Q:

my condor is a hunk of expensive garbage

Got my brand new condor 24″ .22 cal in the mail on saturday. Filled bottle to 3000 psi, pw set right in the middle using the only pelets for sale in the area RWS 14.5 gr domed pelets. First shot was a dud and basically could be seen in flight. Next 20 or so were all right, but went supersonic and were louder than my .22 Mag. went inside, checked pressure and i was down to 1900 psi. Topped off and went to sight it in at 30 yards on a military human sized target. Forget it!!! absolutely no consistency. one would be off the paper right, and the next one off to the left, up down, you name it. Figure that the pellets are too light and going supersonic is blasting them all over. Turned the PW to 0 and the speed def dropped (visually, no chrony yet) but still all over the place. I have a nice Leapers scope that I swapped to my Ruger 10/22 to see if it was the glass. 1/4 group at 50 yards with the 10/22 so its not the scope or the shooter. Wadda I do?? Send to Tony?? dont wanna dick around if this is a f”d up gun, and the crown is flawless. Thanks

Not quite ready to send it back yet, Ill wait to get a hold of a chrony and some heavier pellets before I pass judgment that its a shotgun. Just was hoping that it was gonna be a shooter right outta the box. Just looks like its gonna take some effort to get this into a high powered tack driver. And a shroud is definetly in order, although I live in a rural area and routinely shoot High powered rifles right in my back yard. Silence isnt necessary, but adds to the cool factor of this gun.
While we are on the subject, How does gamo achieve supersonic speeds with PBA (light) .177 pellets and not have it affect accuracy?? I believe they offer several 1200 fps springers.

they don’t!

No doubt it is flammable, alot of the stuff they use to lube the hammer is, but the trick is to let it sit awhile, the fammables will evaporate, my wife found some stuff a magazine a silicone spray and the stuff is good, I have to see if she can find it again to turn everyone on to it , You can literally put coats of silicone on like coats of paint.

Why would it matter if the hammer lube is flammable? Unless I’m mistaken, the hammer is not in contact with any compressed air or high heat….. And you are right, it evaporates and leaves an ultra slick and ultra thin film. I found out how good it works when it dripped on my bike’s disc brakes 😯

Glad you like those Kodiaks! The right pellet can make all the difference. I am glad they go to you so fast.

When you get an WoGard 15 trigger guard and AR15 adapter an new trigger shoe on it you will love it even more. Don’t forget a Wokubutt shoulder piece 😀

Well cool, whats it doing. groups , yardage??

Ok, the Kodiacks that Wok sent me (thank you so much by the way) are freaking amazing. I now love this gun and am excited about unleashing its potential. One final question though. Ive seen and read about polishing the outside of the breech to increase some concistency (sp). What is recomended to do this?

WOK

I need to order a trigger shoe and ar trigger guard

Discount anything Gamo says.

😆 What he said. They shoot a few different times, with different rifles. One they spray with oil to make it diesel really bad and get super speeds. Once it is destroyed they get another one shooting slow and shot accuracy. 😛

And remember, don’t do too much to the condor yet. Play with different ammo and the power wheel as these guys have said. If that all fails, don’t try modding, just send it back and get a replacement. Much more fun to put parts on a gun that works correctly. 😀

You can probably get by with just a cheap caliper, about $10 at harbor freight or other places. The feeler gauges give you a better reading but you are just looking to get close and don’t care about being a thousandth or so off, the caliper is fine.

Well, Just got a deer this morning (archery) so now I can spend some time with my toy. Gonna get heavier pellets, as this seems to be the accepted practice, and go from there. Gotta pick up feeler guages, a micrometer and a chrony too. I’ll get this thing to shoot if it kills me (or my bank account) 🙂

HOgfeeder take a set of auto motive feeler gauges and measure the gap that is behind your top hat , that way we have a referance to were the top hat is , seems like mine was .095 from the factory. i measure the thickness with feeler gauges then measure the feeler gauges with a set of dial calipers, but if you dont have any of these.

A dime is .050

A nickle is .070

If you put a .077 thick o ring behind the top hat the .070 should put you around the 700’s with the 14 grain pellets.and the rws super dome should do 1/4” groups or so at 25 yards.

With out the oring you will have to turn the top hat down to like .035 and fill the tank to like 1500 psi to slow the condor down .but without the oring you run into problems with the top hat coming into contact with the brass behind it

IF you get Kodiak’s you will still probably need to turn it down some

so what you going to do , lets get ya shootin that thing. 🙂

X2 on the graphite….it dosnt attract dust …in fact if you can fund it use “slick plate” its a spray graphite lube that goes on like primer and works like a champ..I coat all the hammers I sell with it…Greg

I spray the tube area from the power wheel to the breech, but with the tube empty of course, with Graphite lube and let it dry before reassembly, only takes a few minutes.

Hog feeder, do you raise hogs?

I do enjoy tinkering, and I’ve seen some pretty amazing stuff here. Now by no means do I have the talent to start modding my parts, but drop in tweaks are no problem. Gonna keep my eye on ebey and Craigslist to see if I can get a chrony and straight shooters for a sampler pack to see exactly what is going on with this gun. But Tony will definetly get to play with my gun in the near future.

I use divers silicone.

Isn’t tri-flow flammable? H.F. If you’re a tinkerer, tinker away. If not, send it to Tony and enjoy it when you get it back.
