Airmax PCP Pistol
Mine showed today took a couple shots JSB 8.44 736/736 right out of the box. Trigger stinks, seems long and gritty. Going to need a trigger block either that or degass it. Didn’t realize my finger and thumb was so fat. Has a good solid feel and fairly loud. Not going to mess with it right now.
So what’s everyone planning for sights on this?

We ordered 10 samples of the red dot in the promo pics.
Needless to say they were lacking IMHO.
Not gonna be carrying those.
Still looking though
Time to offer a complimentary line on pretty good rifle and pistol scopes?
Drumie, you won’t believe it but my pistol is similarly outfitted until my BSA 2-7×32 Edge arrives. The scope I have on there now is the very inexpensive Winchester (Daisy) 2-7×32 rifle pistol. I had to mount it just as you have done. Shooting from a bag I am still relaxing into loading the pistol. I removed the handle to adjust the 2nd stage of the trigger. A hair too much and the sear would not engage. Nice! 🙂 The pull weight isn’t bad at all. I expect it will get better with use.I backed of the HST a bit, but Mike Esche, if you’re seeing this, how about a video tutorial on adjusting the regulator? Maybe a series of videos or one massive effort like Ed: “Almost everything you need to know about the Airmax Precision PCP pistol”?
having fun,
Darryl
PS I think the grip could be a little beefier. Or I need to shoot with gloves on. 😛 “fill your hands you sunzzabidges!!”
Nope the taco hold doesn’t require tall scope mounts.
Drumie, will that hold require tall scope mounts?
Darryl
I am thinking of throwing on a Leupold 3-9 EFR scope on one of mine. Just have to use the taco hold then. It is a very compact and light scope and focus down to a couple yards.
Drumie, much obliged, partner. What scope is everyone (anyone) else planning for this pistol?
Darryl
Darryl,
Yes that is the Bushnell. I just checked and both the Bushnell and BSA will focus down to 10 yards to about 3 power. More power and you need more distance.
Michael that is good information to know regarding what the pistol can do. I propose a contest to see who can tune to the highest fpe and the lowest ES\Sd. Winner gets a Huben K1 donated by MrodAir. How’s that?
Seriously you’ve done a great job bringing this gun to market. I’ll probably be the last one to verify the last hurdle; accuracy. I hardly think you’d bring this product to market without it being competitive in accuracy (at least) to it’s contemporaries in.
Drumie, thank you for the feedback.I hope you find both the 2-7 and the 2-6 capable of focusing at less than 10 yards. Purely for competition, of course.
The Bsuhnell? http://bushnell.com/all-products/rifle-scopes/elite/elite-handgun-riflescope-2-6x-32-multi-x%C2%AE
thank you fo rchecking,
Darryl
Darryl,
The BSA works great at 10 yards. I do have a BSA 2-7 and a Bushnell Elite 2-6 pistol scope. I will have to check if they both focus down to 10 yards. I will check and get back to you one it. The Bushnell is a awesome scope, but on the pricey side.
Michael,
Thanks for bringing in a awesome PCP pistol. Looking forward to the adj. video. I will be staying busy with these 2 pistols for a while.
Darryl,
You will find the AirMax precision capable of over 700 fps with simple adjustments using the 18.1
Loves the chp and 15.89 too.
When tuning for paper, 60-65 shots per fill (not a misprint)
Second stage trigger adj, is just under the front of the grip.
Video on adj ect coming next week.
thanks Drumie, I’m looking for a 4x something or other, maybe variable, maybe AO adjustable. I’m really hoping to find something that will focus inside of 10 meters so I can plink to my heart’s content downstairs. So far I need to keep searching. Maybe a rifle scope with long eye relief and a cradle shooting position?

I’ve had to order an offset scope mount as I need an extra bit of eye relief to be comfortable behind the gun. Should be here next week. Let us know how the Leapers dot sight works out for you.
BTW I see a simple pellet tray in my head. It sits on the loading gate, which when open swings the tray into position. Anyone with proper equipment know how to make that happen?
