Q:

Edgun Stock Problems?

Just interested to know if, and how many, forum members have not gotten the OEM stock on their Edguns, and whether any have had quality problems with the finish? The hardware has been perfect so far, but the stocks seem to keep popping up as “different” from what was expected.

I know Mamcrackin got a strange, wood stock on his Lelya that he felt compelled to refinish.

Mine has a hairline crack in the buttstock. No, its not a scratch, it’s a crack in the finish. Here’s a picture of it fresh out of the box:

I’ve noted others saying they got something other than OEM finish.

I’m not trying to cause problems, or stir things up. However, $1550 is a LOT of money to get less than a fully inspected, perfect, factory rifle. We deserve that.

Comments?

Tony sent me an email May 30, asking if I wanted a discounted ($50 off) Matador .22. He said it had a scratch. I asked for a photo. He sent one. I noticed the gun had the wood-grain stock, so I declined – stating I would wait for the next batch of guns from Ed (with the normal stocks).

So, then Tony gets on the forum a few weeks ago stating that the most recent batch of Matadors have arrived. A week later, a couple forum members get their guns with “normal” stocks. My gun finally arrives early this week, and it is the scratched Matador with the wood stock (along with a $50 check from Tony). My heart dropped. Needless to say, I am as unsatisfied as I am confused. This all seems very disorganized for a $1500-2000 gun market.

I’ve emailed Tony (cc’d Ed) stating that I want a new, grey-stock Matador .22. I can only assume that translational error is to blame for these incidents. Of course, this does not explain why my rifle took much longer than others to arrive, as well as why I received a rifle that Tony had in stock a month ago.

Everything I read from previous Matador owners was how great the customer service was. I’m still waiting to receive that same level of service. And I’ve read numerous posts from Ed stating how proud he is that the owners of his guns are so happy with his craftmanship.

Well, I don’t mean to sound coarse, but I’m very frustrated. $1550 is a LOT of money to me. A LOT.

If/When this situation gets remedied, I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to return to this thread and post the resolution. I am hoping I get that opportunity.
