Pip I don’t know about barrels being considered”poor” just because they got better after lapping. I have had many custom expensive rifle barrels from well known custom makers who’s accuracy improved after lapping. This is a common practice amongst bench ready shooters. Lapping is very labor intensive, it is never done on production guns .
Keyser, do you consider Edgun LW .30 cal barrels need lapping?
This would be very disappointing and meaning that probably they are not match grade barrels.
Hopefully this is only a .30 cal issue.
Those ones owning older CZ, BSA, Anschutz and real LW match grade barrels probably should keep them jealously.
Progress apparently is made in East Asia and some korean barrels seem to be really good.
Would be nice to compare nowadays western to eastern production.
I just lapped my barrel. I noticed I was getting spiralling at every speed. Upon further inspection I saw that the shroud had shifted slightly. The last baffle was clipping pellets ever so.slightly.
My fault for looking for a complicated answer when a simple one was right there. At any rate the lapping proved so far to be worth the time. Currently I am shooting the 44.75 at 900 fps and they are flying perfect. I am waiting on the new Eagle vision camera and I’ll make a video shooting 44s over 880
I have not experienced that issue with the 44gr pellets. Also, as currently set up she shoots 50’s at 850. But, I have not grouped the 50’s yet.

Do you have any problems with spiralling past 880 FPS?
750 shots and still trucking. I have it dialed in at 885 now with moderate HST. Amazing how the new hammer transforms the Gen 1 .30. :8:
TGIF!

Anyone else get the Hagan Gen 1 fix yet? Results?
1. Renval 2. Me 3. ?
Very nice! Have you shot any groups with it yet?
Latest 21 shot string with 120b reg and a bit more HST but time limited:
44 gr, Avg 874.3/SD 3.1/120b reg. 75ft/lbs. So far so good! :8:

Thanks. It been quite the journey…kinda like dating a crazy stripper but with a happy ending.

Glad to hear that you finally got it working properly!
I have dialed it down a bit. I am just happy to have it where it’s suppose to be. I have really not had much time to focus on accuracy due to the issues with with the valve stem and hammer. I can’t even guess how many times I’ve had it apart trying different springs, stems, and pressures. Once I get a chance I will shoot some groups and advise.
With that said I just switched out the 4mm stem to a 3mm stem, dropped the reg to 120 and loosened up the HST. Shooting 860 with 44gr. I will say it has a much smoother cocking action and the trigger is more consistent with the Hagan Hammer and HST adjuster.
Glad to have the best .30 up and running.

Please test accuracy with the speed of 900 FPS. Many people claim that the accuracy is poor then.

with standard barrels…..
Match grade barrels shouldn’t need lapping IMHO (even though some would still lap and polish…)
