how about this for constructive criticism…

Gamo can lick my puckered star fish 😆

Yes, to each their own, but don’t put down what someone else has or can afford because you “think” in your view it’s a piece of crap. Does one really have to put another down to make themselves feel good or something? How about some constructive criticism about a product. List the pros & cons & be done with it.

I’m an Architect & don’t go around telling everyone that doesn’t have a certain type, style or build of house or appliances, furniture, etc. that their house & everything in is a piece of crap. Sell it & get a “real” house. ❗

quote robinsonmac:

Again, I agree but most people don’t have $300+ of disposable cash to spend on a nice springer. Otherwise there would be a very small market for cheaper rifles. Again the average person buying a springer will buy it from a big box store & it will cost less than $200. Those are just the facts. Buying a $300 – $400 springer air rifle is not the norm. The hobbyist w/ more knowledge & disposable income will pay for what they want. Plus, in the US air rifles are competing against firearms, whereas in other countries they have been pretty much banned from the general public. Look @ the average age of most forum members, it’s over 50. This is their hobby & they are the minority & generally have & will spend more on a rifle. A person going to a big box store is not looking to spend $400 on a springer rifle or $12 for a tin of 200 match grade pellets. They will buy the $7 tin of 500 Crosman pellets.

I can say this because I am the average person who bought a springer from a big box store & don’t have the disposable cash to buy a $400 springer. In fact I would never pay that much for a springer, ever. I had a Storm XT & a chinese made Beeman. I now own a Talon & prefer PCP to springers. I sold the springers & got a 850 Magnum. A great rifle for what it is. I got a Discovery when it came out but sold it because it was too small for my frame. It was a great rifle & if it had a larger stock & bolt I would have kept it. I sold them to buy the Talon. I may sell it & get a Marauder. I don’t shoot in any ft matches or any competition. I enjoy shooting targets & the occasional small pest. Not interested in getting frigging 1/2″ groups @ 50 yards or shooting a pests eye @ 40 yards.

To each his own. In the end, he will make his own decision. Which, it just may be, that he takes the advice of Cygnus and others.

“ok hatsan is to be considered the worst piece of Turkish crap rifle there is

the only good thing they have are the dual weaver and dovetail mount

the torpedo series…is so violent i think you will have trouble finding a scope that will hold up…..and it shakes and vibrates like a mofo with crappy trigger and crappy barrels…when the diesling is burnt off…and power starts to fall slowly as the piston eats it self up it will still be a crappy rifle….some time ago someone posted barrels that had been cut through….some of the hatsans where missing rifling in the middle of the barrel…spare your self the grief and get a rws, beeman or weihrauch”

This comment just stinks of elitism. It’s like saying don’t bother buying a 300K house w/ crappy appliances. Buy a 800K house with Viking appliances. Or don’t buy that Camry or Accord it’s crap compared to my BMW or MB. Don’t buy that crappy $200 watch, buy the $1000+ one…………

Shoot a hatsan, gamo or crosman springer and then shoot one that costs more money. Decide which one you should have bought in the first place. You generally get what you pay for.

I still don’t like springers though…

Fact is, we know the tread starter, and he don’t want no POS. 😉

Cygnus X,

I’m not saying they are the best guns ever made. They are good for what they are @ the price they are sold for the average person. I think we tend to think that every person who buys one of these guns is a 30 year hobbyist. Sorry to say, that is not the case. The people who make up these forums are the minority, the niche market so to speak. It’s like buying a car. Generally, you get what you pay for. If you can live with what you paid for & are not a hobbyist (or wealthy) then buying a Honda, Toyota, VW, GM or even a Chrysler is great for the money you have. The problem is buying a Chrysler & thinking it should perform like a BMW. Or buying a Hatsan & expecting it to perform like a AirArms.

Most people have never heard of AirArms, Daystate,…..etc. If they go to a site like PA they see the marketing read some reviews & look @ the price. 9 times out of 10 if the average person with very limited knowledge of ariguns has to choose between a $700 – $1200 gun or a $300 – $600 gun with the same or similar features, which do you think they will buy. Even more so now that the economy has tanked.

Hatsan guns just as Crosman & other “lesser” or “less than perfect” guns have their place for the mass market. Occasionally a company will produce a product (Benjamin Discovery, & now the Marauder) that opens the door for a whole new group of buyers. Some times these prodcuts challenge the “better” products @ a much lower price point(Marauder) Similar to the “entry level” luxo cars like the Lexus IS, 3 & 1 series, CTS, C class,….etc In the long run these products are better for our hobby & will advance it not hurt it.

I killed a squirrel yestrerday with 4 fpe lol

its very likely that some rifles perform very well…you MIMGHT get a tack driver….or you MIGHT get a rifle that turns out to be a nightmare…thats the whole problem

when ever you see a used chinese springer or PCP for sale, its probably because the owner have ended up with a crappy model….spent a few dollars to get it tuned….and it still doesnt do what he wants….thats when you see “used B40 for sale with pro tune” it really means…this rifle couldnt group when he/she got it…so he/she spent 50 bucks on a new spring and lube…adjusted the trigger…and it sill cant group..so he/she decides to cut their loss

heck i have had 3 BAM B50/B51’s my first B51 in .177 was ok after spring tuning….it would group CPH under 1″ at 50yards…pretty dang good for a 300 bucks pcp…and it would do 40-50 shots with less than 30 fps spread

then i got a B50…..it tuned to 55 fpe dead easy, acuracy was so and so

the next B50 was inconsistent as hell…accuracy was crap….

got a B40 for free….some days its ok….some days it will only shoot 2″ groups at 16 yards….i have no clue whats going on (suspecting shroud)

in denmark the Hatsans are very popular….dirt cheap, super powerfull….then when they eat the first scope or snaps scopestops, or rattle something else loose then you see the guys post on the forum if something can be done….general consensus is…buy a wiehrauch or RWS if you want a springer that works (plus danes can get the rifles in germany at a very favorable price 400-450 for a hw97k which is cheap in DK)

hatsans, Bams and what all their names are under the different labels are ok for a rifle stored in your vacation home which gets pulled out a couple times a year to plink cans at 10 yards….

take into account most of us at this forum are not satisfied with this….we want to be able to shoot the eye out of a squirrel at 30 yards…and headshot at 50 yards….and a bunch of us has been doing airguns for the last 10-20-30 years !

and ill say it again….power is not the most important factor…precision is…..12 fpe will kill a squirrel at 50 yards with a brain shot….12 fpe at 30 yards between the eye and ear of the squirrel will pass through (roundnose pellet) so how much more power do you want ?

Id take the cheapest RWS34 over any hatsan or Bam

They sell under the Walther brand in springers & the Webley(, Hammerli(Pneuma) & Air Venturi(Halestorm) brand for PCP.

This is from the Webley Website:

“NEW! Webley Air guns
Webley is probably the oldest name in the British gun industry – able to trace its origins back to 1790 when William Davies started making bullet moulds in his factory in Birmingham, England. Over the years the company gained a worldwide reputation for high quality guns of all types. As far back as 1911 the company had patented an air pistol and in 1924 launched the Mark I air pistol. Webley has long built up a reputation for well-engineered, high quality, high performance, value for the money air rifles, and that tradition continues today and will do so for many years to come. Today, Webley offers the Patriot, Jaguar, Stingray, Tomahawk, Domin8or and Longbow spring air rifles, Raider PCP air rifles and Typhoon spring air pistols as well as associated accessories. Made in Turky by Hatsan Arms”

When Webley started selling these the UK almost had a stroke…… From what I’ve read on the UK forums they aren’t bad just not Webleys. They liken them to Crosman products being sold as Webley.

I thought this was common knowledge…. but apparently not.

As a rule… Turkish, Chinese, and Spanish made springers are crap.

Sure, there are the exceptions, but I have worked on my fair share of springers and I will say that no amount of turd polishing will turn one of these guns into a European gun. If for no other reason, the resale value will be nowhere near that of a quality springer.

and that is how it is !

they dont have any resale value…your lucky if you get 50% of a blemish free rifle !

ohh BTW mythbusters have confirmed that you indeed can polish a turd to a very high shine ! now if i could only remember what kind of turd it was…lion was no good…was it giraffe, hippo or something like it ?
