Q:

Condor .22 cal w/12" barrel accuracy

Gentlemen,
Compare to 24″ barrel, how’s the accuracy with a 12″ barrel @ 50 yard using EunJin 28 grain? Or should I just stick with the 24″ barrel. Thanks.

It has long been known in bench rest comp and other types of high accuracy shooting, that a bbl that is just long enough to get the desired velocity and stabilize the bullet will be usually the most accurate. The longer a bbl is, the longer the projectile is effected by harmonics and follow through. So a 12″ being slightly more accurate than a 24″ bbl with our weird reverse traveling hammer is more expected than not.

For short range, lower power, high precision shooting, a shorter bbl. should have an edge all else being equal. The projectile is out of the bbl. sooner, with less chance of sight alignment being disturbed by mechanical vibrations or shooter error before it exits.

For Long Range and high FPS and high FPE a longer bbl. is the ticket! 😉

I have a condor but probably shouldn’t say anything about a 12 inch barrel but Blue Jay has and from my experience I have shot allot of gunpowder guns in several calibers and the barrel length in that range almost always shoots about the same it is like Blue Jay said there can be a difference and sometimes hard to tell, allot of it depends on the crown or end of the barrel I am sure Airforce guns would be the same hope this helps I am new to the air guns but am learning allot from all of the guys here on the forum I am sure there will be more post to help you out Eddie

with kodiaks my 12 incher is just as or a wee bit more so accurate as my 24 inch barrel.
