410 Woodwork
Given that I have a surplus of stocks for my 410 I’ve been toying with the idea of doing this so I can have a better cheek weld when using a NV scope.
Been wondering the best (easiest) way of doing this since I traded a newer beech with an older one without the rosewood caps on the pistol grip’s. Finally came to me today – break it down into triangles. And no, I wouldnt do it this way if I wasnt going to be using bedliner after…
Made a simple jig from a 2×4 and run the flat side of the forearm agaisnt it so cut off the entire comb.
Then with a trusty miter saw I’ve never used since wife brought it home I cut the ends off.
The ends will be bonded back to the stock with a filler peice to bring it up to the level it was before the saw took away material.
This is how it looks until I get around to making the metal adjustment parts.

Btw when anodising try to keep the acid bath low in temp. Otherwise it will start eating away the aluminium!

The bath temp never went above 75 degree’s with these small parts. I was anodizing a larger peice a few weeks ago and it got up to 100. I will likely make use of the hollow core of the cooler to make a recirculating chilled water cooling system by putting a hole on each side and have a pump move ice water through it.
Rust oleum is the best paint I have used so far. Not the truckbed but the hardhat version. Nice math black and dries fast!

The Rustoleum is what I use. Great texture I think. Found it at Autozone.

The anodizing left a nice matte finish and I decided to just seal it (boiling water) instead of dyeing it first.
Ta-da – (still needs second coat, going to wait 24 hours though)
