Q:

Daystate Batteries

Got my Airwolf for christmas and my battery is already junk. Charged it overnight upon reciept or at least i thought i did (gun beeped and red light flashed). Shot it a couple sessions charging after each.Went to the range week before last got all set up to shoot, chambered pellet and nothing. Went home pissed off and put it back on the charger for about ten hours took it off and still nothing. Reset the default settings shot the chambered pellet out (big sigh of relief) turned it off and put it away. Took it back to the range this week figured id discharge an empty shot before i chambered a round just to make sure and nothing. I know its been turned off before being put away, charged with the yellow attachment that came with the charger (that one fit the best). I dont know if i got a bum battery or what, AOA says there sending me a new one on warrenty as soon as the next daystate shipment arrives. i ask if they have any in stock they say no they dont stock them. I suggested they might want to start and the guy tells me we’ve never had a problem with the batterys in a voice that suggests that Daystate is beyond reproach.

Anyone had their gun separated from the stock? Is that allen head bolt torqued down so tight that i’ll have to reef on it to get it out?

Anyone with similar problem?

Shame we can’t ship air guns USPS. 😕

^ X2 (on the little shipping placs, NOT boosting it from work 😉 😉 )

I took a iltle package in to one of those little stores and they wanted to charge me $27 to ship it to my dad (no insurance), who lives about 300 miles away…

I took the same box to the USPO and it cost about $9 to ship it (with $800 insurance on it) 🙄

Figure that one out 😯

I figure they’ll be there another month or so 😛

Just boost them from work like everyone else 😆 . Seriously though, most U-Haul rental places sell boxes, peanuts, bubble wrap and tape. Those pack and ship places are a total rip-off.

got a call from steve at AOA tonite he told me the wolf made it through the mother board surgery and should arrive by next friday.

im actually glad the board was replaced instead of reprogrammed. as i would have worried about its integrity and would be super pissed if i had to send it back for more board related repairs.

looks like ill get to shoot that feild target match on the 18th after all.

i did however get bent over by one of those pack & ship places when sending her out. 102.97 for shipping and insurance to arizona. ten dollars worth of box and peanuts and they said the rest was shipping and insurance. i said they only charged me forty to ship it here and she said maybee they got a discount because of volume. i said 60%, thats a hell of a discount. to which she had know eply.

anyone know where to get shipping supplies??

That Sucks! 👿

the batteries were good. i sent it back too AOA , hopefully it just needs reprograming. otherwise it will need a new motherboard.

Ken

Beware – you cant just put some LiPo batteries in a device designed for NiCd or NiMh batteries (espcially when the device has the charger built in). The way a “full charge” is determined is completely different and if the peaking method doesnt detect a full charge, it can continue to overcharge with bad results.

Thank’s for the info Guy!

I kinda forgot to check back on this thread too! 😆

well i got my new battery thursday put it back together and charged it overnight. got up this morning and tried to fire it with no luck. it is now on the brown truck back to AOA. hope their not waiting for mother boards to arrive from england. on a good note my other battery is probably good so now ill have a spare 🙄 . was hoping to try a FT match with it next month but i think that will no longer be possible. ill probably be lucky to shoot it this summer.

just thought id update you on my shitty luck.

That sucks 😥
I’d be a’ hoppin’ and a’ jumpin’ with the whole thing by now 👿 👿

Hello-Hello-Hello_Echo-echo-echo—Voltage? anybody??? 😕

Sorry dude, lost track of the post… 😕

Typically when a NiCd or NiMh battery falls below 1.1 volts per cell, they ‘die’, and when they get that low and you charge them, they reverse charge 🙁 Also, when you charge a NiCd or NiMh battery, they need a good 18 hour initial charge, then use it till the device tells you to charge it, or it quits operating. Otherwise if you use it a few minutes, then charge it, use it a few minutes and charge it for many cycles it will get a ‘memory’ so it only charges it the little bit it needs to, then when you do drain it down to the ‘normal low’ state and try to charge it, it will only charge the little bit from the ‘memory’…

LiPo/LiIon batteries RULE!! LiIon batteries are what we have in our cell phones, iPods and most re-chargeable devices nowadays. They are safe, but when used in the R/C world it is a different story. In the R/C world they are put through a serious ‘drain’ and if the battery doesn’t have the proper “C” rating, yes it can melt down on you. However, with it in a gun and the gun only drawing a few milliamps or even a few hundred milliamps, there is no worry!! The main issue with trying to match up LiPo batteries to power devices designed for NiCds is that NiCd batteries are typically 1.25 volts per cell, where as a LiPo battery is 3.6 volts per cell….so if it isn’t designed to handle alittle more voltage than what the device calls for, LiPo might not work…depends on the voltage regulator they have in the circuitry that powers the device 😀

Ken,

I know how you feel bro, wish you get your gun back sooner.

But AOA is full of shit. The battery problem is not new.

yup, and not the first time they lie to customers….they are assholes that do everything they can to keep a market for them selves…FX, daystate etc…..sure they let others buy at their retail price once in a while ….those resellers might get a 15% discount…..

its all bullshit with AOA….

lipo rules in the RC world…might spontations combust, but other than that they are good 🙂 lifepo is somewhat safer…..doesnt the daystates use some kind of standard battery pack….that you can find in the RC world as well ?

Nope! Not any more!!! 😀 😀 😀

After he got the .25 Air Ranger, he was hooked on the .25.

I know how he feels, I love the AW, Butt—Man, I love the way the .25 in the 21.5Bbl. hits. Walt did a great job on it. Just wish it was in the Wolf instead of the SS. 😆 😉

Thanks for the battery info. Gotta find a fill adapter and hose next. I have one for the AirHog set up, but not the SCBA. 🙁

I think mine was 8.4v when I got it and it stilled fired. So….
I can’t believe Bobby sold it to you. I thought that was his favorite 😕
