Barrel Guided Hammer
Bought the stuff to do this a month ago. Got tired of waiting for my new machine so I desided to make it on my little lathe. Will be so much faster and easier with digital readout. I was having problems with gun not cocking under heavy spring load. Played with it and figured out it was the delrin on the front of the hammer where the hammer slap mod is. I put a new one on and it cocked perfect. I guess with the edge worn and the play in the hammer it wouldn’t hold anymore. Not any more. Hammer is guided by the barrel and feels like it is running on butter. I had Tony’s hammer and it weights 93 gr so I desided to make the new one a 100 gr. Also put the o ring back in the hammer. Now I will use the 95 gr in the .22 condor I’m buiding until I figure it out and make another barrel guided.

Here is the newest one. A little over 91 gr. Going to make a 105 gr for my .25 and a 90 gr for the .22. Going to machine my .22 barrel down to .600″ where the hammer sldes because it is tapered.
Couple more. Left one is 75 gr and right one will be 92 as requested. Going to make the 92 different on the end will post pics.
No glue. I cut a grove and it pushes in snug. As far as I know nothing really sticks to delrin.
What is the best adhesive to glue a rubber O-ring to a brass or delrin face ?
You have to pay for that option.
He probably charges extra for the mod, and it didn’t come up in your conversation 😆
I just bought a hammer mid year and it didn’t come with an o-ring ???

Anyone know why Tony does his Hammer Slap mod on the breech and not on his hammers ?
Material didn’t change for hammer slap mod. It is oil filled nylon so it is lubricated on the barrel. O ring is on hammer because of the notch in the breech. It is easier to do on the hammer.
Explain to me why you switch from delrin to something else on your hammer slap mod ?
Do you prefer the o-ring on the hammer as opposed to the breech ?

Have you tried using HSS on the plastic? Sharpened and honed with a diamond file, I find it works much better than carbide with plastics.

This stuff is harder then delrin. It is oil filed cast nylon 6. Self lubricated nylon. Delrin machines like butter and this stuff is a pain in the but. I have had one in my gun since July. The stock delrin piece on my other after market hammer wore enough that I started having miss fires. I run a heavier hammer spring and it is harder on the edge of the hammer. I just poped a new stock delrin piece on and cut the o ring grove and fixed it. Works just fine in the .22. So far no signs of wear and the ones I’m making now with my new machine are even better then the one I made on my small lathe.
Is nylon tougher then delrin? Which one is more wear resistant?
