Christ hung like a horse….. Is this crucifix pornographic?
Apparently a church in Oklahoma hung this 10 foot crucifix above their alter that is supposed to show Jesus with a “distended abdomen”. What do you think?

Ok…I will leave it at that. I want to make it clear though that I am not trying to stir up things like JoeChemTroll did. I like reading all the air rifle information that is here.
However, I disagree with your position that it was chance that Christianity just formed by chance. All of those other ancient writings that are around have not influenced people like the bible has.
Also if God just created the conditions we are in now and let them run their course I would agree with you that he is a sadistic bully. Adam and Eve made the decision to break off on their own. Responsibility for our current condition rests on them. God put them in a paradise and told them if they did not eat from that tree they would keep living.
But I can see that most here don’t have the appreciation for the bible that I do. That was actually predicted in the bible as well. I would like to point out that I am not trying to sell you anything. I don’t get any credit if you listen or not. I see real benefits by living by the bible standards. If you don’t that is ok with me too. I am just trying to promote the study of the bible. Sit down a look at it before you just dismiss the whole subject.
I really do hope I did not offend anyone. I was trying to be careful with my responses and not step on any toes. It does say up in the description of the off topic section not to be shy so, No hard feelings?

I know you are impressed with the Bible and its contents. But if you really want to be impressed with ancient beliefs and knowledge then look to the Sumerians. It is the oldest written text we have and they were far more advanced then the desert tribes.
Just because some tribal chief wrote it down in a tent 3000 years ago in a desert on the other side of the world does not make it true. If Moses had been teaching Scientology you might be preaching that today.
Some people have a magical mindset and others do not. The fact is if someone tells you they have the answers to eternity, he either wants to control and manipulate you or wants your money.
If the Bible is true and God where put on trial it would be the best evidence to convict him of high crimes to society.

Mike, there is no evidence to even suggest that Jesus walked on this earth yet alone that he was the son of God. The Bible is written by men for men and I hope that there is no God as described in Christianity as that God is an evil, maniacal, tortuous and whimsical murderer who obliterates entire cultures and species. How many tens of billions of creatures were killed during the Great Flood? How many untold millions of pious men, women and babies were rent apart under God’s crashing waves and drowned in his cold waters? Is that a God that you want to follow and feel is warm, kind and loving? I don’t see a loving God in the Bible – I see a psychopath who gives Man freewill and then gets angry when we do not do what he wants. If God is all-knowing and all-powerful then we are all convicted by our thoughts as much as by our actions. Do you want to believe in and follow a God who will condemn you by thought crime alone?
What about all the knowledge they destroyed by killing and eliminating the Cathars and Gnostic Christians?

It is kind of like finding a copy of “Blue Book of Airgun Values” in 2000 years and believing it to be accurate when in reality it is a book compiled by a man and is not accurate and has an agenda other then accuracy.
That is a common opinion today. If you dig a little deeper it does not hold up. The bible is full of information that was way ahead of its time. When Moses was getting the law covenant, they were told to bury their dung outside the camp to prevent bacterial infection. They have found contemporary medical texts that said to use human dung as a poultice!! They were told to quarantine people with infectious disease outside of the camp as well. The book of Job chapter 26 vs 7 talks of “God hanging the earth upon nothing.” That book was written in 1473 BCE! They still thought the earth was on the back of a giant turtle or something. Not to mention all the prophecies that came true that were written hundreds of years in advance.
2 Timothy says “all scripture is inspired of God….” So while man was used to write it down, they were just in the position of being a “secretary” while God spoke. In the case of the book of Daniel, he wrote that book and admitted right there in the book that he did not understand what he wrote.
It is true that early churches compiled the books that were considered to be canonical into the collection we have now but you cant discount Gods involvement in making sure it was correct.
In the book of numbers chapter 22 after the isrealites left Egypt and started conquering surrounding nations one of the nations tried to hire someone to put a curse on Israel. He went to do it and wound up giving them a blessing! God can make sure his will happens no matter what. It is a funny read check it out.
If you step back and look at the big picture, there are 2 sides at war here. Satan started this whole rebellion and he is still here behind the scenes pulling strings. Revelation 12 vs 9 says “So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him…. “
Satan is waging a huge propaganda war trying to keep as many people as possible from learning the truth. That is why there are so many “new” books of knowledge being talked about today. In Proverbs chapter 2 it says that if you keep searching for the knowledge of God like you would search for hidden treasure, you can find it. It take some work though. There are all kinds of home bible study courses around. Look for one that strictly follows the bible and see what you think.

Mr. WOK… by your reference to Constantine I think you are saying that Jesus could not be telling us to read the bible because it was not in the form it is now during his lifetime. That is true. The Christian Greek Scriptures or New Testament was not even completed until almost 100 years after his death. However he himself read from scrolls that are now part of the Hebrew Scriptures that are in our Bible. He did say in the book of John chapter 3 vs 17 “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ”
All of that knowledge is contained in the Bible we have today.

If you think about it, in Genesis 2 vs 16 God said this to Adam “And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.” So mankind was created to live forever but Adam and Eve messed that up for us. Even the scripture above says that taking in knowledge would mean everlasting life. The whole bible points to how God plans to reconcile mankind back into that same condition. That is why we can hope to live forever.
I am not trying to push my views on anybody. These are not my opinions here, it is what the bible says. That is why I put down the chapter and verse so you can see for yourself. I know most people don’t want to hear this kind of stuff so I will leave it at that. In the ‘soul live on forever’ sense any decent religion for the most part offers this if you believe it.

But don’t forget while there are Billions of Muslims, Hindus and Buddhist who also would argue their beliefs have shaped their society and not Christianity.
