Q:

177 Vulcan 2 update

Still getting used to to front lever cocking, Is it better than the rear lever cocking No just different, Now if you shoot a Mutant/Veteran , Cricket Your spoiled on the magazine loading , The Vulcan you have to spin and load it one at a time. Sucks when you been spoiled, I been shooting the 177 JSB 13.43gr pellets and shot count is way up there, I never let the gun go below 150 bar and never fill above 220 bar , I call this gun shoot a lot fill every once in a while ,  Sparrows just aim and shoot, Euro doves you better place your shot to the head or a good heart/lung shot or the bird is taking off,
Still have not taken it past 48 yards , It will stack pellets easy,
Makes me wonder why the 177 lost favor with the US market, bigger is not always better,

Mike if Kris was any kind of a guy at all he’d send you a tin…………just saying. :suprisedn:

Kris cool
I may try the H&N pellets , Problem is I do not live in the fuxing sanitarium so the price may be close to the same,   This Vulcan really has me scratching my head, Could be head lice, But with all the different weight pellets and the strange FPS readings , Its like the gun is adjusting to the pellet, I need to extend the range and pull out the pro chrono and shoot some strings .
Monday the wife goes back to work , So I would like to see what the wad cutters are doing to sparrows , May try a euro dove but them guys are pretty tough.

H&N field target trophy is also shooting well from my CZ barrel. Just saying I tested this new to me pellet today. It is cheaper than jsbs here…

I am jumping around in post a little bit , But I am going to keep my testing here from now on.
You may be right about the lighter pellets , I thought since the 10 and 13 gr pellets shot so well the 8 gr wad cutters would be all over the paper, Was I wrong, I also fluffed off the poymags and never bothered to order any as they are 8gr too.
I may have to rethink my thinking with this 177 caliber, Which is a good thing.
Got to get some shot strings in and figure out why the FPS is screwed up with pellet weight .
Mike

Crank, don’t you have a mower? You can have your range back today!

From everything I have looked into regulators will settle in. Some take just a few rounds and some take 100s. I’m also waiting for the farmer to cut the corn field next too my house. Then I will have my range back…

Got the NSA 15 gr slugs in but for grins and giggles thought I would fire off a few a few 8.6 wad cutters , Now if you remember my JSB round nose 10.34 gr pellets were at 962 FPS , My range is only 30 yards (long story) The Match 8.6 gr wad cutter pellets were the best pellet to leave the barrel, Wow, I am talking one hole, I stuck my little end of the barrel FPS checker on there and it read 960 FPS. I am not shooting off bags , Just the Harris tripod and my arms ,
Grabbed my other clip that was loaded with the 13 gr pellets shooting 840 psi , Yep that sounds right , Ran out of light before I could get the 10.34 grans loaded.
Guess I need to pull the pro chrono out and shoot a string.
QUESTION
Could my regulator be settling in?????
It almost seems the gun adjusts to the pellets I am shooting, Sure need to get my 48 yards back,
Mike

Dats what I wanted to hear……………..not twang!

No Twang at all, Trust me , I can not stand a gun that goes Twang,
It sounds cheap, and it does not sound right.
NONE of my PCPs go Twang,,,
I watch a few videos and the guys shoots his PCP and it goes twang,
That would drive me crazy,
Nothing sounds cheaper or more ill tuned than a PCP that goes Twang. :angrymob:
Mike

Mike have they taken the twang out of the spring when firing your Vulcan?

Mike I’m so used to my cocking lever on my Vulcan being up front I don’t know if I can go back to a rear cocking lever. That’s one of the things I really enjoy about my Vulcan.
PLUS, did I tell you how good customer service is at Air Gun Technology???? They’re awesome!

Zonk
You just really need to get you a Veteran 25 shorty, Your Cricket and Vulcan will take a long needed rest,
There is a 100 % guarantee on that.
Mike

Kris
13.43 gr is as heavy as I am going in 177, after that i agree grab a 22 or a 25 caliber.
Have not had a chance to try any 8 gr pellets yet , I just hope the flat heads wad cutters are accurate to 30 yards, make a good thump on sparrows .

My Huma regulator came today and my Huma regulator tester should be here Friday. I asked Huma to set the reg at 130 bar, I’ll wait till Friday to test it before inserting it into my Vulcan.

I mean monsters, beasts are even heavier
Here is a link about some heavy .177 pellets

https://www.airrifle.co.za/threads/42359-JSB-Beast-4-5mm-177-a-super-heavy-pellet

Maybe you can try the h&n heavy sniper magnums was it 15 grain, only 300 in the tin.

…I still believe you should be using the 10.34g max, or grab your .22 or .25 instead
