Q:

Airmax PCP Pistol

Mine showed today took a couple shots JSB 8.44 736/736 right out of the box. Trigger stinks, seems long and gritty. Going to need a trigger block either that or degass it. Didn’t realize my finger and thumb was so fat. Has a good solid feel and fairly loud. Not going to mess with it right now.
So what’s everyone planning for sights on this?

It is just a BSA 2-20mm. Works fine. I got a Vortex Venom red dot coming in for it.

Drumie, much obliged for the tips. Good mini review. What 2x scope are you using?

I just got my pistol today. I just did a quick once over with this pistol. This one is in 22 cal. I always start by cleaning the barrel, well when I couldn’t get the patch worm through the shroud and didn’t have a straw handy I just unscrewed the shroud. But to my surprise the barrel unscrewed from the gun. Well that made cleaning the barrel easy, and good thing. The barrel was very dirty. So anyone getting one make sure you clean the barrel. After running a bunch of batches through it with simple green I screwed the barrel back on. But it kept spinning in the bushing in the breach end of the gun. I thought this isn’t good. But once I took the shroud apart, the end of the shroud threads on to the end of the barrel and pulls the barrel tight so it won’t spin. Good design. So time to fill the gun up. I never really liked the design of the fill probes. But this one isn’t as bad. It has a Quick connect on the end, not threaded. So you don’t need a adapter. Another great design!! Ok I did some quick shots over the chrony. 18gr JSB are shooting around 460fps. Not bad. I haven’t done anything with the power yet. I put a 2x pistol scope on it and did a few shots at 10 meters. It seems to be grouping good, but I was shooting fast and I didn’t have a real steady rest. It appears it will group just great. Over all the gun is awesome. I like it so much I just ordered another in .177 and one for a friend in 22cal.

I’d better get in on this thread! Yesterday I received my Airmax pistol, in .22. In loading it I saw one simple thing to improve the loading process; when the breech gate is swung open, it rests at a point in relation to the barrel where it makes a tight maneuvering to install the pellet. it’s not bad, just a bit unfamiliar. Anyway, my suggestion would be to alter the swing breech by cutting a sort of pellet tray into it (which aligns with the barrel end) to facilitate easier loading. Where’s my rat tail file? Other than that, I like the feel of this gun. Once I get scope on it (I’m looking!) and can test it’s accuracy I’ll know if I bought a winner. In all other ways it already is, in my view.

PS got any decent pistols scopes at MrodAir?

I went out to the shop and installed a bug buster 3×9-32 on mine. As it came it was shooting 18.1’s at 537 to 540fps. Just taking out most of the first stage travel really sweetened up the trigger. I turned the hammer spring up some and it shot 18.1’s at 619fps. Could have turned it further. One thing, if you rest your thumb no matter how lightly on the end of the hammer, it will cause variations in fps by quite a bit. 20fps or so. I’m very pleased with it, at 5 or 6 yards it was all hole in hole. It has a 9″ barrel and is very light weight. Regards, Tom

Mike,

These actually have many parts that interchange with our M-10 pcp rifle, including the Airtube.

Lots of goodies are coming to mind.(including SLRS adaptor)

Carbine and larger cal to start, just have to see how far we can push it.

Rocks over 700fps in 22 without mods and stock barrel.

The tube is 7075 alloy, big plans.

Lovin it.

quote Mrodair:

Forgot to mention the sights.

We ordered 10 samples of the red dot in the promo pics.

Needless to say they were lacking IMHO.

Not gonna be carrying those.

Still looking though

Thanks for the trigger info Michael lol. Seems to have been left out of the manual. Is there going to be a adapter for the SLRS?

Hey Mike,

Glad it made it quickly.

The trigger is adjustable for first stage travel and second stage sear engagement.

First stage is on the trigger blade.

Second stage, is under the grip.

Also adjustable for hammer spring tension under the grip.

These are stock out of the box and the triggers have been “lawyer adjusted” from the factory.

They can be made pretty crisp second stage and light first.

We thinned down the engagement width on one and then can be very very light.

Pull the grip and have a look.
