I don’t know who really had that design first but that picture shows exactly the same design that has been used by BSA since 2005 and it might have been introduced in some other gun model before that.

Sorry for BSA I used it earlier, in 2003 or 2004 at least. Where is my license fee from BSA? 🙂

The p12 doesn’t have the name “matador” written on the side. They also don’t use the same hammer and the barrel isn’t the same floating system with the barrel nut.

Actually the P12 uses the original EdGun hammer and barrel clamping system (R1 and R2). That same hammer system is used in a few other early model airguns as well… The barrel floating system is the R3 development.

Here is a video of the early EdGun hammer, which happen to be the same hammer that is in the P12. Note the absence of the barrel/shroud compression system that was added at the R3 model.

Here is a photo of the P12 hammer in it’s housing. Notice the cylindrical stud on the part behind the action that is facing the camera, that can be seen in the cutaway video sticking up into the action.

Sorry. The P12 IS an R2 clone without a proper Matador stock and label. It’s not as exacting as this new one above (although there are parts of this new one that are not exact either, like the absence of the compression system for the upper barrel cover and barrel and the cover retaining plates).

That’s hammer/bolt operation principle is John Bowket’s design introduced in BSA Scorpion in 2005. They didn’t steal it from Edgun and Ed is probably paying license fees?

FYI. This forum is full of people from all over the world, even China. So don’t disrespect them by saying one country is better than other. Thank you very much.

Well considering the masses leaving their countries to come to the USA…. I think they are not leaving because it is better where they are.

 epic!

If I could I would definitly move to USA! I always said USA is better than Brazil (obvious). BUT that’s my opinion.

Hi all!
sorry for english is not my native language.
I found the “link” on the internet, and I sent them a forum to evaluate.
I do not like the copy rights, but it is always there in china.
I love edgun made by Edward it is very accurate.

sorry if I’ve done anything is not good.

Another non english native, with almost my name also haha 🙂

I think you should change the P12 Review thread name, get out that “CLONE” word 🙂

Made in china and cloned in china are not the same thing. The people making clones are not usualy conserned with quality and don’t put there name on the product.

quote Pippo:

Dear Friends,

I’m not a “Made in China” fan but we have to remember that today almost everything is manufactured in China and as I said, even though I’m not a fan of this, the quality of manufacturing in China has raised tremendously and this is why today you see more and more “Designed in USA”, “Designed in Europe” and not anymore “Made in…”.

Enginnering skills are also raising tremendously so in the future overall production quality and capacities will only become better.

The goal of the chinese is to make become the “Made in China” a synonym of “Made in Germany” and they are right on track for this.

Many of the products you like so much or you are so proud of are already made in china.

Last winter I bought a “Great Pair of American Boots” (original and not a clone) actually made in china (but I didn’t know beforehand) but to my surprise the overall quality is the same of the “in USA made” ones.

Very few have realised that the current financial and economic crisis is WWIII and this time we (the western world) have already lost the war.

The P12 is not an Edgun clone, The designer Who I have spoken to on many occasions followed design aspects of many different Pcps to design the P12, yes he is an Edgun fan (but who isnt) and there are some similarities to the earlier Matador but could name 10 Pcps that have been around much longer than the Edgun with that same hammer cocking design etc.. for example..take a look at a Marauder when you get a moment.. The truth of the matter is that designer has never even held a PCP in his hands, never less a Matador as the law forbids PCPs in his country.

I agree With Ed on that one.. there’s no need to re-invent the wheel… using aspects and component design ideas to make your own pcp is very expectable and like ED says the designs are already old by the time they use them.. the inventors such as Ed will always lead the way in innovative designs and others will just follow in his footsteps.. like he says he takes it as a complement as it confirms just how world wide and popular the Edgun now is.

The P12 will always be a cheap entry level gun that will help a market of guys get behind a bullpup PCP that could never afford to own the high end quality made Edgun.
It has a different target market to Eds customer market.

The difference with this new matador clone regardless of if the Chinese clone is Identical in dimensions etc is that it blatantly has the Edgun Matador logo, serial number and “Designed in Russia Made in Estonia” on it which it obviously is not.
The trained Eye can see differences but I have no doubt they will attempt to sell these to people as the real thing. I know of another Asian companys selling exact copies of the Cricket, Airforce, and all the Edgun models but of very questionable quality standards. The Clones have always been there but Im glad for all people involved that they are not well advertised and distributed.

Unacceptable, this gun has no place on the talon forum that supports the business of hard working individuals such as Ed who bring us the “quality toys” that will be around for generations to come.

Ed,

Can you explain to us briefly what is covered by the Edgun patent(s)?
I am considering buying a P12 but will not do so if the P12 is infringing on an Edgun or others patents.

Anyone see a copyright, trademark or patent identification mark on an EdGun.

In my line of work I have seen a lot of people pass on to the next world. It’s never glorious, honorable or special it just is. Life is too short to own inferior product. I will buy the best I can afford even if that means I need to save for a year to do it. The pride of ownership is worth the cost of admission. China can take their knock-offs and put them where the sun will never shine.

I stand corrected. Sorry, I have never seen any of the older ones apart. I was not aware of it being so close to the old designs.

Has the same internals and externals but lacks a silkscreened logo and so you’re not considering it a clone?

I’m sure the counterfeiters would love to have you on a jury so they can continue to rip off other people’s designs… :butkick:

If y’all are going to split hairs let’s go. I’m ready.
