Got my brand new condor 24″ .22 cal in the mail on saturday. Filled bottle to 3000 psi, pw set right in the middle using the only pelets for sale in the area RWS 14.5 gr domed pelets. First shot was a dud and basically could be seen in flight. Next 20 or so were all right, but went supersonic and were louder than my .22 Mag. went inside, checked pressure and i was down to 1900 psi. Topped off and went to sight it in at 30 yards on a military human sized target. Forget it!!! absolutely no consistency. one would be off the paper right, and the next one off to the left, up down, you name it. Figure that the pellets are too light and going supersonic is blasting them all over. Turned the PW to 0 and the speed def dropped (visually, no chrony yet) but still all over the place. I have a nice Leapers scope that I swapped to my Ruger 10/22 to see if it was the glass. 1/4 group at 50 yards with the 10/22 so its not the scope or the shooter. Wadda I do?? My recommendation is to clean, buy decent pellets, fill to 2500-2800, lube the hammer with Teflon (triflow is my favorite) and keep the hammer preload in the 7-10 range. Also, check the diagram in the quick reference section to ensure you rebuilt the gun in the proper manner.

And i said they give modified choke patterns, this is a reference to a shotgun choke pattern , improved , modified, full . modified being in the middle.

I’m talking about those silly ass superdomes, we have had a topic on them already, to shoot them in the Airforce rifles, we have to shoot them real slowly or they act like a scatter gun.. wake up and smell the coffee.

Not quite ready to send it back yet, Ill wait to get a hold of a chrony and some heavier pellets before I pass judgment that its a shotgun. Just was hoping that it was gonna be a shooter right outta the box. Just looks like its gonna take some effort to get this into a high powered tack driver. And a shroud is definetly in order, although I live in a rural area and routinely shoot High powered rifles right in my back yard. Silence isnt necessary, but adds to the cool factor of this gun.
While we are on the subject, How does gamo achieve supersonic speeds with PBA (light) .177 pellets and not have it affect accuracy?? I believe they offer several 1200 fps springers.
would not have pulled it apart first, never know how it shot as was, now. lol no comparison before and after.
Long story short, cant tell you how mine was very accurate out of the box because all i had was light pellets at first , i new the Kodiak was the pellet for the condor but everyone was out of them when i bought it.
There was nothing on this form about shooting light pellets , because i had read it for quite some time before i decided to buy,
But now there is quite allot about shooting light pellets because i have put it on here, so if you have read on this forum for a year you should know exactly what you need to do to get your gun shooting with the light pellets.
The Rws pellets will not shoot with precision over 800 fps for the most part,

crosman hp , will shoot up to 1000 fps, but they dont like under 800 as much, great all around pellet for casual shooting but with flyers and cheap.

JSB pellets are your top accuracy pellet:14 grain, like hight 900′ best
16 grain ,950’s,? not thru testing
18 grain, 930’s to 950’s
kodiak will be ok from 600 to 1000 but will have a sweet spot at the 980’s

If you want to save yourself allot of learners curve time , just put a oring behind your top hat , and put your power wheel at 4 and it might slow it down enough to get some accuracy . don’t fill it over 2700 , really 2200 to 2400 is plenty. if this slow it down enought to stop the sound barrier crack then the crosman pellets should shoot ok. so get yourself some crosman hollow point from walmart , they will give accuracy that the rws will not when at 1000 fps + .
Now if it still is to fast get an Allen wrench loosen the two screws on the side of the top hat and turn down the top hat 1/4 turn at a time, this is the whole end of the top hat , then tighten up the screws , be careful not to tighten them too much because it will cave in the tube on the inside of the valve, and you really need some blue loctite to put on the screws to keep them tight. . and shoot a 5 shot group or 2, if the accuracy is not there turn it another 1/4 turn down until it starts to shoot.you can do this without a crony and make it work for you.
The gun will shoot better after a few thousand pellets, so if you want to help break it in faster , get some jb bore paste and a jag tip with a patch that is really tight and sit and try and ware that barrel out. only from the breech end, you will fill it smooth up as you do this.
Sounds like you may have got a lemon, If you bought it brand new, I would send it back ASAP.
Dont be discouraged, these rifles are deadly accurate .and you might want to get a shroud too, it will keep the report down to a red ryder.
I’ve been lurking, reading these boards for about a year now. As always, you impress me with your creativity and knowledge of these air rifles. This community is part of the reason I finally bought a Condor. Plus my Beeman R8 that Ive had since I was 10 years old is a little tired. I knew out of the bok that this wouldnt be a tack driver, but had no idea how bad supersonic pellet flight would affect accuracy.. Even the R8 when I’d over oil the piston would “deisel” and go super for a few shots, but not that drastic of an accuracy issue.
Anyway, thanks for the help and I appreciate all the info. It’s def a nice community here, tons of knowledge and super friendly. I’m sure Ill learn more, and I reel as though I already know most of the main charecters here. Bunch of cool individuals.

Yeah get some heavier pellets. And clean that gunk out of the barrel. Then fire at least a hundred round then go back and test accuracy.
And make sure your breech is back tight against the top hat when you shoot. A lot of us here adjust that tophat so that there is no play when the breech is locked. But a lot of us do not, I do tho.
Things will start working way better when you get heavier pellets, I do not know of anybody who shoots those light ones in the Condor, I personally use 25 to 32 grain ones in the Condor. Be prepared to always order your pellets, as you have seen, most stores only sell 14.3 grain.

make sure you lube the hammer and breech and your breech orings are good
this can all lead to bad accuracy
If you already cleaned/polished the bore you got the brown gunk out. You are using a quality one piece air rifle rod in that quality air rifle barrel? It isn’t the same as a powder burner barrel.
One time I didn’t get the tank screwed on straight and I could have beat the pellet to the 30 yard target.

LOL easy guys. It was only a curiosity question. I’ve been used to my old trusty Beeman R8 springer shooting basically one hole shots with H&N match wadcutters, and pretty awesome penetration and accuracy from Beeman Silver Jets. But I know its speeds were nowhere near 1200 fps ( which I knew was BS, PBA ammo is super light) Just never shot one to know about the accuracy of such a fast, light load. My Beeman P1 Magnum seems to love them though.
