Q:

.22 or .25? Need help deciding.

Hello everyone, my name is Manny.

This is my first post here & would like to ask you guys for any thoughts, info, suggestions about the AF rifles.

I’m planning on using the rifle for plinking, target practice, pest control.

So, here are my ?s.

1. Rifle —— Im leaning towards the Talon SS for its compact size

2. Caliber —– Im want a .22 at least, or .25 is the way to go? Any suggestiongs?

3. Accessories ——What are the basic items needed to start shooting off once I get the rifle?

Any suggestions, advice will be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Enjoy your time at the range and get ready to say… Damn that was loud! If you really want to hear how loud it can get, turn the power wheel all the way up and shoot some 18 grain pellets at 3000 psi. Get ready to send a pellet subsonic and hear the crack as it breaks the sound barrier. I don’t reccomend shoting it this way on a regular basis though. Have fun!

It’s a matter of time ( about 2 tins of pellets) and one of two things will happen; either you will buy a .25 rifle or barrel.

yes I am, thanks goes to you & the rest of peeps with their imput. πŸ™‚

Question,

yesterday when i filled up the condor tank. the needle from the big gauge on the tank hardly moved. I though that gauge is supposed to tell me how much air im filling up the condors tank with. So what am I missing? How can i track how much air im putting in the guns tank?

Help please.

You are going to get sooo hooked! πŸ˜€ :tag:

Nice!!!

here is a pic of my set up so far. My Talon P’s is here now.

Ill be goin to the shooting rage tomorrow to try them out for the first time. 😯

well, I ordered the great white plus whatever was needed. Woot!

I figured this had to be the case with the fps so high and the power wheel so low… You had to be getting that velocity from somewhere. Interesting setting. All that and still at 2,000 psi… Wow, that’s great! I just might give this setting a whirl some day after playing around with my high flow valve.

airgunsoftulsa,

That’s with a 24″ barrel correct?

Guess work give me about 70 fills.

If you get the tank and the fill whip from Joe, it will all work without problems. (tell him I said “Hi”) πŸ˜€

My set up…..

I gas my .22 up to 2000psi with a top hat at .100” with the oring on the stem.
Power wheel is set at 0.
JSB 18.1g is my guns’ favorite.
I get about 20-25 shots per fill.
Chrony claims 1000 fps.
100 yard shots in 2”groups is a 4 1/2 mil dot hold-over at 16x.

Enjoy!

I got mine from Joe at airtanksfrosale.com. His gauge is easier to read, the hose has strain reliefs on both ends (very important) check out this link –

Congrats Thunder! I’ve got a .22 Condor w/ 24 in. barrel and hi-flo valve. Every gun is a little different, but I’d start w/ JSB 15.9 gr pellets, the power wheel (pw) at 0-2 and a tank fill under 3,000psi; try 2,800. The noise will surprise you until you get a shroud.

A hi-flo valve is often hard to tame in a Condor .22, without mods and a lot of tinkering, compared to most guns. In this forum, you’ll find info on Top Hat adjustment, putting rubber o-rings behind the top hat and a ton of DIY tips. A standard flo valve actually works better, most of the time, in .22. Most of the tinkering and adjustments are easy; it just takes time to experiment.

Now, if you don’t have a lot of time and really want that gun “tuned” and set up for a particular ammo, Tony has a great reputation for this. I have one of his shrouds and it really makes the Condor quiet, unless the pellets break the sound barrier!

In case you haven’t heard, the AF trigger safety is not to be trusted. My Condor started shooting when the safety was released. AF exchanged/fixed it, but just in case, keep that Condor pointed in a safe direction at all times, especially when you let the safety off.

Have fun and read up. This forum is crawling with info and the Condor can be taken in a lot of directions.

Tnx bogman.

I cant wait to shoot it. πŸ˜›

@ moltogordo,

Tnx, I’m thinking about getting an 18′ barrel to make my condor a TSS look a like. πŸ˜†

I think for a start you made a wise choice. I prefer the .22 to the .25 (I have both) for edible game. With the same pellets (Predators) the .22 destroys less meat.

I have a modded .22 Talon with a 12″ barrel that is now my go to hunting gun for small game. At the ranges I take edible game (40 yards or less, shotgun range) it kills as reliably as a .22 rimfire.
