Q:

EDgun .25 vs Pigeons

So in my quest to make the EDgun perfect I decided to try something new. I followed some tuning advice from a bro in Lebanon ( I can’t tell the tune, I promised to keep it a secret). I shoot pigeons a lot on dairy farms and often times it seems like the pellet blows through the bird and it wounds the bird. Head shots are not a real option because I am shooting between 75-120 yards. I am there to help the farmer get rid of pigeons so for the sake of consistency I go for body shots. The tune took my 930 FPS .25 Maddy down to 890 FPS. The crazy thing is I get 7 magazines on regulator with a 3-5 foot per second ES. I found the lower speed killed the pigeons with a wider margin of error. The pellet is very stable.

Has anyone else noticed that slowing the .25 down a little seems to allow the pellet to transfer more energy into the bird/critter?

Here’s a little sample from my day.

Well probably you didn’t but soon you will strongly believe you absolutely need it and for a “small fee” you will be able to get it 😀 (please don’t forget that the secret cannot be disclosed otherwise the magic chain will be broken).

I already apologize in advance if I hurt some feelings (and pockets) 😀

P.S. Ernest, another tuner in town now

Working hard over the past years to reach desired results are certainly not to be shared ( thats how i read in my LEBANESE book )
Brian is a friend and happy for him the EDgun dealership acquisition and i respect that he’s keeping the promise by not spreading what i shared with him recently… and will be more happy if he will get some extra pocket money from that…
That’s a part of the trade game after all…

It’s just funny how people choose a public forum not to speak about an announced secret (in my book :D)

Either it is fun or like you said it is pocket money but certainly there is nothing wrong by “attracting customers”, like you said it is part of the trade game.

Farmers are seeding and so did future edgun dealers … 😀

I shot only heavies and there is no problem at all. (about 20 tin =6000pellets) gun is factory setting and I only have raised hst to shoots heavies 270m/s.

If you are going to shoot the heavies through the matador contact me. I will save you a lot of pain and suffering.

Why not use the King Heavy( 33gr) .25 to achieve the same effect? Less V and more mass! BAM!

This would make the most sense to me

I agree with Hemn. You said A, you should say B now.

Since i joined this forum, everybody use to show/post the way of tuning his guns to get the best performance here ,,,all were benefit from each others,,, but don’t know why this tuning should be kept in secret !!!

This is nothing for EDgun capabilities, the Gun with No Limits…
On my behalf and the behalf of EDGUN LEBANON we wish you the best in your quest Brian.
You have all the needed technical skills, you know the EDgun very well , Lucky for the US to have you as dealer.

It’s good to know. what pressure you set the regulator when shooting .25 jsb king at 885 fps? e.g 110 bar?

I don’t change the pressure, living it the same 130 bar.

That is normal, as the higher is the innitial speed, the soon the pellet lose it 🙂 That is why I prefer to shoot with my .30 at 260 m/sec, as well as with my .25 with 270 m/sec. At the distance above 80 meters the pellet doesn’t penetrate the bird trough and gives it all the energy, in comparison with when the speed is higher and the pellets goes away with part of energy aboard.
