Q:

177 Vulcan 2 update

Still getting used to to front lever cocking, Is it better than the rear lever cocking No just different, Now if you shoot a Mutant/Veteran , Cricket Your spoiled on the magazine loading , The Vulcan you have to spin and load it one at a time. Sucks when you been spoiled, I been shooting the 177 JSB 13.43gr pellets and shot count is way up there, I never let the gun go below 150 bar and never fill above 220 bar , I call this gun shoot a lot fill every once in a while ,  Sparrows just aim and shoot, Euro doves you better place your shot to the head or a good heart/lung shot or the bird is taking off,
Still have not taken it past 48 yards , It will stack pellets easy,
Makes me wonder why the 177 lost favor with the US market, bigger is not always better,

I can go through 4 mags before a refill, But I most time fill after three Mags. 15 shots per Mag.
Thats a lot of dead sparrows and a few doves (euro doves). I sight in on paper but get bored very quick.
4 Mags takes a few days most of the time,
I do think the wadcutter and the Polymag are pretty well tied for damage they do to birds,
Mike

Next thing you know Mike, is your going to tell us you’ve shot this gun for one year and haven’t filled it, thousands and thousands of shots…………………

My .22 Cricket and .22 Vulcan ONLY like 18.1 JSBs, it would be nice if they liked other pellets. I haven’t had the .25 Vulcan2 long enough to test other pellets.

Wow I got my 177 polymags in at 8grs, another wow, My Vulcan shoots them super good , I think this gun just likes all pellets from the 13.46 JSB to the 8gr pellets , I still have not tried the NSA 15 gr slugs , But its cold enough here in Texas for a few days I can open the windows (No flys) In the past two days I am sure i have killed 40 sparrows , Lost count, 38 to 48 yards .
For some reason I just fill better about shooting them with the 177 rather than the 22 or 25 , Maybe its the shot count,
Shoot all day long never refill,
Its the perfect sparrow gun,
Mike

Its never to late, I am just always a dollar short,
Mike

It’s not to late Mike to order the 25, it’s a great shooter for sure.

I got my two OEM magazines in from Vulcan, Very good.
Also got my magazine holder in off Ebay, Holds two magazines for the 177 Vulcan #2 , Build quality I give it a five, Not a flush fit and magazines just slide in tight , BUT. its an extra way to carry two extra mags , Three clips is a good start.
Still shooting the JSB 8.26 wadcutters ,
I did order four tins of polymags 8gr , Just to check out. The shot count is still wow,
I know now I should have ordered a 30 cal or a 25 as loading the little 177 pellets I have to have a lot of extra light for my old eyes.and fat fingers,
but back to the shot count , WOW.
Mike

Zonk
We both know the manufacture of the Vulcan stands behind his Product 100 % , It flips me out to be talking to the manufacture of my gun and order parts from him, I wished I could do that with my Cricket and Veteran,
But to answer your question i am sure there is just no profit in it for the dealer.
Its what its all about , The dealers do not do this for fun , or to be your buddy, They got to make a living .
Mike

Mike that’s great to hear that the manufacture will provide parts like that. Why doesn’t the seller carry any parts?

Got my new magazine holders ordered, Just hold two magazines , But I will have one on the gun.
Got my two new magazine ordered, Coming straight from the Vulcan factory,
and the little 177 , 8.26 gr pellet is still my go to pellet, That wad cutter does a lot more damage then the 13.43 grain monster.
I got me some poymags ordered pretty soon, But maybe I need to look into some wad cutters for my 22 mutant and Cricket,
In 177 the excite hole is huge, Stlll need to bring the range out past my 48 yards and see what happens .

Yea I need to find me a cattle barn some where , Hard to do in this oil field crazy towns,
Still have not tried out my new slugs yet, Found me a nice little pit if the rains let up that I can do some long range shooting , My pickup only has two wheel drive so I got to be careful , Found a 5 foot rattler in the pit , The P 17 took him out with a head shot
He is in the freezer need to find his friends to make it worth while to skin.
The 177 blue match wad cutters in 8,26 gran are the king in the Vulcan so far, Never thought I would shoot such a light pellet,
But accuracy of above all else is my golden rule.OOPS. only 38 yards so far, stay tuned .
Mike

That it is Mike. That’s why I love my PCPs because they’re accurate, quiet and deadly! At the cattle barns where I shoot birds, they want something quiet. Not the blast of a shotgun or .22 long rifle. I know I could get away with my suppressed .22 using standard velocity, but there’s houses within a half mile. To risky.

Wow you have to adapt to your pellet and gun, The back shot is deadly,(Thanks Greg) That little wadcutter 8 gr pellet takes organs out with it and a lot more blood than I see with my 22, about the same as my 25,
I did stretch out the little Vulcan 177 to a 50 yard high line sparrow shot , FLAT shooting , Hell two days of shooting and I have not even checked the air Gauge , I can see why the 22, 25, and 30 is the big deal hunting pellet, But i am really growing to like this little 177 . Its all about shot placement and being super accurate ,
The Vulcan 177 is just a fun gun, And that what its all about,
The hobby, The sport, the fun.
Mike

Try a back shot MIke …… in the back out the front, it’s my favorite way to be DRT on doves ….

~ Greg

I am testing the 177 so I am posting here,
Well since i discovered the JSB match 8.26 wad cutters , I thought to try the euro doves again, 38 yards lung shot , The entrance hole was pretty small but the exit hole had some lungs with it and it was three times the size of the pellet, The bird still did fly about 15 feet before crashing, Maybe worth looking into some polymags,
Now my 22 with 18gr and 25 with 28gr would have drooped him where he stood.
This 177 is my sparrow gun, They drop no matter what I shoot them with, Just nice birds,
In a nut shell wadcutters make good hunting pellets .
If they make big wound channels and shoot good I may order a few tins of POLYMAGS.
Kris what do you say? stick with the wad cutters or go for the Polymags?
