Q:

First crony shot string…

OK so I was interested to see what my SS would do with the HI-FLO bottle, striker weight, 18 barrel, shooting .22 Kodiaks. Here’s what the crono said. 21 shots, 2500 psi down to about 1750. Wondering if this sounds about right. Seems pretty consistant over all. My first recorded string.

1/ 1191
2/ 1211
3/ 1189
4/ 1169
5/ 1176
6/ 1174
7/ 1190
8/ 1184
9/ 1169
10/ 1174
11/ 1173
12/ 1174
13/ 1180
14/ 1175
15/ 1179
16/ 1176
17/ 1167
18/ 1160 (POI goes down hill from here)
19/ 1150
20/ 1136
21/ 1110

I know the general rule seems to be keeping Kodiaks in the 950 to 1000 fps range for accuracy, but I’m getting great groups at these speeds. No flourecent lighting here.

Just a stock hammer maw.

Also, I’d say Heck Yaaa once again! Having the sensor that you’re taking the referred to notes from being the note of just over a foot? It’s no supriZe to me those speeds are abtained! Also? @ most living, above water zones you are going to shoot. YOU SHOULD hear a bit of a CRACK. To much loud noises can damage hearing, and so one may not “hear” the crack…. 8)
Anygoin, you get my thoughts? :11

My hearing is shit Matthius, years of playing drums in RnR bands, maybe that’s why I can’t quite hear a crack. Sure heard/felt the sonic crack the Space Shuttle made today coming in to Edwards Air Force base though lol.

those are about the same # I get from my .25

Whooa, likely just me, but, I always thought of putting those chronographs like two feet infront of the target also. Youknow, to tell you what sgoing on @ POI.

Yep, just haven’t tried that yet, but I will. This just came to mind… I was shooting my gun with HI Flo bottle, 24″ .25 cal barrel, and 31gr Kodiaks a while back. PW all the way up, got a 1014 for the fastest shot, the rest being high to mid 900’s… does that sound about right at least? Same crony at about the same distance away.

that sounds about the right place to be

How close are you to your chrony

I would say frame extender end about 12/ 15″ from first sensor. First time I shot a string with it, just took a couple shots thru it with some other configs/ guns before.

Yes, exactly. Back before I got all wandered off…. In there some place was how close to chrony :
What distance are you shooting groups at? I suspect that if it is close range, the pellet is staying supersonic the entire way.
?

How close are you to your chrony

OK some of you posted info as I was posting my last thread, looks like my numbers may be off. I’ll try again 2moro and see what it does. Either way, the gun is shooting very strong and true, guess that’s all that really matters in the end. I’ll see if I can get to what’s going on here.

Once again I just read- 2500psi and even down to 17? What in heck’s the gain to lower the Tank Pressure? Gain?
I found the 32 gr. 5.5mm to fit to snug in my .22 cal. 18″ barrel. @ the same day shooting, I found they rifled F’n awesome and “lited” the pellet to around, the 35 – 38 yd and totally had the weight to stay coursethrough turbulance from speed.Because of the tight fit though, It is necessary to have more “umPH” launching it.
Always a 3000 psi fill when I first had my rifle and after getting some knowledge DO like my gun tank @ 2700. That is for typical pellets\bullets. But with those to tight fitting ones I do go to 3000 still to start my shooting.
So what is the GAIN of even lower?

Well I just googled the speed of sound because I’m not even sure how fast that is. At sea level, and at a certain temp, it is 1,116.4 fps. I’m quite a bit above sea level, and it was about 75 degrees here today, I think. If there was a sonic crack, I didn’t hear it @ 20 yrds. Really hoping my new crony isn’t spitting out bogus numbers. Maybe at my altitude and temp, I’m just a smidge under supersonic?.. don’t know
