Q:

heatsink

got so many tools…even lathe and mill….but i dont have the time/opportunity to make something my self, little 5 month old Lucas does not like to be ignored, while daddy go whip something cool up in the garage(he does like to sit in the stomach hammock thingy and watch the car race by)……so….

i need a heatsink with as large fins sticking up pulling heat away from an electric motor, it needs to be able to clamp tight, but have minimum material under the motor as there is not much room, but fins may poke up something like 2 inches

something like this

but on a bigger scale

is there someone who can make that for me…..name your price….sorry to say theres not much room in the budget, wife allready bitched about the repair cost of my RC cars ESC and motor….damn post pregnancy hormones….but i figure i can squeese in a heatsink if it mens less risk of burning something, hehe

motor is 42mm diameter, and i forget the lenght and motor is shipped out…but about 10 cm (4 inches)

I have sent “Cygnus X” a few server heatsinks, hope he could machine it down to the size he wanted.

Let us know how that work for you “Cygnus X”.

RC 540 Brushless Motor Heat Sink with Cooling Fan

dont know how hard it would be to bend one, he has the castle fan heatsink combo on his site as well. maybe send him a message and ask if a bigger one could be bent smaller with out ill effect, he aslo has a heat sink paste. i came across his site from the traxxas foum.

great find….i dont know how flexible these 540 heatsinks are….but he also has a 43mm heatsink…that just 1mm too big…i guess its easier to bend out a sligtly smallish sink to fit than it is to compress one thats too large

is that hydraulic disc brakes i see on that monster ?

looks sweet plese tell us more

in denmark i was running koysho inferno with a ron paris tuned 3.5cc tuned engine putting out 2.1hp at 32000 rpm….however that really nice sound and smell was apparently only enjoyed by me….cause neighbors called the cops, and i got a warning ….that if i continued i would get a fine equalling 100 bucks…being a kid and barely having enough money to keep the darn thing running….i stopped….the rc track i was member off got moved 3 times, because of the noise and we where just running 1:8 buggies…finally they caved in, and started running electric indoor cars on carpet…

at the dorm where i lived…they didnt appreciate it either….they didnt call the cops but various threats where made, i got a custom exhaust system made for it which took the noise down….also made the thing boring as hell to drive….so finally i caved, and sold the buggy to sponsor paintballing…which ruined my knee….traded that stuff for airguns….and now im back at rc….

i like the model i got….electric which isnt too bad with noise….i can drive it in my backyard, and in the park…noone has complained yet….
