Extreme Benchrest 2014

Anyone see any results yet? I was looking at Alvaro’s Facebook posts and it looked like an upset with the old guys sliding a bit on preliminary scores. :biggrinn:

Two of Álvaro’s posts from yesterday. (translated from Spanish)
“News of the last hour that did not win because I only got 227 items and SR. Chris Warwick did 235 so that I do not have the possibility that what if I never imagined that Ted, just do 216 points so that you already know”

“A friend already, the result of the bench rest won Tim McMurray hit fighting place, Chris Warwick 2, 3, a place I do not remember me and 4to. So there you are the results it will be official tomorrow I think”

Good shooting , One of there day I would like to try that…
Mike

Ted, old goat,

Do agree with Brother Hemn

You worked hard in preparing for this event and we all had looked forward to your participation and share your disappointment. I would have loved to have seen you and this Edgun in the mix amoung this years competitors. Don’t hear from you like we use to, hope all is well, and may we continue to hear from you and your edgun experiences.

Very discouraging to say the least, but please share some pictures of your groups with said gun at 75 yard ranges and further, if available!

Cheers

My Dear Edgun Brother ,,, Tedd,,,

I am really sorry to hear that you couldn’t go to EBR this year,,, all our TAG forum friends and i were expecting the best result by you,,, and this is not fair what AOA did with you,,,they had to inform you 1st time,,,, they must not let you to prepare yourself and finally tell you that you are not allow to share ,,, this is shit ,,, :angrymob:

Wingman, I had plans to go to the NOT SO EXTREME EBR this year, until I found out that cast slug shooting guns weren’t allowed again this year.

After the last EBR, I called AOA at least once a month and they always assured me that cast bullet shooting airguns would be allowed there this year. I saved up my vacation days and I was looking forward to going this year.

Around May-June, AOA told me that I couldn’t shoot my 30 cal R3 Matador long that I converted to a .257 cal cast bullet shooting gun. It has a 28″ long TJ’s .257″ barrel and the initial results were looking promising. It shoots my cut down Lyman 257420, 54 grain cast bullets at 880 fps. I get around 25 regulated shots with the reg set at around 155 bar.

AOA told me that a .257″ cast bullet at 885 fps was more than their backstops could handle. I offered to bring a 3 foot square, 3/16″ thick steel plate to add to their backstop. They told me that my missed shots would travel out to the road behind the range. I told them that I didn’t think that I could completely miss a 3 foot square target at 75 yards. I had no luck convincing them to let me shoot my .257″. I then just didn’t do any more tuning on the setup as it wouldn’t work at the EBR.

For around 6 months, I have had the same 30 cal, .300″ groove, .294″ land, 1 in 26″ twist TJ’s barrel that Mike used to win the EBR this year. I haven’t tried it out yet. With health, family and work issues, I have only been able to shoot “BB” guns a few times this year. Getting old sucks, BUT, I guess that it beats the alternative!

I will now have to try the 30 cal TJ’s barrel out on my 30 cal R3. The last time at the range, I did manage to shoot a 5 shot .477″ one hole group at 100 yards with my 25 cal R3 long with a BSA Lonestar barrel, but; that is another story.

quote SECoda:

Top five places are all .30 caliber. My buddy Alvaro took 4th who won last year. :suprisedn: Tim got 8 X’s – wow! Chris got 9. 😯

And #6 used .177! Now that’s impressive and gets you thinking
Would love to know which pellets he used!

Awny

Coda do you know if they shot lead bullets? Wasn’t that an issue last year?

I do like that Tim took his USFT and cleaned their proverbial clocks. He would have shot at 100 yards/meters too I am sure. 🙂

Wing, you got a point there. Why not 100?

Have i told you guys lately : The BobCat is FUGLY !! :sadn: :sadn: :sadn:

Let me see……. :3: never heard that before!

Well done to all that competed.. no Edguns this year? Old Goat?
Were cast bullets allowed this year?

Now lets see you guys push that EBR to the world standard of 100 meters and then we will watch the Smooth Twist FX boys drop off like flies! 😆 WTF is with only 75 yards?

Beluga! 😯
