I purchased a Daystate huntsman and an FX whisper while waiting for the EDgun. if the EDgun shoots better than those two we are in for a real treat. I dont have alot of experience, but the Daystate is very hard to miss with. I am very pleased with both, like Hoot says you put your crosshairs on something and suddenly a hole appears. Plus AOA has them on sale, just sayin, still lookin forward to EDgun, i thought ED said that the guys already on list would still pay the 1650$ ???????????

Given the market driven value of an otherwise perfectly normal, single shot, bullpup rifle, with an excellent barrel, acceptable but less than stellar machining, and a badly dated mechanical breech loader, the current “waiting list” people have a decision to make, and probably within the next month or so. (It was mentioned Oct/Nov as a likely receipt date for more Edguns)
Do you pop for the $2K to $2.5K for your Edgun Standards, Longs, in the caliber of your choice, and take a chance that an improved model is not already in the works? Which, given the secrecy of the Edgun operation, is not beyond possibility.

Buying an Edgun is fast becoming a fool’s game, a very high priced fool’s game. While it was a great little, expensive, single shot, pcp bullpup at $1650, at $2000/2500 USD you are paying a market driven $500 premium to get one.
Let’s hope that Ed will have enough marketing sense to price the electronic model at a ridiculously higher price than the single shot mechanical model.
If he prices it competitively, the current version’s value will drop like a pregnant whale off a flatbed truck. Unless he designs an upgrade kit for the older models, which would cut into his sales of the new electronic model…unless the re-do kit costs $1500, and your left nut!
Not that it makes any difference. He already has the buyer by both balls. And, more buyers are lining up, and dropping their pants, hoping to get a chance to let Ed squeeze their balls.
It’s like having a patent on air. Barring the Kalibr factor, Ed has the only game in town.

I have been waiting for my R3 25 standard for around a year also. (You would think that the biggest and most helpful Edgun whore here on the TAG would get preferential treatment, hasn’t worked for me so far: Ed and Tony; are you listening?) 😯 😆
When it does come in, I will put my R2.5 22 standard and my R3 22 long up for sale. I am going to get out of the 22 cals: the 25s are at least as accurate, hit harder and have a better BC. The downside for the 25 is less shot count and higher price for the pellets. I can live with that!
The R3 25 standard will be my truck gun and will be used for targets of opportunity while driving around out in the country. I fitted my R3 25 long with a BSA barrel and it still amazes me with how well it shoots/kills at over 100 yards! The R3 25 standard will also get a BSA barrel.
I don’t give a rat’s ass about magazines. I think that a magazine for a R2.5 or R3 would get in the way of a good “cheek weld”. I bought a 22 cal FX Royale 400 and paid $98 each for 2 extra magazines. I had to follow a post on the Yellow, and then modify them just to get them to work properly. I ended up buying a single shot loading tray for it and the tray would give consistently better 100 yard groups than any of the 3 magazines ever gave me.
I am absolutely sure that when/if Ed offers the magazine option, it will not be just something to please current Matador owners; it will work correctly and be just as accurate as hand loading each pellet.
I also don’t give a rat’s ass about semi auto/full auto ect. It would be fun to play with but, I don’t understand what benefit it would be for target shooting or hunting. If I get a chance at a 120+ yard shot on a ground squirrel’s head and I miss, I am pissed off and the GS doesn’t wait around for a quick second shot. I guess that the full auto “spray and pray” would come in handy there but; it just wouldn’t be the same as concentrating on the accurate (only) first shot.
I also hope that you are right about used Edguns going for $2500! $5000 would buy me a 303 Wolverine, give me money left over to make a .257” bull pup out of it and also allow me to buy a .257” Jack Haley air gun.
My self; I think that the R3s are almost perfect as delivered. I do think that a “good” BSA barrel allows them to be slightly more accurate but, the “good” BSA barrels are becoming very hard to find.
I need to email Ed and ask how the 9mm gun is doing and if I can “get on the list yet”!
Knowing the air guns that Ed makes, a 9 mm Matador that was rebarreled to.257” would be really sweet!

getting R3`s which I`d read had already been out in Russia for over
a year.Your questions are right on.There is really nothing else out there
that appeals to me.The Rapid TM1000 are nice.One of the BR guys has
one shooting great,but it took a while to get it that way and they only
have 180cc tanks.So for now its still Edgun.regards,mark

Several people are considering the Kalibr product and would like to see what the craftsmanship is all about.
I don’t know what caliber you ordered, but prime interest is going to be trigger smoothness, accuracy, loudness, finish, quality of machining, how well the magazine functions and if the lever cocking device is easy and robust enough to handle a lot of shooting.
We all have precious little information on the Cricket, except for what Zocoloco has blessed us with, and his Russian built Kalibr is not brand new anymore, so we are curious about what is coming out of the new factory in CZ today.

I am on the list for a Cricket. I got a note from Paul …should be here in 2-3 weeks. I will see how they are. I know the first production you should never go for. Lord knows i know that with the Rogue I got.

First you have to have an EDgun in order to make a clip. In 22 days exactly one year to the day on the waiting list. 🙁
I really don’t see how one could make a machanical self indexing clip for the Edgun R3’s. The whole breach would heve to be changed/altered ect.
Now the 2.5’s are a different story. Go back and check out all the earlier videos. There are a couple that have R2.5’s with a self indexing clip…no R3’s with a self indexing clip. Its the design, the 2.5″s barrel sitts up higher in the pellet area, thus it has room under it for an mrod style clip.
I don’t ever see anyone making a clip for the older 2.5 models, just because they are the older models. Also I don’t see any for the current R3’s…It would be a kinda major change of the whole breach area.
I am not all impressed with ANY of the full/semi/auto/electronic trigger vids. I know exactly what board he is playing with that does 300/600/1200 rps and selects 3..6..or 9 shots…or full auto.
The board used in all these videos is a Drozd BB motherboard, that has had modified or replaced with Sergey’s board.
Droxd BB motherboard…50-60 bucks….Sergery’s board a few hundred.
Sergey Pismensky…another Russian, some kinda electronics gurru, makes these boards..and I’m POSITIVE, these are the boards ED is playing with. If Ed wants it done right..then this would be the guy to call.

With the above being said, I like my single shot gun..1 Pellet at a time is fine with me. My little homemade clip is used just for target shooting from the bench, but it is cool.

Not much to report. The magazines arrived in the mail today. I looked at them, but other than getting the impression that they look easy to break, haven’t done anything.
