An old Edgun Magazine video

Guys….consider the Edgun mechanical magazine being discussed!

Ed will more likely produce an atomic clock, when all we wanted was a watch!

Think for one minute…would a mechanical, self-indexing, magazine take care of 99.999% of your multi-shot needs?

You could probably retrofit your Edgun for a few hundred bucks, quid, rubles, etc…. Owners would bitch, but probably most would pay up for an Edgun OEM upgrade kit. That being said, an affordable mechanical magazine could have been in our hands a year, or more, ago.

Ed has a current video showing development of a fully programmable electronic valve, trigger, single/semi/full auto shot configuration. We might surmise this is the route he has chosen to develop for his next release.

I’m sure there is a market for the full electronic version, and buyers would still stand in line to obtain one, and pay the premium price likely to be asked for it.

But what about those of us who simply need an ordinary, affordable, mechanical magazine?

If you are standing there, like sheep, waiting for an Edgun magazine kit to drop down from Ed-heaven, and land on your breech…you are likely to be quite disappointed. Even with Kricket breathing down his marketing neck, he still hasn’t given the current owners a mechanical magazine.

Nor is he likely to. There…I said it! Ed will NOT release a mechanical Edgun magazine kit. Am I psychic? Not at all. I’ve simply listened to what he has stated many times.

He has made it abundantly clear many times, this “Edgun” thing is HIS hobby, his source of enjoyment, his personal recreational pursuit, and the market will not dictate his improvements, nor his direction of development. Unless, of course, he happens to think the idea interesting, and worthy of pursuit. A mechanical magazine kit would be child’s play to him…thus, not interesting.

More power to him. It’s his game, his rules.

But…if the current owners want a mechanical magazine, it cannot be that difficult to modify a spring-loaded Marauder magazine to work in the existing Edgun breech! The simple act of cocking the Edgun self-indexes the magazine, and presents the next pellet to be pushed into the barrel.

The Marauder magazine simply has to be fitted to the existing breech, and lined up with the barrel. Honestly, is it THAT difficult? I examined my Marauder breech tonight. It’s stupid simple. The only thing it does with the magazine is hold it in place with friction. That’s it….nothing more. The magazine does ALL the work!

Doesn’t anyone with a small milling machine on our forum want to make money off this? Ed apparently doesn’t, nor is he even slightly concerned about others making mechanical magazines for his bullpup.

I am confused by the delay….every Edgun owner out there would want to own two or three. Or…are all the machinists on this forum that rich???

Well, I just ordered a couple of MROD mags to try this on my .25 Matador. I’ve looked through your notes and pics; have you figured out any thing new since this thread was last active?

I’ll post again if I can get this to work or if I think of anything new that would be helpful.

We have plenty of capable machinist types here on TAG. Now if “someone” could let their multi-shot adapter go for a week or so maybe it could be replicated…!

Who knows, maybe even a 25 caliber one might pop up! 😀
