Edgun Stock Problems?
Just interested to know if, and how many, forum members have not gotten the OEM stock on their Edguns, and whether any have had quality problems with the finish? The hardware has been perfect so far, but the stocks seem to keep popping up as “different” from what was expected.
I know Mamcrackin got a strange, wood stock on his Lelya that he felt compelled to refinish.
Mine has a hairline crack in the buttstock. No, its not a scratch, it’s a crack in the finish. Here’s a picture of it fresh out of the box:
I’ve noted others saying they got something other than OEM finish.
I’m not trying to cause problems, or stir things up. However, $1550 is a LOT of money to get less than a fully inspected, perfect, factory rifle. We deserve that.

You’ll be surprised but the myth about Russians who are totally drink only vodka even in the mornings instead of tea or coffee 🙂 is a piece of shit propaganda 🙂 like that all Americans are ugly, fat guys, eating only in McDonald’s 🙂 and having not knowing anything but Coca-Cola. I do not drink at all, as well as Tony and all people around me do not drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, we just do not want to give our money to those who sleep and sees in dreams to remove Russians from the planet by any means, Hitler was the last one who wanted to make it by the weapon, from that time our enemies became more clever — they give us drugs and other bad things but to their horror more and more people here understands what is going on and we consciously refuse of it 🙂
As for the gun stock, have to confess that was quite unsuccessful experiment from Tony’s side and we would do our best to solve that issue in the best way for all the parties 🙂

I am left handed shooter (being right handed in the real life 🙂 ) and have to confess that Edgun is much easier and more comfortable to shoot for left handed shooters rather then for the right hand ones 🙂 I have no idea how it happens, but it is a fact 🙂 Those of the shooters who understood what I was talking about ESPECIALLY ordered from me left handed guns to shoot from the right hand 🙂 after they saw me shooting. But now I cannot do left handed guns, unfortunately.

I got my Edgun last week from Tony and it also came with the plain wood stock. I have to admit is was a bit of a let down. I sent him an e-mail two days ago and I’m still waiting for a reply…no hurry as I’m sure he’s busy I’m just hoping we can come to an agreement on replacing this stock with the normal gray style that I expected.
I scoped it up using the Burris Z-rings (med) and a Bushy 4200 8×32 as I plan on doing some long range pigeon popping. I used the -/+10 spacers on the front saddles and the “0” spacers on the rear and within 5 shots I was in the black. I then shot a 3 shot group at 30 yds while leaning against a wooden pole and all three 18 grain JSB’s left holes in the paper that were touching!! The quality of this gun is amazing. I am extremely impressed overall with the way the gun handles and shoulders etc….
One thing I’ve learned is when you have an accurate gun it’s relatively easy to shoot good groups. I know this sounds kind of funny but what I mean is, you don’t have spend seconds holding your breath and really focusing on making sure you’re exactly right on target and your trigger squeeze is perfect etc… The pellets just go where they should with very little effort. Some guns I’ve had you really have to focus and work on making sure the rest is perfect, you haven’t had any coffee, the shooting bench is secure and shooting a good group takes a lot of effort and concentration. Not with the Edgun (or my AZ Rapid). It just does what you want it to. I’m sure most of you will understand what I’m getting at. That for me is a key indicator when you have a winner and the Edgun is all I expected in the accuracy department.
I know I don’t post here much but I do want to thank all of you for taking the time to post your groups and share your set ups on the Edgun. I really appreciate it and I hope to contribute more in the future as this is a great forum full of good folks.
The funny thing is, when I was done sighting in the Edgun which didn’t take long, I took it to a friends house as he wants one as well. I saw a pigeon on a tree and asked him how far away it was. He said he lasered the tree at 47 yds. I took the shot and the flying rat dropped instantly. The Edgun dropped that bird with authority!!! Unfortunately for me my friend took the next shot and the next shot and next thing I know my gun is still at his house one week later!!!! It’s cool as I have to work 8 of the 9 days so I didn’t have time to play anyway and he really is having fun with it. He texted me just a while ago and said “This thing doesn’t miss”.
Does the Edgun come with the bolt configured on the left side for a Lefty as my friend is a lefty and he asked me to ask you guys if you know?? Resting his cheek on the bolt isn’t a preference and I understand as I don’t have the problem being right handed. Just curious if Ed can switch the bolt over.

Damn skippy. You shouldn’t have to break out the holesaw or belt sander period. Come on Tony and Ed, we love the EDgun but for $1550 every customer deserves to get a flawless gun. Tell Ted to shit-can that piece of turd stock and send him the real deal.
I wouldn’t be happy after forking out that kind of cash. I wouldn’t give a monkeys nuts as to how or why or blah blah.
I would want a perfect one.
Even Gamo can make a wood stock that does not crack or separate with the climate changes. The Edgun looks to be a very nice air gun and some day I would like to own one but, there is no excuse for the wood to separate/crack. It might be time to seek a new vendor for the stocks…

I´m on holiday in NY. As soon as I go back to Monterrey I’ll post pictures of my wood stock. Mine doesn´t have the smooth continuous curves the grey has. It has two minor cracks, it´s not simmetrical along it´s lenght (the wall thickness on the right side is thinner than on the left side), and the overall finish is poor.
There really is no way to touch up the area without it looking like crap. I would leave it alone.
The only way to remedy it is to sand off the finish and then raise the grain several times and sand it down. Then apply a more flexible finish that would not crack when the stock expands and contract.
I agree these paint seperation seems harmless enough and a matter of fact gives it a touch of personality. Anyway, thanks to you (Ed) and Tony that we are able to experience these bullpups on this side of the continent.

For those who expect new long Matadors in .22 and .25:
I left them in Saint Petersburg to be shipped to States. Just talked with the guy who is responsible for the shipment and he promised me that all 13 guns will be send within few days. There are 6 in .22 caliber, 6 in .25 caliber and 1 in .177 (short one).
As for .22 everything more or less is understandable (use only 18 grain JSB pellets). The only thing could be – there are new barrels I ordered from Lothar Walther, they are nice and being testing them for about two weeks I found them very interesting, so new barrels could have new “accuracy speed”. It means that if for old barrels I knew that the accurate speed was about 920 feet/s for the standard one which makes about 30 Ft-lbf and 970 feet/sec for long one which makes about 33 Ft-lbf so for the new ones the accurate speed can be in different levels. I have no idea where. I adjusted them all for standard 970 feet/sec with 16 grain pellets. Tested some of them to speed up about 1 020 fee/sec without any problems. So you have the privilege to test them and find the best adjusting, which makes you the part of the process not only customers 🙂 and I, definitely, will use your experience in the future. I consider it as normal – you got the products which is not worse then previous we did but I myself still do not know its potential and you will reveal it with me – for my point of view that sounds interesting 🙂
As for .25 – I tested them with 25 grain JSB King, speeding them up to 1 070 fee/sec which makes about 65 Ft-lbf. I still say that there are not good heavy pellets (like 35 grains) for this caliber but having shot with JSB Kings I was impressed, for 30 meters they showed me almost the same accuracy as JSB 18 grain for .22 caliber. So even they are not heavy they are quite accurate, at least at this distance and having knowing JSB pellets very well I expect them be perfect for this gun but, again, we need tests since .25 caliber have new barrels as well. I tried few guns to shoot with ENJIN and they have the same accuracy as JSB expect some of them which were bad made (less weight). But I know that ballistic coefficient of them is terrible and you should not expect much from them. As for JSB 25 grain I have no idea about it’s BC but expect it much better then ENJIN, so would recommend you to start with JSB King 25 grain and then test other pellets (taking into consideration that having changed the pellets you have to clean the barrel carefully).
Hope you will get them soon and will be satisfied (as usually my clients are 🙂 )
