Come on, let’s stop talking and start shooting.

The field tests will show some flaws as with every new gun but the departure seems promising.

Gun looks like quality and well built and Ed has some experience in the domain (even though in his presentation video he has mistaken 3 times the allen key to take the stock apart and looked like an alien).

I expect a perfectly working gun because Ed did not yet fail a single shot matador, major downside probably is the price tag but nothing like the good old days when you had to pay the extra prime for a “benchmade gun” so probably not too much to complain.

Pure gold awesomeness… time to get into high power finally! Hell yeah!

Yeah, up to 17J.

Ed,

Thanks for your reply!
Still got some left:
As I understand there will be an single shot bold action and an side lever multishot version?
Is it possible to adjust the hst without removing the stock?
Max filling up to 300 bar?

Thanks!

Regards, Robert.

Thank you, Ed. That picture clarifies a lot. There should be no problem.

Is it possible to shoot below reg pressure without damage?

No problem. Just tested R5 in .25, long one, got 60 shots from 240 bar with 2.2 grams JSB pellet at 265 m/sec.

Wow Eduard!
That looks great!
Lots of improvements, a totaly different gun.

That is place for O-ring in transfer port of R5.

That is place for O-ring in transfer port of R3M.

Can you see the difference?

No, but why Ed replaced a rubber transferport oring with a brass one in R3?

Shooter, I don’t think it will be a problem. I haven’t put my hands on one yet but this gun has been around for a while. It only seems new because Ed waited to announce until it was ready. Unlike items in the past, this is not a “marketing announcement” to see what people would like to buy. The R5 has been tested. The valve housing has a sear in it that aligns the TP, so sure if you don’t put the gun together as it was designed the O-ring won’t stay put, but that is really not a design flaw. Do Orings fly out from behind gauges?

What worries me a little is that rubber, oval transferport o-ring which is made of brass in R3 in order to prevent it from being blown out. Won’t it be problematic in R5?

I have always loved the rear bolt, to me feels like a real gun. The thing I begged Ed for was a quiet gun, I have seen the gun broken down, and I can tell you that the gun seems to be designed around the moderator. Not only is the can huge but so is the reservoir where the air is stripped rearward. Baffles by themselves don’t make a quiet gun, but a baffle with air stripping does make a difference. The R5, Simple, robust, 3mm valve and a, larger plenum. New HST that indexes and a single bolt to remove the air tube. Single bolt to remove the action, giant moderator, bleed valve, very few O-rings, removable air tube, one piece CNC upper, simple access to the barrel for cleaning, and a newly improved trigger. I like the gun a lot

Eds’ new .30 looks nice , but for me it just will not work out for (1) I think it is over priced , (2) Ed stayed with his basic
design with a rear bolt which I really hate . I think he kept this design because it was easier and cheaper for him to make .
If he would have made the bolt or a lever action forward than it would have gotten my interest . :2cents:
