Q:

Daystate Batteries

Got my Airwolf for christmas and my battery is already junk. Charged it overnight upon reciept or at least i thought i did (gun beeped and red light flashed). Shot it a couple sessions charging after each.Went to the range week before last got all set up to shoot, chambered pellet and nothing. Went home pissed off and put it back on the charger for about ten hours took it off and still nothing. Reset the default settings shot the chambered pellet out (big sigh of relief) turned it off and put it away. Took it back to the range this week figured id discharge an empty shot before i chambered a round just to make sure and nothing. I know its been turned off before being put away, charged with the yellow attachment that came with the charger (that one fit the best). I dont know if i got a bum battery or what, AOA says there sending me a new one on warrenty as soon as the next daystate shipment arrives. i ask if they have any in stock they say no they dont stock them. I suggested they might want to start and the guy tells me we’ve never had a problem with the batterys in a voice that suggests that Daystate is beyond reproach.

Anyone had their gun separated from the stock? Is that allen head bolt torqued down so tight that i’ll have to reef on it to get it out?

Anyone with similar problem?

was at a battery wholesale store this weekend to have the voltage tested. voltage was nine volts but its capacity(or something like that) was to low for their equipment to read. appears manufacture date was 09/08. thought that was pretty old for a rifle purchased at christmas.

tried joe b for a spare still no reply.

thought about having one built but they needed to use plug from my battery and dont want to void my warranty in case AOA wants it back.

hopefully ill be shooting it before summers over, not holding my breath though.

Hello-Hello-Hello_Echo-echo-echo—Voltage? anybody??? 😕

Don’t get me started on AoA.

I have to ship my Wolf back to them as they are the only warranty place in the US to the best of my knowledge, and the attitude that they give me just stinks.

So how far down on voltage before it needs a charge???
Mike

Yup, sounds like operator error 🙂

Oh… well in that case…

Just make sure they’re the same voltage but you can get them with a higher mili amp HOUR so your battery pack last longer.

He has a 3 part youtube vid on the Air Wolf and shows how to take it apart.

If you do get it apart then take the battery pack with you and go to a RC hobby shop to see if they have the same size replacement OR have the guys at the hobby shop make you a pack. Just make sure they’re the same voltage but you can get them with a higher mili amp so your battery pack last longer.

I personally wouldn’t go lipo for your AirWolf just yet…. do some research first and/or ask the guys at the hobby shop. IIRC, lipo is not as forgiving as regular batteries when it comes to charging. Google it….

H’um, Mine never seems to charge above 9.5, but quickly drops to 9.1-9.3.

Where , or how far drained to they have to be to not be able to fire? I’ve never seen it posted anywhere.

Accuracy wise, this Wolf if un frigg’n real! 😉

That just sucks man. Nikol medal hydryde batteries usually last a good while before they take a shit. No like the old Ni-CaDs that would build up a memory really fast and then never take a full charge. I do know that it took a long time for mine to charge up initially. About 18 hours until it said “CHARGING COMPLETE 100%” I did notice something a little odd. The charger is a 12V DC power pack but the state of charge indicator in my gun says 9.1V ???

Actually the NiMh batteries are just as bad as the NiCd batteries they replaced. They have a large internal resistance and that causes them to drain in just a few days…

The charger has to put out more than it needs to otherwise when the batteries are hooked up, their internal resistance will pull the voltage down too low to even charge them.

I can’t believe any company would use NiMh batteries in today’s phenominal battery era. There are batteries like Li-Ion and Li-Po that hold their charge for months…extremely low internal resistance…no memory problems either…

I would find a local R/C hobby shop and see if they can supply you with a Li-Po or Li-Ion battery and charger to replace that POS with…you will have much better luck with it then 🙂

Here is a post of Joe’s with some info on replacements

With AOA being THE distributor and warranty contact for these I find it hard to beleive that word never got back to them.

I’d call back and call the liars out if it were my gun….. Here are three people who had issues and I only did one search and just picked three from first page….

Suggest you do a search here and on the yellow. IIRC there was a lot of info spread around a while ago and may have had something to do with the charger.

WOK is that the Joe Brancato selling scba bottles and fittings. I may contact him about a spare but i want my warranty battery also.

This is what happened to all electronic devices included electronic guns, you have no control of it, it could die anytime, specially if you store if for a while, something will go wrong.

I like the gun but I don’t like the whole electronic BS.
