I’ve just seen Ivannj string from a talon valve. Much like my Eunjin string, so it is doable even with a stock Airforce valve.
One thing I do that alot of guys here don’t seem to do is monkey about with hammer weights. For me, changing hammer weights is a vital part of setting up my guns to shoot good strings. I have maybe 10 different weights I can use.
There are a number of guys here who know what works and what doesn’t. If I were you, I’d start with asking Pablouk and then others with set-ups more exactly like yours will chime in. I expect you’re just a few clicks or turns away from a really great string. The gun can clearly make the extreme power, now it just needs to be backed off a touch to make consistent high power.
Then, will get you a new heavy slug and you’ll have to find a whole new set of adjustments to optimize those!

I finally figured out how to get a visual up here!

This graph shows what I’ve been trying to say…. poorly it appears. The brown line shows the trajectory of a 21.2gr Kodiak with a BC of .0360 shot at 1111fps with a 45 yard zero. The dark blue line shows the same pellet shot at the same angle but at 972fps. The light blue line shows the angle of the barrel. The parallel purple lines at 1 and -1 are an arbitrary representation of a 2″ kill zone.
What this shows is that a pellet fired at 1111fps at a 45 yard zero hits that zero spot but the same pellet shot at 972fps hits an inch low. Everything inbetween hits inbetween with the spread getting larger with range.
Are you using the same zero for both pellets? Trying to figure out why we’re not seeing the same results. 😕
I think you are comparing the 1111 shot zero’d at 45 with the 972 shot zero’d at 45. That’s not really valid here. The gun is only zero’d at one power level. My assumption is that the gun is zero’d at 45 yards for the first shot. I assume that the scope is not adjusted and that the crosshairs are held dead on for every other shot in the string (as you would do if there were no POI shift). That means that the elevation angle of the barrel never changes. The slow shot is not actually zero’d at 45 it is fired as though it were a fast shot zero’d at 45. Setting chairgun to compare the two pellets shot at the same angle shows a graph with the slow pellets trajectory always below the fast shot (as you would expect). If you plot the pellets both having a 45 yard zero, the trajectories intersect but that cant actually happen unless you aim higher…
Oh, are you using Chairgun 2? at the bottom of the “Compare Pellets” window I see three options: “Same Zero”, “Same Angle”, and “Set Ranges”. I’ve selected “Same Angle” to show the trajectories as fired from the same gun position.
Yes. At 45 yard zero, the pellet fired at 927 fps at 50 yard target, it will land 0.388 below aimpoint. AT 1111 fps, it will land 0.195 below aimpoint. Any shot between those two fps ranges will fall inbetween the two poi numbers.
(These numbers with your slighty different setings)
Did you use the “same angle” selection? Obviously the zero range is only valid for one of the shots unless one is dialing up through the string.
With a 45 yard zero I get the 1111 shot .2′ low at 50 and the slower shot 1.4″ low at 50. At 45 the fast shot is right on (zero) and the slow shot is 1″ low.
Oh, I used a 2.125 scope height and a BC of .0360 but the comparisons should still be valid so long as all is the same for both pellets in the program.
When I ran the numbers I saw more like .5″ at 50. I suppose the answers can come out different based on other variables. When I first ran the numbers I found some weird stuff but then realized that changing the zero for pellet 1 did not change pellet 2 etc.
I just ran the numbers again. Using the same angle option and keeping every other variable identical with the first shot zeroed at 50 yards, the 138 fps slower shot lands 1.2″ low at 50 and 5″ lower than the first at 100.
I crunched the numbers with 45 yard zero, 0.0350 bc, scope 3 inch above bore, 21.3 grain Kodiaks.
It shows poi diff’ of 0.2 inch at 50, and nearly 5 inches at 100. I put in 1111 fps and 927 fps.

Its amazing the poi drop between 50 and 100 😯 50 yards you ain’t gonna see much, at 100 you’d be off the paper…. 😯 😆
Shit, at 50 yards I drop 0.2″ regularly with my 10/22… 😉
According to chair gun, RJ would only get .2 inch poi difference at 50 yards with the fps spread he gets, though 100 yards is a whole different matter! So maybe he is just thinking/seeing no poi change at 50?
