The American Made E-TaC Adapter: A Success Story

Hey Guys,

First off, I want to thank everyone who has purchased an E-TaC from me. The success has been overwhelming; humbling, actually.

Wanted to drop in here to tell you about the recent upgrades, changes, and developments with the new Ergonomic Talon and Condor Adapter (E-TaC).

I understand that while not necessarily a new concept; bringing an actual American made product to market in a few weeks, is.

The original thought was to put some kind of adapter on the tank to allow the user to see the pressure in the tank and fill the tank without taking if off the gun. However, since the Talon/Condor (T/C) platform can be a bit lacking in ergonomic comfort, I searched and found several gunstock manufacturers and custom builders and queried them about drop at heel and cast-off. Turns out that 2.3″ of drop at heel and .3″ of cast-off are the preferred stock dimensions. I then proceeded to mill the E-TaC to provide these recommended dimensions. The result is a more comfortable cheek weld, and when used with the WokButt, better shoulder position. The true benefits of the E-TaC are fully realized with the WokButt.

Through numerous emails, pms, posts, and phone calls, the scope of the E-TaC has grown. I am now producing them with threads for the T/C bottle, C02 bottles with valve, and HPA tanks. In each of these different configurations there are straight, right and left hand models.

However, these developments have not raised the price one bit. They are still $100 shipped. NO PayPal fees. They include the Foster fill backcheck nipple, 6000psi gauge, O-rings as needed, and timing shims.

While the last two weeks have been enjoyable, I’m still not satisfied that I’ve got all the bases covered. I want the E-TaC line-up to be a “must-have” accessory for the T/C platform. Therefore, additional development must continue.

First, I have been working to provide a better method than shims for timing the E-TaC into the correct position. Honestly, removing and re-installing the bottle adapter ring in the back of the gun frame is probably the best way to do this. The shims work, but perhaps are not the most elegant solution.

Secondly, the inability to take the bottle off the gun has deterred many members of the T/C crowd. While this wasn’t considered a necessary design requirement at the beginning, it has indeed been added to the wants and needs department. Sooo, not to be outdone, I can make the E-TaC removable from the gun. Yes, it will get longer by about 1″, bringing the total addition to length-of-pull to 2.6-inches. One design consideration is that if the user wants to take the bottle off the gun to fill, a fill nipple is not required, and can be omitted. What does this do for you? it LOWERS the cost $10. So you get a removable E-TaC with gauge, shims, and orings AND it only costs $90 shipped with no Paypal fees.

Third, that “wierd angle” the tank hangs at bothers some people. They like the classic straight lines of the T/C platform. So, why not produce an E-TaC that drops the tank straight down about .75” to get the proper drop at comb. Sure, says I, why not? Let’s call it the E-TaCD. Since this is considerably more work, I’ll be offering the Straight Drop E-TaCD for $120 shipped, NO paypal fees. Still comes with the Foster fill, gauge, shims and orings.

I hope you all can see that making the E-TaC is a pleasure for me. Further developments, upgrades, and improvements can only happen with the input of T/C users. So, please, let me know what it takes to earn your trust.

Jim is a great guy,and went out of his way for me,
Thanks Jim The E-tac is the best invention ever 5 *****stars

Guys, I’m not one to easily compliment someone on a public forum, but I’ve been dealing with Jim over the last few months. I ended up buying two of his adapters, and the quality is excellent. Add to that service that’s second to none. Not many custom suppliers will bend over backwards to help source different parts for a non-US customer, and then follow up regularly via e-mail to see if the customer is happy. Any clitch and he does not ask, he fixes! Cudo’s to Jim. If anybody still hesitates to do business with him, don’t. You’ll be pleasantly surprized. 😛

Jerry,

I took another test 17 shots today by using “Ring 7” slugs, this time I over filled my 53ci tank to 3200 psi, here is a shots string. I have noticed, they have fixed the formula too 😆 😆 . I think this gun handle “ring 6” better.

Don,

I suppose you know this already but for those who don’t care to do the calculations… A 62gr 6 ring supersonic (using 1125fps at 20 degrees C) will have 174 FPE, the 7 ring about 200 FPE and the 9 ring, 246 FPE. That’s some serious power to try to get out of a .25 airgun. As a point of reference a 40gr slug from a .22 LR going 1125fps is 112 FPE.

I’m not sure how common the LR loads and barrel combinations that lead to 1125 fps are but you are clearly in the rimfire power range already with the 6 rings and I’ll bet you will be above it just by putting the 7 rings in the current set-up.

I will give it a try on the ring 7 sometime tomorrow, I am running low on air, the paintball place is closed today.

I just want to try with different setup to see how things work and compare them.

BTW, the version I previous used is 1.0, I just updated new version 1.9, hope thay correct the formula issue 😆 😆 😆

In holland we have this quick fill for some time now .
It’s a great thing for the af guns 😀
http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7037&highlight=quickfill
It works great , even for the bigger calibers 😉
THe angle you make is just a perfect “thing ”
:8
But the reg is a great problem ” the great minds 😉 ” here in Holland are thinking and thinking about : how to put a small reg inside the tank .
Yes, a reg outside on a bottle and then a hose to the valve, but it has to fit inside the bottle.

Is there a possible situation (just a smal brain twinkle 😎 ) for a bigger neck on a bottle , ore a home made pressure”bottle” made from “pressure pipe??? “whit a reg inside

Greets robert[/b]

Sorry for my english, dont use it a lot .

BTW, I will try the big bore valve on a .25 Condor as soon as I get the valve from Sean. I just want to know if the .25 Cal can shot Jerry’s slugs “Ring 7 or 9” with super-sonic-speed or not 😆 😆 😆

There is something wrong with the caculator build-in the Chrone, I did not make any change, I basically plugin the weight of the slug, other field are gray-out, so I could not change it.

I think the software that came with the device has some bugs, I will visit the site and properly download the latest version and try it again.

So since I could not make change another field in the program, I ended up left it alone, just irgnore that energy field then.

Is something wrong with my math or are u shooting very very light pellets to only get
.123 foot lbs of energy for these 9ring Jerry slugs??? 😯

😆 😆 The slugs (6 ring not 9 in this case) are certainly not light! The 6 ring slugs run about 60-62gr from batch to batch. The chart calls out 62gr which comes to 110 FPE on Brad’s online calculator. I don’t recall anyone with a Condor getting anymore power out of the 6 ring slug. This is one strong gun and certainly a candidate for the 7 and 9 ring slugs for heavy hitting! The shot count and air usage is pretty darn impressive. You are on to a great set-up here Don.

Ideally, the highest power shot would be in the center of that string. That would indicate that the pressur, valve porting, hammer momentum and slug reaction were all in balance. Since you are starting at 3000psi and I assume that is the max for the tank; any improvement to the curve will need to come from valve duration. I would check to see if the valve is bottoming out thus artificially changing the stroke. I would then look at reducing pre-load just a bit.

Of course with a pretty flat curve as is and not being likely to ever need 17 shots to kill a pig or a truckload of predators without recharging, you might just leave well enough alone!

Yeah, somebody’s formula is wrong

First line is 106 ftlbs.

EXCELLENT Don!!

That’s right :), perfect fit 😆 😆

Just put a regular tank output regulater on the piglet tank and a 3′ microbore hose going to the gun and you can walk around the woods all day shootin! Just like a ghost buster! …don’t cross the streams…

With a backpack just like this? 😉

Jerry,

you have brought up another good idea, to determine what kind of regulator output should be with your gun, install adjustable regulator on the big tank and figure it out which psi is best for you, then purchase a fix regulator for your smaller tank or just keep the big tank, that will give you all day shooting, LOL.
