Q:

accuracy probs

hey guys, was wandering if ya’ll can help me with a lil accuracy problem…

when i shoot targets that are straight head to head such as 180 degrees… its dead on accurate…but when i shoot targets that are 45 degrees or higher i can see the pellets going a bit higher…

can anyone tell how i can fix this or tell me what im doing wrong…

i have a nikko stirling scope 6-24×56

Let us never speak of that again….. 😳

But I had posted way before that you guys should check it out!!!

Meh. 😆

Lol, I know what you mean. I posted ages and ages ago about the Combro chrony that straps to the muzzle. Said how great it was and cheap blah blah blah. Never heard anything.

Some one else 5 mths later brings it up and its like a fuckin’ revelation to everyone!! 🙄 😆

I vaguely remember you making a post that you had managed to launch your combro – prolly better that no one said anything 😆

Third post –

quote Yellow Ninja:

If I’m shooting at an angle I just guesstimate the horizontal distance to the target, ignoring the line of sight distance and that seems to work fine.

That didnt seem to get the message across so here is another post.. same thread..

If I’m shooting at a squirrel in a tree, I’ll measure the distance to the base of the tree…. that works.

I have a Pocket PC with Chairgun Mobile – But it isnt needed in these situations.

The fancy Ballistic caluclators in some rangefinder’s… all that does is use the angle and the line of sight distance to calculate the horizontal distance… same as just measuring to the base of the tree in my example above.

if the target is close IE 25 meters, i have to aim a dot above the center crosshair…buti if the target is 50+ meters i have to aim 3 or 4 dots above the center crosshair…

Turn up the power!!!!

well, i tuned it to shoot at 900-1100 fps so it wouldnt go super sonic…
and i dont think it will make a big difference if the target is close by…

i mean no offense yellow…im just very new to this as u can see…anywase this ends the story…and thanks GTBJ thats wat imma try to do

thanks for all the help guys

if your using the mill dots above the cross hairs then perhaps you should acutely zero the scope 😯

I have never used the mills above the cross hairs, these rifles have a high riding scope that will place the poi below the the cross hairs at shorter ranges than zero and good old gravity will place poi below on the long shot as well.

lol…duh…thats the point it wont focus in to get clear…thats why im i gave you an example…

example: theres a bird on top of a tree (50 meters), so the distance to the base of that tree is 35 meters, i set my scope to 35 meters, i can see the base of the tree perfectly clear…but when i aim to the top where the bird is, it becomes blurry, i try to focus to make it clear but it wont get clear unless i set my scope to 50 meters…

thats my prob if u didnt understand it the first time… 😆

Prior to this posts you had not mentioned a focus issue…. at all…

If “thats the point”.. well maybe you had better mention it in your initial psot, then people would “understand” and you wouldnt need to saying “doh” to people…

I’m not sure what the heck the problem is with you, your gun or your scope…. I could give you an answer, but who knows if there’s something else your neglecting to let us know.

sorry for the late response guys…i went hunting right after i posted the last post…anywase buzzcat, the targets that are 45 degrees and/or higher are a bit further away but it doesnt make a difference…i sighted at 15 meters…

verdecktjaeger, i checked out that link but i dont really understand it…lol, i am a bit slow i guest…if you can make it simple and juss tell me in ur own words that be great!

Voltar_1, now you just got me lost… make it a bit more simple for the beginners like me to understand…

anywase i went hunting with my friend and he has this cheap walmart pump pellet gun with a scope that came with it…anywase he doesnt have the problem that i have with my gun…with his gun it doesnt matter if the target is high or low, aim in the center of the crosshair and it will hit the target…

therefore, whenever i shoot at birds for examples on trees i have to aim a few dots above the center of the cross hair on my condor…if the target is close IE 25 meters, i have to aim a dot above the center crosshair…buti if the target is 50+ meters i have to aim 3 or 4 dots above the center crosshair…

i just dont understand why this doesnt apply to my friends scope…

thanks for the help in advance guys…

So once you get the distance figured out just refocus so the target is clear!

adjust the scope so you can see and use the mill dot that coincides for the horizontal distance.

quote Yellow Ninja:

hey yellow i tried doing that but the target becomes blurry through my scope… for example if the target is up in a tree and its at 50 meters but the horizontal distance to the tree is 35 meters the image of the base of the tree will be clear but when i raise it up to the target up in the tree it will become blurry…

help me out here! ahahha thanks for the advice man…

If the target is high in a tree, guess the distance from you to the base of the tree. Not the distance to the bird. Now shoot

Mike

Now THATS a formula I can use 😉

WoW! i got lots to learn…good thing these guns are so quiet i get a few shots at my target to figure out to aim high or low til i hit them suckers… 😆

now im off to research…thanks for all the help guys
