Edgun Review update
Hey fellers, just a little more info specific to the currently available magazines (.25 in my case). I received them in aluminum not plastic, today, and 3 will fit under the rail but not 4. See the attached photo as demonstrated with my gun (Dec. production). I’m pleased to report that receipt took less than 4 days post order from Tony R. Remaining Availability???
Now with 750 pellets down the pipe, I will note that the regulator has settled in nicely. Seems to be consistent through several full strings and typically an ES of 25 or under for 60 to 80 shots contingent of the velocity selected (long version). This is discounting an occasional velocity spike which can be attributed to pellet or continued break in. Couldn’t be more pleased with efficiency and shot count as this was the primary reason I purchased the long, despite the extra expenditure. That, and I just like having a long tube. 😉

Don’t we have a rule against spammers on this site? Some people live to create and stir a controversy. No words to the contrary of their claims will stop them. They don’t need to prove anything they say, and they say things to get people to give them attention I don’t think they deserve. Imagine that poor soul sitting at his pc grinning at responses to his latest accusations. I say simply stop responding to him. Let him move on or ban him outright. It’s shameful behavior. I think most spammers are probably young children anyway.so there’s no reasoning with them. I’ve added this sort of person to my Foes list so I can’t see his posts, but quoting his replies makes them show up in other posts show up anyway! :2cents:

Dear, Pippo!
Thank you very much for such a volumed text, I lack English language practice and being forced ready such a long text I keep it alive 🙂 I am serious. Well, I told you before, that it is impissible to make a perfect thing without any improvements in the future. Even in the space industry where money is flown as river not everything is OK (remembering your last landing on the sea ship and the fact that NASA still buys Russian rocket engines, as cannot make them). So, I prefer to make, then improve. And I have nothing else to offer. If anybody has any doubt about quality or possible issues, that is a free world and we are free people to make a choise, just buy another gun, easy isn’t it? I always honest to people, never said that I made perfect guns. Yes, I will keep going on improving guns, and in a year it will be better then now, that is called progress 🙂
So, as I can see the discussion is over, I prefer facts from the owner, not “my friend told me…” when your friend, who owed two EDguns will come here I will listen to him with pleassure.
With the best regards
Ed
Hi Dearest Uncle Hoot, ED,
it’s me the problem! 😀
Sorry for the late reply but no internet connections allowed at office.
I really don’t get this thing, “do you own”, “do you not own”, what difference does it make because I told you that I’m speaking from personal experience, practical hands-on personal experience.
Is a mechanic repairing a certain make and model of car obliged to own the very same car he is working on in order to be allowed to express his opinions?
Is a taxi-driver, driving every day the same car obliged to own personally the same car as the company car before being entitled to comment the vehicle?
I don’t think so.
I don’t own a R3M but I have shot one regularly for more than one year and I know in’s and out’s.
I go regularly with a colleague of mine to the shooting range twice the week and there we shoot and swap our guns.
I have shot regularly both his R3M Gen-1 and also his R3M Gen-2 (or whatever Gen it was), actually the Gen-2 was the Gen-1 base with what he called the R3M Gen-2 replacement breech.
Well Gen-1 has been a pain in the “arsh” since day one, worst pcp ever. (I don’t give you all the details of the issues/features because they are very well known)
He put big hopes in the Gen-2 breech but unfortunately only little (if any) improvements, ok the grinding was a tiny little bit less but still a pain in the … (you know)…
We reached the conclusion that Gen-1 and Gen-2 was actually the “same sh*t but with a different name”.
Now he doesn’t own the R3Ms anymore, the stressing paperweight had to go and now he is the happy owner of a Cricket BP.
(Actually he bought the R3M and the Cricket at more less the same time, the Cricket is a keeper, the R3M had to go).
Now I don’t know exactly the full details of what he was calling the “Gen-2 replacement breech”, if he got it for free or if he had to pay for it and neither do I know the serial numbers of both breeches but in March when he will be back and depending on the circumstances he may decide to go public and tell you all the details but this is his personal choice and I can’t comment on this.
Probably he still has copy of the supporting documents with all the details (Gen-1, Gen-x, etc) because as you know “Verba volant, scripta manent” so no doubts or “speculations”…
But ED since there hasn’t been neither issues nor technical improvements over time, what do you need the serial number for? Nothing to be checked.
Even though he is very happy with his Cricket, he has to admit that concerning the loading and cycling mechanism the HW100 is the clear winner hands down.
Now if ED says there were some issues on the R3M but now they have been definitely solved with Gen-X and for good this time then this is one thing but if he continues wanting to deny any evidence and wanting to ridicule the customer by saying that there wasn’t any problem even on Gen-1 (like the video he attached on his post earlier) then this is another thing and this for me (Hoot) means not respecting and not being loyal to the customers.
But I understand the tactic of ED, he slowly improves his guns and denies every malfunctioning so at the end everybody that will receive the latest release will confirm that the gun is working well so they will believe that ED is right 😀 but I don’t call this exactly an honest way to run a business.
That’s all folks and please show me where are the news and where is the attack.

I love my two Edguns with several thousand shots through each. 😀
Remembering MachineGun.
I’ve been using a 25 cal R3M long for almost a year now. I’ll weigh in with the following observations:
– consistent good power over a wide range of conditions (temperature 90 F to -15 F),
– operationally tolerant of real world conditions (added a rubber plug in fill port to keep the dirt out),
– easy to maintain.
Other shooters that I’m with love to shoot the R3M, because it hits targets at long range, which tells the story.

This thread seems populated with people who might fit an engineer’s creed:” in God we trust; all others bring data!” That works for me!

I have to agree with keyser soze. I own several Edguns and they have always performed flawlessly. If anyone doesn’t believe me I can show you a mountain of dead vermin that will help convince you. All of my dealings with Tony R have been quick, responsive and positive. I come to this web site to get and share information and not to listen to personal attacks. If you have a problem with a gun, then get it fixed and share what you learned so we all can benefit.
I feel the need to post this message because I think there have been some unfair attacks on Ed and his guns. I have had zero problems with my guns. I would not have put a deposit down on a Lelya if Ed’s products weren’t worth the price. I really don’t want to hear about problems with your gun unless Ed or his importer refuses to fix your gun. I have not read a post accusing Tony of said offense. If you don’t like Edguns then don’t buy one. If you think another brand fits your needs better then buy it, but there is no reason to attack a hardworking man because you don’t like his guns in theory . It seems weird to me that some would bash Ed for making improvements on his magazine system. Whatever!

Jetboy…
The pellet skirts (back end) are larger than the pellet head. Ed designed the magazines to be “cone shaped” so they grasp the skirt end of the pellet and don’t deform the head.
Pellets need to fit tightly, or they don’t seal in the rifling properly. The Edgun’s magazine tolerances are tight. That’s not a flaw, that’s by design. Ed covered this in one of his videos. It’s important to keep up with these developments. The Edgun never stops changing…it’s a work in progress.
No, I don’t work for Ed, I’m not his illegitimate child, he has never given me a price break, nor sent me anything free. I’ve owned three of his guns. I’ll eventually own a Leyla…one day.
For all the grief we give each other on this forum, we do share important information and that fuels progress. Every Edgun ower is part of the Edgun Research and Development program. If you have a genuine problem, Ed generally listens and a fix, or modification, eventually appears.
He’s said it a thousand times, and I’ll repeat it…if you don’t like that program then don’t buy his gun! :horse: :horse: :horse: :horse:
No more on this from me. I’m putting Pippo on my “Foe” list. That way his rants just don’t show up on my screen. (User Control Panel, Friends and Foes, Manage Foes, add the name in the box) He can talk to himself from now on.
I’ve got too many people to insult on other threads to keep repeating myself here.
Hoot:
Yes, correct.
They are designed to deform the skirt of the pellet, I explained it already. If you rework the chamber I have nothing to say about the accuracy in case you have some issues.
So…you will replace the alum. for the plastic at no charge and any additional are for sale; correct?
if so, I paid you for 5 and you own me 2 for the alum swapp.
While we are on a bashing section here, the alum mag also deform the pellets during feeding. I had to rework all the holes surfaces.
Brgds
Jack
Have I ever said something about replacement breeches?! It was Pippo, so I think it’s better ask him what he took that information from? The only thing I said I can replace two alluminium magazines for those who has bought EDgun Matador R3M, first version with the plastic magazines, which make the cocking smoothing, that’s it.
Hoot:
It is funny but I had the same situatin at Russian forums and I found quite an interesting thing, people like Pippo are quite active in bashing somebody if they sure he read what they write. If they are sure the manufacture doesn’t care about what is said about his guns at forum, they loose interest to atack him 🙂
Poor ED always been attacked for his “magic features” 🙁
Sniperqty only a few days back was shouting loud and clear about the “special features”.
Now he became very quite, did he follow the training or what?
Would be interesting to know. 😀

🙂 I consider it as normal, being attacked 🙂 Those who are out of range has always risk to be attacked. I am used to it. I completely devide the atack and critic, the first one is based on emotions and counterproductive, the second one is based on the facts and very useful.
Sniperqty writes me to e-mail, asking to be a representative, for month, do you think he is a BSDM to ask a manufacturer whos guns are terrible to be his representative? 🙂 That is money question, no more. I will meet him while I’ll be in Kuwait for sure. As for “traingin or what”, they just get tired of barking as I didn’t bahaive the way they would like me to, I just chuclked with them and didn’t get angry or agressive 🙂 I told you, I am used to it.
As for first, second and other versions, that is absolutely normal for ANY manufacturers, it is impossible to make a perfect thing. Quite often I am asked if now is the best gun I ever made or should a customer wait some more to get better version. I always say that one can wait for better version all life and didn’t get one, the other takes what is available now and just enjoying life. I prefer the second way, hope the majority of my customers the same.
And I asked you alreay, Hoot did, if you have my gun and used it youself or you just speculate on the information you got on forums? If yes, could you tell the number of it?
With the best regards
Ed

Pippo…
Again, I ask, have you ever owned an Edgun?
It’s easy to fan the flames, to continually repeat your indignation at situations that don’t directly involve you…but what have you done to help resolve, or suggest solutions, for the problems in mention?
Have you noted that Ed has stated any Edgun that has problems unrelated to user error, can be sent to Tony for examination and a fix?
Where’s the incentive for Ed to continue his efforts to help forum members correct any known hardware problems, and try to satisfy his customers needs, if he gets bashed by people like you every time he tries to communicate with us? News Flash: Pippo is not part of the solution, Pippo is part of the problem!
If we continue to shove Ed’s efforts down his throat, to ridicule him, what do we win…more importantly, what will we eventually lose? Remember, he and Tony are the only people we have to go to for Edgun related issues. At least respect the current owners, and their needs for advice and support for their Edgun investment. If you, personally, can’t deal with that fact, then don’t buy the damn gun, and keep your counter-productive, and ridiculing comments to yourself!
The existing Edgun owners on this forum don’t need you as their spokesman…for the past seven years they have been quite effective in speaking for themselves!
Hoot:
Same situation on russian forums?

Pip is not a spammer, he is a member here and has the right to his own opinion and is more than welcome to bring his issues up with us or the dealers/makers.
Ed is a big boy and can deal with his own customers and personal attacks just fine..
My only question for you pip is did your friend ever voice his problems with his R3Ms with Ed or Tony?
All airguns have there problems and design issues, if it is a problem that can be sorted with new parts then that is when you would contact your Rep/importer.. if it is a design problem that you dont like you have the option of returning the gun or not buying it to begin with.
Ed works well with his customers a dealers to take on customer problems and feedback to better his future builds and always listens when something can be improved.
The only negative I can see about owning an Edgun is the long wait for parts when required in my neck of the woods. You are lucky to have Tony in the usa who carries most things needed..
I curently have four customers with the early version of the R3M breechs that have not given any issues
related to roughness or missfeeding as they were correctly run in and I have service all of them with molly grease.. the new breech is 100% better with the re positioned mag detent ball, redesigned cam and more rounded cocking pin but I do like the look of that rolling bearing to cock the hammer on yours jetboy.. I see you have built up your cam with brass also, is yours the early model with the outer mag detent ball position?
