This isn’t good…
I’ve been meaning to ask about this for sometime. This is getting worse, and am wondering how to remedy it. For some reason the cocking knob stem is making a indention on the front part of the slot where you lock it over. It’s actually putting a dent of sorts on the frame edge, with a big burr sticking up. Is the knob stem being slammed forward during the firing cycle to do this? There is a ever so slight play fore and aft with the breach. Just want to keep this from getting worse… any suggestions appreciated!

So here’s what I did to try and remedy this. A buddy of mine came across this plastic type of tubing. Neoprene/nylon type stuff, can’t remember exact name. Anyways he threaded the ID of tubing to the knob shaft. I cut about 1/4 of a inch of it, which was to long, (wanted it long to start with) and began filing it down slowly but surely to get it just the right lenght, so the top of the knob wouldn’t hit the scope rail, and not to short so bottom of knob wouldn’t tighten up against the frame. Seems to do the trick, and the new spacer, or collar, takes up any fore and aft slack in the breach. As can see, I got plenty left should this spacer/frame protector ever fail. (Thx John)
While I’m here, just wanted to say I haven’t been around much lately because the PC I’m using is WIGGING out big time, it may be on it’s last legs, took me for ever just to get online, screen goes black… to much to mention. Has anyone thought about using vaccuum hose hose or windshield washer tubing? Just a thought.
Yours still has the black bumper covering the threads.
Wierd. Mine has thousands of rounds thru it with out a mark at all. ❓
Mine went out a long time ago/years. It’s thin stuff and will split out particularly if you tighten down the knob too tight. Tried a metal sleeve and it was ok but thought a high density plastic might be better over time.
If you look around you’ll find high density tubing. Tried the regular air hose type which wasn’t so good. Finally ran into what must be a bit higher pressure line which was denser/heavier but had a thin wall. Modified that slightly to fit. Works fine when compared to the lower density and stands up longer than the OEM AF part.
Still, I keep an eye on it and know eventually it will need to be replaced.
I’m with you,,,and never have locked the breech. One less thing to make a noise really,,when it rebounds off the top hat/valve and is stopped by the frame.

Very nice. That maybe similar to what Voltar was talking about. Looks good to. Thanks for posting your work. Don’t have a lathe, but I think I could work something out if I were to go that route.

Yeah WOK, I’m thinkin some kind of rubberization is worth a try.
Go to home depot and find the size that is closet. Drill out the ID and file down the OD.
Yeah I was thinking some kind of automotive gas line type hose maybe. Would just have to make sure OD is not to big so it slides forward thru the cocking slot without hitting/rubbing. I just like the idea of a material with some cushion/give to it, as opposed to adding a sleeve that still may be as hard as the frame is, or close to it.
I bet that would work slick as anything. I was comtempating two or three layers of heat shrink. and polishing the square edges off of the contact points on each side of the rear of frame.
