.25 cal Blod valve strings
I’m using a Talon with a 21″ .25 cal barrel, Blod valve, included heavy spring installed with powerwheel set to 00, stock Talon hammer. Top hat set at .258. Prochrony chronograph. Shooting Kodiaks.

Going to try a 75 gram hammer when it gets here, but i’m closing in on the bell curve. 😀 Too windy to shoot for groups, but i was hitting my 3″ target at 85 yards with regularity, though i was not really taking my time, and shooting off a bipod, no rear bag. What do you guys think?

That stress riser needs to be eliminated and wall thickness increased. If the metal work hardens then you probably are going to need to bake it for awhile and it would help to soften it a bit and relieve stresses stored in the stem as well.
What kind of stainless is it?
Is it stainless? drill rod would be better choice and modify the threading as posted to pabs

It seems you like to talk a lot of shit Walter, why don’t you tool up and produce them if you know so much.
I have only heard of a couple of problems with the stems; I believe it was a flaw in the material I used, and that is beyond my control that is why I replaced the parts for the customers.

Change the design back to what Blod built.

The valve parts are exact copies of the valve Sean sent to me, the only change that was made was the addition of the burst disc that I added to make my insurance company happy; in the US people love to sue so I wasn’t going to be stupid and release this item without liability insurance.
I do not know what you used for the stem but does that material work harden?

True. 3mm is all you will ever need( I found that much past this fps actually started to drop..) A flat faced breech, remove the powerwheel and use spacers. Unfortunately, this was not made clear at the time of selling( Again, I suspect these issues had not even been considered)
Real experience with the valve over here will eventually sort out the issues. Stowers shot string was quite good for sure. Mind you Rob’s string with a condor valve was amazing eh?
I think the problem is that Brad does not know what is required to take the forces of an airgun. Surely this broken stem will help him sort it out.
IMO a one piece stem is the way to go and make the available travel say the 3mm that Blod uses. No real reason for the tophat adustment in this design that I can see.
I don’t know if thats fair Grumpy. Sean didn’t want to make anymore valves. Most of the market was in the USA so it made sense to shift production over there.. Brad was in the position to take up production. Isn’t that what the ‘Free World’ is based on, opportunism….
Brad hasn’t made them right(in as far as the stem is concerned). The cross over from Seans UK Blod Valve to the USA market has not been addressed correctly. This valve was designed with UK models in mind. There are a few fundimental changes required by the Yankee boys to make this work as it was intended(powerwheel etc). That was never stated in the selling blurb…. I suspect it had not occured to anyone involved at the time…
