I shot it for the first time at 75. First three shots went into one clover leaf. yea I stopped at 3 to save the target 😆 Today I let the wife shoot it and her only three shots did the same if not better! I have got to spend some time casting because this thing is great to shoot!

Yes it is the stock tank. If I can ever get this tax thing figured out, may be I can order a different tank from Doug. 😉

Is that with the stock bottle Thanks

Yeah, its a 21″ bbl. And I’m filling to 3200psi. With the lighter bullets, I get about 7-10 shots that are still good. or 5 before any fall off. With the 80 gr bullets, it is more like 3 before a drop off, but 5-6 decent hunting shots. The Lyman 53 .257 are right at 1000 and the NOE at 60 gr. is around 930fps. Now these numbers are with the thin shim under the top hat, and a thin “O” ring under that. It will go higher without the shims, but it is “LOUD” 😯 , and sucks the bottle inside out! 😀

I no longer have a 74 grainer, as that is the mold that I milled down to 54 grains. But I do have a 80 NOE that is not milled down and will test it in a week or two. Right now, haveing too much luck with the NOE that is milled down to 60 grains! 😀 😀 😀

Man,I need a “BIGGER TANK” ! 😀
was going to order one from Doug, but then I saw our TAXES on the Land we have been fighting for for over 4 years! We finally won. Now they say we owe the other guys taxes! 😯 WTF!!!, Grrrrrrr!!! 👿

24″ barrel

How long is your barrel?

I think Mike is getting close to 1000 fps wih the lighter slugs and was over 900 with 74gr. He only has a 20″ barrel also

Knifemaker,

What fill and shot string are you getting with your set up? Thanks

Sounds Good J.! 😀

Yeah, I kow what you mean. Cold and blowing like hell. 👿 Being a Texican, I hate COLD!!! 👿 👿 👿

Once you start casting your own bullets, you may want to have the mold cut down to around 55-60 grains. It will really help down range! 😉

First I want to say thanks to everyone that has posted their 257 info. It was a huge help!

Well I finally got it going my way today. My tap and die arrived so I fixed my sizer and sized 200 257420’s I got the barrel installed and took a few shots to see how it would do. If you are in Texas you know the wind was whipping pretty bad this morning. To make a long story short a little playing with the fill and power wheel and I am shooting an average 825 with a 13 fps spread from the top of the curve to the bottom for 7 shots with a 3100 fill. Accuracy in this wind was 7 shots into less than 3/4 of a inch at 45 yards. I did not get to stretch it out but continued to fire a few 3 shot clover leaf groups at 45 when the wind was just right. I am very impressed with this rig. I cant wait to move back to 75. I hope I have enough FPS to stabilize it at that range. I only have about 100 257420’s left so I need to save them for a nice day and see what they will do long range. I want to save a few for a pig or two! I would like to try a few lighter bullets to see how they fly.

Set up is a R and L valve, heavy hammer, 257 barrel all from randy. For the die and the barrel machining, and ammo I have to thank my brother.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey J! Any Uppdates to your quest?

Well there is something off with the sizer threads or my press threads…..tap and die are on order… I think it comes down to very tight threads on both. The sizer fits in another press but not mine. Thanks Cedric, I will keep him in mind if I cant get the 257420’s to fly right.

If I did that, OldGoat, RoachCreek, Tof, and Dyotat would all use me for a target! 😯 😆

I am very thankful to have this Cannon, and They all pulled strings and worked hard to make it hapen. So, final answer= it AIN’T going anywhere! 😈 Well, except hunt’n. 😉 😆

Knifemaker, you should just sell me your rig. 😉

This is what the .257 NOE 60 gr bullet did today at 80 yards. It is .198″ @ 80 yards with 3 shoots. This bullet is a cut down 60 grain bullet in which the NOE 80 grain mold was milled down to produce the 60 grain bullet here in my shop.

It has shot as tight as .090″ at 80 yards with this bullet.
