“I made this thread to help those looking to buy a Atlas bi-pod to make sure they get the real quality deal and not the Chinese knock-off that is out there. In this post I will point out some of the key things to look for to tell the difference between the two. Lets get started.

Due to the fact the mounts are interchangeable between the two, I have removed them for the pics. With that said, just because it has a real mount doesn’t make it a real Atlas.

These are the two mounts, the real ADM mount that comes on a BT10-LW17 on the left and the Chinese mount on the right.

Now on to the bi-pods themselves.

At first glance they look really similar, the real one has some dirt on it because it has been used and with great success.

Even from the other end the still look very similar, both displaying the same markings.

In fact they will both accept the different feet offered by BT for the Atlas.

But now we will get into the details where the Chinese version falls behind of the genuine Atlas.

The first and possibly easiest way to tell the difference is in the knurling on the bi-pod. The real Atlas has the regular style knurling you would expect with the little teeth sticking out for grip but as you can see the knurling on the fake is inverted offering far less grip.

When looking at the leg pivot stops you can clearly see the Atlas has nice machined edges and is thicker where as the fake is thinner, stamped, and with rounded corners.

When looking at the pivot bolt and pivot stop pin, you will notice there are slight differences between the real and fake. (real is on bottom)

And the last major difference is the fact that the real Atlas will both tilt and pan while the fake will only pan with no tilt at all.

(Now the pictures are showing an older style replica…the one from greenbase is more detailed and has the pivot motion along with a better pivot bolt….when I get my new atlas from greenbase ill post pics up for comparison)

Ville and or jetta do you guys have one or are you going by the pictures on GreenBase?
Would like to have first hand knowledge to be sure cuz they probably just poached the pictures of a real Atlas.

I ordered two of them few days ago so i don´t have mine yet. That said – a friend of mine has one and it´s exactly like the one shown in the pics on GB website. I´ve bought quite a bunch of stuff (scopes, red point, lasers, swivels, bipods, mounts, glowes and whatnot) from them under a longer period of time and everything is always what it´s said/shown to be so no problems on that part. Yet anyways .. 😉

I ordered my atlas from greenbase 2 days ago… So when I get mine ill post up pics

Yes it does and the position plate is way thinker and has more definition to it unlike the one pictured above….

The Greenbase “knock off” or whatever definitely has both the tilt & pan function.

I was going to copy that post and put it here last night too so the guys talking about these knockoffs could see what they are like, but was too tired to get all the pics done so didn’t do it. There are only 2 things I would be worried about with one of these Chinese ones. First is the smoother leg pivot stops not holding the legs where you set them and slipping especially when putting pressure on them. Second, that it has pan, but no tilt. Seems that would make using it very limited and much more difficult to get the proper position you need for a shot.

Way ahead of you my brother…already edited the original post with name of the member and link to the site.
It was pretty late and I had to save all the pictures and load them into my photobucket to bring them over to this site. My apologies.

Yea Im a member overthere and thought it would be helpfull in the discussion on these replica atlas bipods. And because if your not a member the photos would not be viewable..

May I suggest that we always quote/credit the source when we use material from other sites/people….????? 😉

There are copyright rules out there that have made a few people veeery poor because they did not observe those rules……….. 😀

Just my two cents……..

Trygve 😀

I started reading your post and it sounded *very* familar…

…because it was originally posted by a member over on Sniper’s Hide a month ago.

Kasey (the designer and manufacturer of the Atlas) gives some input in the original thread as well.

No the bipod in comparison was a atlas replica from an airsoft website.
When I get the one from greenbase ill post up some pics.

Is this the Greenbase bipod?

Thanks a lot for sharing a comprehensive review.
