Q:

.22 Vulcan doesn’ need 250 BAR :!:

I got nearly 90 shots before it went off regulator below 890 FPS and that was around 115 BAR on the gun gauge.

Darn, that target came up sideways again. I took the picture straight.
This was my 50 yard target for 66 shots. Don’t know how I did it but twice I double fed a second pelled. Later using the chronograph at home I did it again and recorded a shot at 424 FPS. On the target there was a second poor hole 7 to 8 inches beloe PO Aim.

Vipersrt10,

You’re right but my Vulcan is making me a better shot and I worry that without making excuses I will not have anything to say

Why are some of you guys so obsessed with chrony numbers.. lol…If I can take my gun out and crack a squirrel in the head 9 outta 10 times at 60 yds personally I could give two shits less what the standard deviation of a 60 shot string looks like..First question that i have is….Is the gun inaccurate? I mean hell,if you can shoot sub 1/2 inch groups at 50yds and only have a 5fps variance on 60+ shots why on gods green earth would you ever want to fuck with the reg or the spring??????????? For that matter, to even remotely consider changing anything is beyond my comprehension….

spinj,

From my 66 shot string, above, would you suggest a slightly lower hammer spring tension ❓

Is the regulator broke in enough at 470 rounds ❓

I did a light barrel cleaning with my new Napier Power Pull Through before the 66 rounds and sorta expected a slight increase in fps but not. Just good and consistent.

It’s gone from comfortable but rainy to muggy and rainy her in W. central Ohio. But i’ve got 440 rounds through my 22 Vulcan and the initial spring noise has all but disappeared. I don’t know about regulated guns but figured mune is about broke in.

Is it normal for the FPS ti increase as they begin going off reg. ❓

It usually increases a couple of shots and then starts to decline.

FPS that increases once the regulator’s end-working pressure is reached is a result of the regulator, hammer spring tension, and valve spring tension not being optimally set to maximize the use of the total air in the airtube. When these three components have been tuned to work harmoniously when the regulator reaches its end-working pressure, the remaining air pressure in the airtube should be at the height of its sweet spot, which should then coincide with the reg’s set working pressure.

Anyway, when everything is optimally tuned, the series of the total amount of shots which includes the regulated air and unregulated air would look something like the shot string below when plotted on a graph. The entire string has an extreme spread of 22 FPS and a standard deviation of 3.4 FPS over a 320-shot count from 200 BAR to 40 BAR on the Cricket’s air gauge. The pellets used to generate the string were unweighed and unsorted .22 caliber 16-grainers giving an average output of 10 FPE. The gun is a Kalibrgun Cricket Standard.

If you want to flatter curve you have two possibilities:
1/ a little more add on hammer spring
2/ a little less on regulator pressure

All it depend how velocity do you prefer. If you prefer 880-888fps you can reduce a little regulator pressure. If you prefer over 900fps you can add only on hammer spring.

Wow, I thought the reg was set to 140. 66 shots with a 200 fill is amazing. Can’t wait for mine to arrive.

Can someone let me know how many shots you get starting at 200 bar until it falls off the reg? For a .22

I finally chrono’d from 200 Bar down to about 118 Bar.
The SD was better after 33 rounds being 2.6 or 2.8. Around round 52 the fps jumped a bit and it ended with 5.8. At round 66 the fps was dropping but still in the normal range. I think it was going off reg. at that point.

I didn’t know women could still sew! You lucky bastard!
