Q:

Condor 18" tony tuned

I ran a shot across the chrony today and got 1154fps with PW on 7…This thing sounds like a .22 mag. without a shroud…I will be really impressed if a shroud can quiet this thing down..Cross your fingers Don G..Wow!

Today was cloudy Harry so I didn’t use the white thingies…..

Ran 3 shots across the chrony with cloudy skies but not dark…..
1. 1134
2. erro1 <—–Not sure what I did
3. 1126
Don’t know what to say except…Dadgum this thing is loud…..

Are you using the plastic thigies on top of the chrony rods? I usually chrony indoors but if I remember correctly when it ‘s sunny out, you have to install the white plastic things to simulate clouds.

Don’t know the specs of the tune….I bought it from a guy that had it tuned…..Sorry no info on that…..

Those numbers do not surprise me at all coming from a stroked tony tunes slingin less than 16 grains. what hammer did he throw in it for you?

Your right Harry…They are 200 count…..I’ll run a few more shots across it today and see what I get…I was outside with clear skies…It didn’t sound like it went SS…It was more of a boom rather than a crack…..But i have the Kodiaks and Eun Jin’s both coming….I’ll get her tamed down….

Hey Harry one of three things might be in play here. He has a .177, hence the 500 count. OR he ordered the wrong caliber pellets Or typo.

My .22 Condor shoots a little tighter groups at 900fps than it does at 1,000fps.

mamcrackin: Kodiaks only come in 200ct tins. Are you sure you ordered the right ones? With an 18″ barrel, you will not be able to go over 1,000fps much with Kodiaks, if at all, and 18″ barrel. So you ‘re good to go. Eun Jin’s should get you closer to the 900fps range too.

1,154fps sounds too high even with JSB Jumbos. That’s what I get with 16gr JSB Predators (~1,170) & 24″ barrel Condor, so your 18″ Condor is unusually powerful, or you are not using the Chrony properly. If you are indoors make sure you use the optional indoor lights for the Chrony. When I was talking to Tony ~8mos ago about building me an 18″ Condor, he was talking about 50 to low 50’s FPE with EunJins. You are getting 46+fpe with 15.8gr pellets that weigh almost half that of EunJins..(?) Check the Chrony directions for outdoor use in a sunny or cloudy day. Something is not right..

Does Tony use Kodiaks for his tuning? As far as, say, a .22 with a 24″ barrel and shooting 21.1 Gr. as close to 900-1000 Fps. I think most people agree if you try to go too fast accuracy suffers, but is there a difference between 900 Fps. and 1000 Fps. ?

I thought I would put the 18″ on and have the 24″ in reserve for more power if the 18″ didn’t produce enough but now….I guess I’ll have to get a 12″ too…..decisions decisions decisions…..

those will keep you slow enough

You should be okay with the Kodiaks and if not get the Eunjins. I would love to have your problem. 😆 I hope I have to turn mine down when I get my .25 barrel.

Man…Now that is a delima….Well let’s just hope the heavier pellets get the sound down to a managable level or I will be forced to keep my Talon SS…That would be a shame to have 2 AF rifles…..
There are some kids in china that don’t even have 1…..

mamcrackin, I wouldn’t mess with it.
Tony gets them set up for the best performance in both power and consistency, if you start messing with anything you will loose the power and more importantly you will loose that constant shot string he is famous for, just learn to except the fact you own an 18 inch monster that requires heavy, heavy loads of led to eat 😈

Thanks fellers….I will definately tune it down…..I have a chrony so it shouldn’t be a big deal….I am looking for something consistant between 8-900 fps….
