So to those who my be deciding on a different size EDgun the biggest factor is shot count and stability off a bench. Depends on your intended use .

Yeah that’s why I confirm noise level with a class 1 db meter borrowed from my real job. What else you have Pippo?
So let’s review
1. I have every size .25 Edgun matador
2. I have tested speed and efficiency
3. I have tested sound level at 3 feet from the muzzle
4. I have had friends confirm their impression of the differ gun lengths sound profile.
I would love to read about your testing pippo. So far after all these years I have only witnessed your typing skills.
Please don’t forget that linear progression of propellent doesn’t produce linear progression of noise level, it’s exponential…

It’s says less that 8% difference in 13.5 inch difference between standard and short we are talking 2 inches Also as a bullet is fired with powder the effect of burn time in the barrel creates a different effect but as you say -not an expert.
So talking effecency the EDgun short , long and standard all use nominally the same amount air to produce power. In other words given slight differences between guns(one regulator may be working better slightly) they all produce similar joules/CC
Nope, I’m speaking about the fact that given the same amount of propellent the longer barrel will provide more power/speed to the pellet.
(Staying obviously within “practical” limits, don’t know what will happen with a 100 yards long barrel) 😀
Sorry to tell you that the linked article says exactly what I say….. (and I’m not a ballistic expert)
Can you prove your last statement or not? Your hypothesis is that barrel length dictates speed?

Yeah I recall perfectly those ballistic classes and then not knowing the difference between a long and short barrel 😀
In “your experience” you can boost the same power level/fps in a short and long barrel having the same amount of propellent? :rofl:
Probably the “misunderstanding” is coming from the fact that the Matador Short actually is not short and therefore probably the difference in noise with his siblings is less noticable.
Since these are the first shorty .25s offered I know you have zero actual experience with them. I have longs standard and short. There is no difference in the sound profile between them. This has been confirmed with both the ear and decibel meter.
I guess in “your experience” air molecules just can’t escape that last 2 inches of barrel found in the standard.
Shorties are always louder than their longer siblings, no surprise there.
But setting power a bit lower already helps a lot, a hunter at more less fixed ranges doesn’t need the flattest trajectory.
Just please don’t add a moderator that makes it longer than the standard length, at that point normally the standard is still quieter, better balanced and has a better shot count.

Shooter3 I posted the wrong picture. Those targets are of me sighting in the scope I thought I took pictures of the groups but I didn’t. I didn’t do any 100yd shooting yesterday I just zeroed my scope at 50yds and ran a few strings over the chronograph because I was so dam anxious to hunt. I’ll head back out today and do some more testing. And to the other gentleman, yes the gun is louder than I expected but it’s nothing to crazy, I’m currently trying to source an offset moderator now.

Yes totally agree, the gun looks great.
Only the bolt makes it look a little “vintage” but that is just IMHO.
