First Stubby Shot String – Condor Hi-Flo Valve 14.3 450 ft
I wanted to see how many shots and how consistent they were with the Condor’s tank. 14.3 gr. 12″ barrel as a baseline for the new valve. I stopped shooting when the velocity started to drop. its a little hard to see. Basically I get about 80 shots (60 on graph) on a 2700 psi fill with a 50 fps spread startimg at 845 and peaking at 905.

Is there anything you DON’T have from that shop?
I wonder where the extra baffles could be found, or if they would even be needed. Why not take a few out of your other shrouds and tuck them in and let us know if it made a difference. Or can these things be taken apart?

I have the big one on my Condor. It works great and is especially needed when I Move Stubby’s tank / Extreme valve on it. I guess if you use it on Stubby where the bushing is near the front of the barrel you can load it up with even more baffles??? Maybe 7-8?
For those of you needing a LOT of quiet, Randy has a 12″ shroud that extends about 11.5″ from the end of the shroud.
You have to specifically request it, as its not mentioned on the site. It’s the same price as the shorter ones.

BTW – I tested several different Stubby shrouds and I don’t know which one R&L will sell yet but the short one (3 baffles) only added about 3″ and was extremely light but it knocked out most of the noise. In the picture mine has the longer 4 baffled one. I am guessing there is a 6-7 db difference. I pull it off for hunting.
I have been thinking of adding STHP to the formula for PCPs but I don’t quite have enough data. It is tough to control all of the variables. My dehumidifed basement 20 yd range helps though. I see about a 6% velocity difference (reduction) from 35% to 85% humidty when temperature and pressure are constant. Varying temperature is tougher because our humidity drops as the temperature rises so I have to find a day when the outside humidty matches my basement’s controlled humidty but there is significant variation in the temperatures to test.
You are seeing high numbers for the hi-flo valve. It would be interesting to see a shot string with your setup.

Yes velocity is much more dependent on temperature and humidity than elevation we found.
I built the gun from Airfoce Parts ordered from them directly, Only ad on was the Tank and it was from Pyrmid Air High Flow, no mods at all done accept putting the parts together, no polishing or fine tunning.
I have been looking at those Stocks 😀 I’m not going to keep the Shroud on, if I did it would defeat the Purpose of having a Stuby LOLO.
I only put it on today cause it is Sunday and I don’t want an Old Regular Babtist to come strutting up my drive way with his Arse kicking boots on LOLOL.
By the way have you found any way to use the Fpds formula with the Elevations and Temperature reading figured into the equasion? Or is it still a shoot and see for now? 💡 I think I got 57 Fpds on the Hot day I tried it,, That was when I first put it together and used 2800 Psi for the test.

If you look at Randy’s prices at R&L Airgun Supply for the Stubby Extreme, everything else is priced pretty low so it is actually cheaper to buy it assembled from him. He isn’t really adding a mod or assembly charge. It’s cheaper to buy it from Randy than to buy the parts and build it myself with the Maddog stock. After using the Maddog stock for several thousands of shots now both in the field and on the bench I wouldn’t want this gun without it.

Today the temp is 73 degrees in the morning at 2400 ft elevation.
So Being a cooler day than the first try with mine, Here is 4 shots with my stubby, figured up with 450400 formula, 2700 fill Regular air force High Flow tank with extra hammer weight to make it a tolondor Stubby.
23 grain pellet= 36.53 Fpds energy 25.4 grain =41.42 fpds of energy, 31 grain pellet=44.11 fpds of energy, and 43.2 EJ=51.197 Fpds Of Energy.
On a Warm to hot day the Stubby Gets 54 Fpds of energy, so IMHO Temperature has more to do with the Fpds than elevation, considering the Other post I see.
In a Nut shell the Stubby is the best thing since Fire in the production of 25 caliber air rifles.
I used a shroud to get the reading, the neighbors are home, being that the this is Sunday 😀 and with the shroud off it sounds like a 22 magnum with whooping caught LOLOL 😀

But the Extreme would be the best for hunting larger game, as you’re not going to get off more than a few shots before the prey clears the area.

I think so for most of my shooting. I finally took a squirrel at 87 yards with Stubby and the Hi-Flo valve and a 26 gr Predator. The Predator still had 16 fpe left so it had plenty of power.
For opossums, ground hogs, armadillos (new to the area) and coons or shots beyond 100 yards the extreme valve is better and we have plenty of them critters around here. I really wanted the extreme valve for the Condor with the 28″ .308 and 9mm LW barrels for coyotes.
What is perfect, though, is I have both tank/valves and can swap the Extreme and Hi-Flo between the Stubby and Condor depending on the application.
R&L sells the Stubby with the std Talon setup or the Hi-flo setup or the Extreme setup.

Stubby is quiet enough with the 4 baffle shorter shroud.
LOL – I still need a .308 or 9mm barrel/valve kit for my Condor they are working on for my urban coyote hunting I do sometimes. I am supposed to test them when they get them a little further along. I want a bare minimun of 100 fpe (Ishould see that with Surefire slugs in my .25 barrel on the Condor) with a heavier slug but am hoping for 150+ fpe. I already know they are above that with the 9mm but I would prefer a better ballistic coefficient out of the .308 barrel if possible for more range rather than more power. I really need accuracy out to 100+ yards.
