Barrel Guided Hammer
Bought the stuff to do this a month ago. Got tired of waiting for my new machine so I desided to make it on my little lathe. Will be so much faster and easier with digital readout. I was having problems with gun not cocking under heavy spring load. Played with it and figured out it was the delrin on the front of the hammer where the hammer slap mod is. I put a new one on and it cocked perfect. I guess with the edge worn and the play in the hammer it wouldn’t hold anymore. Not any more. Hammer is guided by the barrel and feels like it is running on butter. I had Tony’s hammer and it weights 93 gr so I desided to make the new one a 100 gr. Also put the o ring back in the hammer. Now I will use the 95 gr in the .22 condor I’m buiding until I figure it out and make another barrel guided.

Here is the hammer I made for the .257
Started 3 more today .25, .257, and a .308.
Also made this yeaterday so I can tether 3 guns at one time.

Made a hammer for tworr and finished it today. Machined his barrel down to .597″ and cut the hammer to .598″. Came out great. Found a borring bar with a nice pointed insert that will cut the nylon as good as high speed steel does. No more reems. I was also asked if I could make it adjustable. At first I said no, but I figured out how I could do it. Goes from 80 gr to 111 gr.
With this setup it is 98 gr
Also sent him some wider bushings to help with .308

Made the new hammer for .22. Made it long as possible so it is guided over the breech step. This is as long as they can be made and still have full power wheel. Also making the hammer for .308. Same except it will be 115gr or 110gr, not sure yet.
Ok finally made a new hammer for the .25 to replace the original barrel guided one. Was 110 gr but I took .200″ off the spring end because it wouldn’t cock past P/W 10 and now it is 108 gr. I made it longer on the spring side so it would have more hammer on the barrel when it hits the breech. Original doesn’t even have nylon all the way to the end on the spring side.
Haven’t had time yet. To many open project.
btw…did your sleeved ali. breeches ever come to fruition?

Anyone thinking about getting one of these you wont be disappointed they are made with great craftsmanship. Have one myself good stuff 😈 😈
Sorry guy’s but I have to raise the price to $120.00 shipped. I’m making them different and better then the first ones I made. It just takes longer now but the hammer will last a long time now.

This is probably a silly question, but what is the benefit of the barrel guided hammer? I love the look of that hammer!! I really want to have a side-cocker mod done, I’m just worried about whether or not the handle being threaded into the breech is going to be strong enough- there’s a path I’d like to go, but don’t know if it would be easier to just keep the same basic design from AF. Thoughts?
