Q:

big-bore springers?

Make a long story short http://www.airgunadvice.net/viewtopic.php?t=15334 caught this post from a newbie asking about .25 cal HW80.

Well I had to nicely tell him not be silly. Just because the manufacturer is putting a larger barrel on a 17 cal power plant does not mean it is right. I tried to explain it.

Next thing you know the usual butt-heads come in with their 2 cents and their stories about 100 yard shooting with HW50s πŸ˜€

And we wonder why they sell us smooth twist barrels?

I thought we are supposed to teach people the right airgun principles.

You try to explain something to people that bigger caliber is sure is good provided you have that muzzle energy behind it.

I don’t get it… but I think airgun forums should be informative with the right information that teach people good, basic principles of airgunning and caliber selection.

let me drop a golf ball on Skiffs head at 30 FPS and then drop a bowling ball on his head at 10 FPS then lets here his “big .25” bashing LOL

With your example the bowling ball with fall faster on my head then the golf ball. Heavier objects do fall faster, basic physics πŸ˜€

With springers whos power plant 25×100 .25 cal pellet will travel shorter and with greater arc, then the .17 cal pellet fired from the identical gun.

You people are missing the point, or just fucking around. I am simply saying for each power plant use the appropriate caliber..

and it breaks down kind of like this..

15-25fpe 17 cal
27-40fpe .22 cal
50 and up .25cal..

I myself as far as springers go even the super magnum once like gamo 1250 will take it in .17 cal, and use heavy pellets. This way the trajectory will be flat, you will shoot further, and have some good penetration power.

.22 cal is strictly for FAC pcp’s. I don;t know why it is new to some of you. The more I shoot the more I realize that the old school guys are right.

Manufacturers know this, but put .22 and ,25 cal barrels on all models to generate sales. But springers with 25×100 parameters should only be made in 17 cal if you want to be textbook perfect. If you don’t care about, and shoot in your back yard, you can shoot what you want.

At what distance? πŸ˜† If you shoot crows in you living room them maybe..

What do you mean “at what distance”???
Whether the pellet was shot from 10 yards away or 100, 3-4 fpe on the target is 3-4fpe on the target!!

WTF?? πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

YES but ya have to realize 3-4 FPE from a .177 will penetrate farther!!! lol let me drop a golf ball on Skiffs head at 30 FPS and then drop a bowling ball on his head at 10 FPS then lets here his “big .25” bashing LOL

Lol, good analogy Crow’ :thumb:

Look, this clown Skiff is obviously clueless. He have never hunted anything with an airgun. Period. No concept whatsoever. Just look at how he defends his pathetic agenda on the AG Advice forum. He provides the same fucking pictures on the same thread over and over thinking they will prove his point on their own. And that’s after so many told him he is full of shit! He even said that .177 is best at longer ranges! Forget that silly .22 and .25! LMAO.

Good shooting there.
I shot and mesured my 25 caliber marauder today at 45 and it hit an exelant group under an inch with the 43 grain EJ’s and was holding at 48.57 footpounds. That’s more power than the 22 short highpower remington makes. No mods done just opened the airway to 4 turns as speck say to do to make it wide open πŸ˜€

get a load of this crow shot with a morini and a wadcutter at around 25 yds.
wonder how many fpe but should be around 3 tops. pellet wt 7 grain fps prob 500 (yellow on the fill gauge)

crow at 50+ is no problem with an 18 FPE gun jack ass I have done it many times so fuck off faggot

Whatever the distance, boy. That’s what a pellet has to have on the impact. Since you have never hunted anything with an airgun, I suggest you buy yourself a new video game.

Try that with .177, kid… πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

Shot by the Yellow forum owner…with an FX you fucking hate so much.

Oh yeah, Dave chewed it for you pretty good, eh?

And you can always copy those pics HE provided for your next bullshit agenda!

Bullshit. No wonder I never see a decent group with .177 at a 100 yards mark you are so fucking fascinated about! LMDO!

But not necessarily @ 20fpe @50 yards it may not be enough to take the crow out cleanly..

Retarded fuck. A crow only needs around 4 FPE to be dispatched cleanly. Shot placement is the key in airgunning.

Yeah, absolutely.
