said.

They’re not kidding… the treatment can be a little rough, but its all in good fun. I started a few months ago and at that time it was lang that was being thrashed on a regular basis. There are a quite a few guys here with a sharp sense of humor, a bit if wit and the ability to communicate in writing. Lots of entertainment value. This is not a place for folks that hold a grudge…

alright guys, cut the guy a break. He ‘s new. You all almost attacked me when I was here the 1st day and posted “who is this guy Tony I keep hearing about, and does he do good work?”.

Parvin: This is not your typical forum. Politeness and consideration or benefit of the doubt is pretty rare here. It took me a few weeks but I got used to it. You will be told to f**k off in no time if you rub someone the wrong way, just reply with similar comments and you ‘ll all get along, hehehe.

I don’t want to imply this is a tough man’s forum, but if you ask stupid questions or give the wrong advice to someone, or talk BS about someone well liked or knowledgeable that helps many people out, you ‘ll be attacked mercilessly. It is sometimes a cruel forum. If you want nice, I suggest you go to Springer forums 8) but there are people here that know their sh*t.

As far as Tony/Talon Tunes goes, there are many people on this forum waiting in line right now for Tony to get to their gun or their order. He ‘s backed up 10-12 weeks, so any request you have for him it will be 3 months before you see it realized. Also Tony, or any good tuner, will not do a mod for you that is not in harmony with other components in the gun. The whole point of the tune is for everything to work well together.
Don’t worry, you ‘ve come to the right place and are considering the right tuner.

Harry

Hey P.B. this ought to be all you need to know…..Look at all the people who came to Tonys defense……Look how many agreed with you…..Everyone who has a gun touched by Tony would gladly do it again. Every time I see a post that mentions his name, I read it. Period. I haven’t been here that long but like others, i’ve went back and read damn near all there is here. Never did hear anything but how glad they are for Tonys expertise. It’s one thing to have someone who knows what they’re doing work on your rifle. It’s a WHOLE world different to have someone who knows what they’re doing and is a perfectionist and loves what he’s doing, to work on it. Go ahead, you know you want to…..

1000 pellets what a joke I shot more then that the first week. Think I am going on 10000 now and Lizzy is going strong. Not going to talk a bunch of crap like to be face to face when I tell some one they are full of it, so I will keep it to my self. How ever I will say that my Lizzy is one fine rifle and Tony has always treated me right. He is a man of honer and backs his rifles 100%. And by the way my name is Mike no need to hide when you speak the truth.

Sounds like BS to me too.

Thats what Spencer said about you, but without the wealth of knowledge part… 😛

No argument there!

I have to say that this all seems a bit silly. I am an admittedly new user of this forum and did not realize or intend to step on any toes. If you all are the type to need apologies for unintended infractions then by all means you have my apology

Dont sweat it…. you were met by the unwelcome committee here and thats about it. Voltar is a bit of a grump, but he also is a wealth of knowledge. Everyone had the right intentions. This group is certainly not the type to need apologies. Just tell ’em all to piss off and be done with it. Seems most of us here understand that better. 😆

Okay last post.

As you can see from this, I passed along three concerns. I also stated that I had heard only good things about TalonTunes. The exception is the dealer I bought my Condor from. People are upset because I won’t give the name of my dealer or the gunsmith there. I am answerable to my own sense of ethics not yours. Further, given the implication that I am dishonest by Shadoh, even if I were to cave to this pressure to publically give the name of the vendor I wouldn’t be believed. That concern over the source of negative comments seems to be more important than a substantive response to those concerns is misguided. I have not expressed any personal opinion concerning TalonTunes. I am simply trying to determine whether the mods are a good investment into a new hobby.

So here is a compromise solution. I will be happy to provide the name of the vendor and gunsmith along with the dated invoice proving I at least bought the gun from this dealer. Anyone who wants this information can send me an email at parvin_briggs@hotmail.com and I will provide it, as long as the information remains strictly confidential and it not made public.

I have specifically left out the dealers name. It is not pertinent to the question at hand. You have only my word that anyone associated with a dealer commented as I’ve stated. In court this is called hear say evidence and is disallowed because it is inflammatory and ultimately impossible to verify. The name of the website selling the mods is very pertinent, because it bears upon the safety and quality of the aftermarket modifications done at that specific site. I am seeking information not a firestorm.

I dont have a tuned condor, but I do have a Tony shroud. And anyone who wants my shroud is going to have to pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Read the article I wrote for Airgun Hobby magazine this past issue on my Talon Tuned Condor. Puts to light some of what Tony does and the results of his work.

Just think about this for a moment… If talontunes was not around doing what I consider master work on these guns, what are we left with then, your producers of so-so workmanship with a price tag just slightly more affordable. I would like to say it is always money and business, and rarely thought about as perfection and an art.
