Q:

Tube

I was asked to make a custom tube n valve for a chap recently.

I’ll make an adjustable but plate/cheek piece to finish it off.
Later, Sean.

Did some calcs on a tube Rob3dr sent me (thank you Rob)

the tube stress at 190 bar doing it ‘this’ way is 38,110psi and at 200 bar the stress is 40,116psi

Doing it my way at 190 bar the stress falls to 22,129psi and at 200 bar it is only 23,294psi

what that means is the oring outboard is half as strong as oring inboard.
So a safety factor of ‘3 to 1’ turns into ‘1.5 to 1’

Does not compute with me as high level engineering…….

It has to do with the FX air tube that was made to fit the Condor. My 1st post was with that airtube you can get a M4 stock to fit over it.

“Now someone needs to make a aluminium or polymer M4 type forestock that attaches to the top &/or bottom rails of the frame. Add a new trigger guard & you have 1 bad ass looking Condor/Talon.”

It helps to read the entire thread………. It’s just a quick mockup done in MS paint. The reason for me to add some sort of shell around the frame because it’s too thin or skinny. I’m 6′-3″ & have pretty large hands(I can palm a b-ball no problem.)

How about this:

What in the wide world of sports does this have to do with the OP????

If it thrills you so much, start a thread of your own.

Airsoft…….. crapola…….

now that S-16…. looks good, looks cheap but good 🙂

I would get the new S16-EVO if it were the same price as the Condor & could be serviced in the US.

Change the profile of the frame? Mmmk. How about get an S16.

Edzachery…..

this looks like an Airsoft POS…… don’t do it!

you mean like this:

This is the real deal

This is an Airsoft:

I didn’t say “It’s much much more.”

quote Jerry:

I don’t think Walter is just bitching. It’s much much more. Pressurizing the threads seems to open up uncontrolled / unknown and more likely failure modes. Did AirArms actually say this design was a safety feature or was it just a vendor? I’ve heard salesmen come up with some really creative stuff to keep customers…

I agree. I dont think Walt’ is just bitching. It’s much much more than just bitching.
But Ive had this argument before. I wouldn’t put an O ring in such an obviouse week spot.
But AirArms do and i think it’s safe to follow their leed.
Untill AirArms recall all their guns i’ll assume its safe to use thier system.
Thier tubes arestamped and passed and cheap and only a 15 minute drive away.

I got “Miserable and Old” right at least. 😉

Al take measures of the tubes dimension and let you do the sums.
Later, sean.

Thanks Sean, look forward to the numbers!
