Q:

E-TaCREG Numbers as Promised.

Hey guys,

I’ve got a sore thumb and a list of numbers to share with you. This is just the beginning. More will follow.

I did not do shot count numbers for all these pellets. I have too many to test to fill the 48ci tank and shoot for shot count. I hope you understand that I wanted to get the velocity numbers out first. I used my 22ci tank for all of these so I could conserve as much air as possible. I was getting about 10-12 shots per fill before it went off the reg. You can figger double the shot count for the 48ci. tank.

Here are 2300psi JDSAirman Reg and E-TaCREG numbers for 25cal in 24″ barrel (Thanks Rob!!!!) lubed with FP-10:
JSB 24.4: 921 (922-917)
Eunjin 34.3: 816 (819-812)
Eunjin 43: 770 (776-765)
Crowmag 26.2: 908 (910-905)
Benji 27.8: 896 (wow are these consistent !) (897-894) May shoot for accuracy and shot count.

For grins I shot some JSB Express .177 and got 1170fps from a 18″ barrel (Thanks DAVE!!)…I could only imagine the shotgun pattern.

None were shot for accuracy, only velocity.

I have learned that although this is regulated, there is quite a bit of tuning that can be done with the top hat and powerwheel to maximize the results. I fooled a bit and found a setting that was good and left it. Your mileage may vary.

I’ll be at it again tomorrow.

Regards, and thanks for your continued support.

Jim

Actually those blushes were for you because around here we are not embarassed to say “Just Fucking with you” 😀

Next thing you know Dirty Harry will be saying “Flippin” and Tron will throw out a “Dag Nabit” and Hoot will start with the “Gosh darn and Golly Gees” 😛

Shoot Shovel & ShutUp, thx for you GOOD info. :8

I think we have a winner a Talon with a reg. 😛

I used a staple gun to attach the quarter . Works great !
I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of fliers under it .
Jim , glad to see your safely back from vacation , usually takes me about two weeks to recover from a vacation .

Jim…didn’t you realize “muck” is British for cow shit? I’ve never seen WOK blush!

WOK, under “Cake Farts” would that be a “lay her” cake??? (snicker 😆 )

I’ll bet that’s where he’s hiding his “fliers”!!!

Nice try fella, but I’ve got my eye on you….literally speaking.

That is an impressive group for sure.

I’ve certainly got more numbers for you, but right now the E-TaCREG boom is on and I’m covered in swarf. Oh Happy Days!!

Jim

How did you get that quarter to stick on the paper when you were shooting?

What’s that black spot for?

Try adjusting your scope a couple clicks to the right, and I’m thinking you’ll hit that quarter next time!

I’ve managed to get a little more velocity out of the E-TaCREG . By increasing PW settings I get steady vel increases up to 9 , after that no vel increase . I also got rid of the shims by adjusting the bottle collar , this moved the valve & TH forward to their normal position & gave a nice snug fit with the TH & breech when the breech is closed & cocked to the side .
I shot two 30 shot strings with different pellets . Starting psi 3000 , ending 2300 . This may or may not be correct, when filling my 4500 psi tank the guage on the compresser at the VFD reads 100 psi less than my guage . If its correct were looking at 2900 start 2200 finish .

Looks like it started going of reg at about 20 shots , 4 shots per 100 psi . The 22 with the 2200 psi reg was getting about 6 shots per 100 psi .
The benjis I shot at a 2” spinner at 60 yds , but I shot the JSBs at a 50 yd target . I”m going to try & post the picture , Ididn”t notice any drop in poi after it went of reg .

Hi Jim….

Regarding the barrel, I have to say that particular barrel is quite picky. I shoot Kodiaks in it and they do fine…. as do Eun Jins. To be honest, I’ve not shot anything else out of it for groups so I dont know.

The .177 numbers sound promising. Thinking with a Talon valve, and around 1100psi, should get a ton of shots in the 12fpe range.

Although I’m running very low on air and have a leaking microbore that could at any time split and beat me like a red-headed stepchild, I loaded the 1400psi reg for some numbers for the “Shoot-All-Day-Crowd”. Filled to about 2200psi.

First I have to say the Hi-Flow valve is a beast and probably wasted a lot air. However, I wasn’t shooting for shot count as that would have used up my air even quicker. I instead shot for velocity.

First the .22s, 24″ barrel, 1400psi (it regulated exactly at 1400 as intended, as have the other regs). These are averages:

JSB 18: 854fps
JSB 16.1: 873fps
RWS Superpoint 14.4: 912fps

Next the 25s, 24″ barrel 1400psi
Benji: 764fps
Cromags: 770fps
EunJin 43: 648fps
EunJin 34: 682fps
JSB: 782fps

Now the .177 18″ barrel, 1400psi
JSB Heavies: 911fps
JSB Express: 998fps
Unknown wadcutters 8.4gr: 968fps

I have a question for you guys shooting the 25cal….How do you hit anything at the higher velocities? My range is setup so my target is in the trees, I shoot from my garage, and the pellet goes though a patch of sun. I’ve never seen such corkscrewing (JSBs !!!) and tumbling (Cromags) in my life at the higher speeds. They all settled into nice arcs at around 890 or so, but at the higher speeds, OH MY GAWD.

Just curious if it’s my (Rob’s) barrel or typical?

Jim

Hey Guys,

I’m pretty sure all the regs and E-TaCs will have to meet somewhere (JDS or at E-TaC Central) before shipping out. Just seems like the right thing to do.

Regarding my string of shots…I’ve got two problems. First, my microbore is leaking, badly. The second is that I won’t have 2500 numbers today.

The 2500psi regs are set at JDS. I attempted to get a 2500psi piston and put it in my body. This is not going to work. I don’t get the 2500psi regulated output I need. I will have to get a body and plunger set by John to ensure it is regulating properly, as all of you will when you order one from John. I put a gauge on the regulated side and it is reading 2800 and I get about 2 shots.

The E-TaCREG plays no part in the actual regulation. It is just a tube for the plunger to slide in, and a reservoir for air. I know that sounds like I’m covering my ass, but it is the truth.

Sorry guys. As SSS said, it’s one of those days.

Jim

Yike, its a long turnaround time for me if something isn’t right… 😥

Yes the burst disc is on the JSB reg . The one that failed was silver colored , the one on the other reg which I swapped was brass,
