Ah finally a scientific study

And sorry to remind you that the debate wasn’t on the differences between firearms and pcps but I understand, all this nonsense could have a negative impact on your business, you need to find a way out.

How many doctors have been proven not to be a doctor and even not having a university degree

Sorry Keyser, no hard feelings with you, I like your posts, entertainment guaranteed 😀 .

It’s so funny to see all the different things people invent to improve their business.

A more appropriate word than “expert” in this case is “artist”.

You and Ed you are great artists

Hahaha!!!

First you post a link and now you say there is no relation

Yes Sir, a .223 Rem or 5.56×45 round reaches its best performance with a 20 inches barrel because length matters !!!

And sorry to tell you that barrel length and noise level matters aren’t exclusive to Edgun….

Or actually they are because only with edguns the barrel length doesn’t make any difference

And who cares what seems odd to you….

What seems odd to me is that you sell yourself as a Rifleman and you don’t have any clue about rifles

I didn’t know NATO was studying PCP rifles . Maybe I can be a vendor. I mean there’s no way you are comparing a 556 SBR to an EDgun . Since the 62 grain 556 needs 18-20 inches for a complete powder burn.

72% of pippo’s posts on TAG dedicated to a gun and brand he doesn’t own. Seems odd to me.

A study on NATO weapons came to the conclusion that:

“To attempt to preserve sound reduction performance, a suppressor will need to be longer (and heavier) with a shorter barrel, negating most of the compactness gained by barrel shortening.”

But what do those experts know about weapons and barrels.

Looks great! .25 short is really awesome combo!

quote keyser soze:

The HST setting is infinite there is one one way to test an PCP airgun . How many joules of energy is produced per CC. Once again all 3 EDgun sizes are the same.

Sorry to tell you that in this case, according to your statement, the article you have linked is talking nonsense…..

And once again I haven’t learnt anything new, I already knew that talking like an expert doesn’t make an expert.

(And me certainly I’m not an expert in this domain but only a hobbyist…)

The HST setting is infinite there is one one way to test an PCP airgun . How many joules of energy is produced per CC. Once again all 3 EDgun sizes are the same.

Perfectly agree but everything depends on the power range you are shooting, caliber and bullet weight (leaving out all the other elements like atmosphere, height, etc…)

And just to make everything clear I haven’t anything against the shorty, actually I’ve always been in favor of short bullpubs and I’ve never liked or understood the musket lenght bullpups.

One of the downwsides to consider is that the shorts are a bit louder but you can overcome this by reducing power setting.

in my tests, one inch more barrel length raise the speed about 10fps.

quote keyser soze:

It’s says less that 8% difference in 13.5 inch difference between standard and short

Sorry just to provide accurate information.

The article says extreme variation of velocity between long and short barrel was 31%.

The variation of the most accurate load was 15%.

There was one round with the least variation of 8%. (and 8% is still 8%)

In their tests the variation of speed was 25.2 fps/in, so do your math.

A shorter barrel needs more propellent to attain the same velocity of a longer barrel and this is a matter of fact (and I believe every shooter knows this ABC of ballistics).

And more propellent has a direct impact on noise level 😀

You know what? This time I have learnt something new. Apparently there is a reason why they make longer and shorter barrels.

Dear Airbrained,

I understand the enthusiasm of a newcomer and forgive me if I say that sometimes the enthusiam can be mistaken with advertisement 😀

(My apologies for this wrong interpretation but it is due to the fact that you kicked in just when I said we have only dealer reviews and not customer reviews but I was speaking about long term TAG members and customers)

What I still have to understand is the new way of cycling of the R3.5M, so it is better than the R3M but it is still not butter smooth but it will smooth out over time.

So basically the current R3M owners with stiff actions should hold back from asking to replace their internals with the new ones of the R3.5M because basically the R3.5M is better but not really much better than the R3M, so the best solution for them (and for Edgun) is to leave things like they are 😀 (this is the message I get by reading the posts)

As for venting, Dear Uncle :hoot: should have patented his findings.

Just a side note, I also really like how Ed vents his shrouds as standard. I know he explains that it’s better for pellet stability when leaving the barrel because it creates a vacuum effect instead of the extra air flowing out behind the pellet, also factory vent holes seem more pleasing to the eye than some of the aftermarket mods I’ve seen especially since the anodizing is done after the vent holes are drilled thus being less noticeable.

That’s why I chose the shorty because I traverse some rough terrain for hunting purposes and found the shorter barrel and shroud was ideal. So today the gun was shooting beyond my expectations but unfortunately my camera was pissing me off so I ditched it and for that I apologize. I still can’t believe how well the regulator is working, the ES is less than 10. I turned down the HST a hair and it shooting in the low to mid 920,s with hole through hole accuracy without much effort. I’m hoping it has long term function and stability. So far I’m sold on this Matador. I also added a little silicone oil on the bolt and indexing mechanism and noticed a substantial difference. Although the JSB Heavy MKll.s didn’t cycle as well but still manageable.

Keyser – I certainly have learned lots from your posts. Thank you for your efforts and please keep them coming.
