Congratulations, that is a superb peice of glass, there was a silver one going to go this weekend, I was tempeted but I need to keep some capital for the shoebox compressor and a scba tank first.
But the next big purchase will see a nice Leupold sitting on my Condor.

Won the scope on gunbroker. Have to send a check to the guy. Hopefully I will have it within a couple weeks.
Oh and speaking of getting fucked in the ass by swfa, they would do a trade in of $250 for my hawke and $200 for a straight sell.. BS!!
Might just keep the damn scope for my next gun, (EDGUN!!!) hurray for tax money.

Thanks for that info, I was going to call Leupold this week and ask the same thing, it has been a few years since I had them add knobs, and I usually got only the elevation knob done.
I had so much fun this last three weeks with the mildot on my Baraska shooting birds. Nothing like holding three or four mildots for elevation and one for wind and then watching that looping trajectory of a pellet arch into a cloud of feathers and here that whap as the lead strikes home.
I think I will stay with the 4×12 power that I am using now, that seems to be just about right for what I want this Condor to do. I have even thought of just getting a fixed 12, I have used those quite a bit on long range guns.
Your so ahead of where I was at your age on guns, although I had better places to shoot, the ranch I grew up on, you have far better equipment.
My first good rifle was a Remington 788 22-250 with a fixed 7.5 mdl 8 Leupold, I think I was 19 or 20 when I got that gun, 41 years ago, I killed so much with that combo.
I have had a couple of the 6,5×20’s but found them better for targets than field use.

For 500 you could get a 4×12 or a 3×10 ao. But you are going in the right direction. I will send the one I eventuallybuy back to the factory and get the mildot.
The last three weeks have really illustrated the utility of that reticle to me. Although it remains to be seen if a 3×9 can give a true mildot value.

You know how much it is to get the mil dot reicle? Is it like $100-200?
$160 if I remember right. Check out the TMR as well. I got that and love it.
It was right about $290 for the reticle and both knobs changed for me. Just remember the scope has to be younger than 15 years old for them to do it. And it is pretty quick too. About 2 weeks from leaving to arriving. They also take it apart and clean/inspect everything while it is there.
Why not sell the Hawke on gunbroker or ebay? Or even on here? Might not be as quick, but you are almost guaranteed to get more for it.
The 6.5-20×40 VarixIII I have is extremely clear. At 20x I can see my bullet holes in a paper target out to 300 yards. 500 they start to disappear in the mirage. I don’t know about 400, don’t get to shoot at that range.
I don’t remember if this is for an airgun or not. If so, remember the high magnification AO scopes may not adjust down far enough for airgun work. Mine only comes down to 50 yards, and it is useless closer. So keep that in mind.
$160 isn’t too bad. I have posted the scope on here, Ebay, Airgun classifieds and on the GTA forums.
It’ll be for my Marauder It adjusts down to 10 meters so it’ll be perfect. That’s strange that yours is 50 yards min, do you have the long range version? If I recall their is 2 different models.

Found one on Gunbroker for a great price of $500. Way cheaper than SWFA. Still curious to see how much they’ll take my Hawke for.

I’m with roach. I have always held the same general principal, you spend about half your budget on the gun and half on the scope. This is for powderburners.
All my meat and potatoes guns wear Leupolds.
I have broken a few, mostly moisture failures and one reticle failure and yes, they have come through on the warrranty each time.
My airguns don’t wear them, though, because they are not recoil intensive. I don’t buy a scope due to bling. Because I have so many airguns and the inventory changes often, I gave up very expensive scopes for the airguns, not enough capital to keep me in good glass, so save the bucks for the powderburners where a failure in the field would be very expensive in time and money. With the airguns i’m not worried about a failure, just means you go home a bit earlier.
