9mm for sparrows???
I think 0.177 are overkill for sparrows. I just spit BBs on them 🙂

We are lucky here in that the Fed has no jurisdiction whatsoever over airguns. The states, however, can and do sometimes. There are just a few badly behaving states and I moved from one (Illinois) and that and gun control was a part of the reason. 🙄 You can still own guns and airguns in Illinois but they like to control it more because of Chicago.

That discipline is near impossible to get going in Sweden due the stupid 10 J law. If your Airgun exceeds those 10 J you need a FAC like for any other Firearm.
Imagine one of those .40 cal Bazookas at 10 J. I can throw a stone in less arched trajectory.

For me, personally, havibg a FAC Airgun isn’t a concern since it is among my other FAC rifles but most guys never bother getting that ticket for their Airguns and settle for tuning their AG’s to full power anyway but you can’t enter a competition without FAC if the class you enter is for over 10 J.

.30……… shooting pellets is good in the 80 FPE range and hused for all small game, big birds and up to Coyote size at limited range

Shooting cast bullets ( the next Evanix coming out should ) 100-110 FPE should be nice and again for all games listed above, plus headshots on Hogs

.357 ….shooting pellets I would like a minimum of 130-140 FPE and can easily take a variety of game with it at limited range.

Those 2 I wouldn’t even include in the Big Bore category, more like Mid-Bore :biggrinn:

When you start to shoot Bullets in the 200+ FPE in .357 I think is when we can really start talk Big Bore

I can buy that arguement. It´s valid when / if one uses his Airgun for Hunting. That sport is strictly prohibited in Sweden (and many other European countries) and the only “game” legal for Airgun is small Vermin. There´s no use for anything over .25 cal for that since i can grab a suppressed .22 LR instead.
I know you hunt with yours so for you – and other Yanks who hunt with these – there´s use for larger cal Airguns. Here not much ..

There are many uses for big bores here, 100M silhouette competitions, 100M bench rest and 200M benchrest as the latest one. It’s just a matter of getting those sports going in Sweden as well. Although I must admit that I use .22 for 100M benchrest for now, but in windy conditions it is hard to beat a big bore shooting bullets.

That one would be my weapon of choice for Sparrows. 😯

Andy in Alaska shot three wild hogs with one shot; had them lined up at the feed spot. He was using a Ranger .45, which shoots cast Colt 45s.

Problem w/ XP is the long-term wait. I’m hoping they still produce rifles because I’ve been on the build list since April 2012. Andy was kind enough to ship me some bullets awhile back; they’re pretty impressive chunks of lead.

So, would you consider a modded Condor that shoots .25, 68-70 grain slugs at 927 fps a big bore? It makes a big bore style hole through metal!

Naaa. You are better off with a real big bore. Sparrows are a tough breed.

Target shooting = discipline where the pray is usually a quadrant piece of paper with circles. Some targets are moving ones but usually the pesky paper is standing relatively still. 🙂

Ho Yeah, automatically I go for the Hunting comparison/uses.

I don’t even know what target shooting means 🙂

AOA posted the 35 Cricket for sale and dropped it down $350’ish less. $1650 range

I always thought that The Sumatra .25 500cc would be a great gun to turn into a .257

It has plenty possible power, 6 shot mag and plenty air, Hope one day someone will do one

Nomadic, you seem to like big bore airguns, what do you think about the 257. Shooting cast bullets. From what I’ve read it seems to be top notch when it comes to foot pounds and long range accuracy. Would love to hear what everyone else feel as well.
