First Stubby Shot String – Condor Hi-Flo Valve 14.3 450 ft
I wanted to see how many shots and how consistent they were with the Condor’s tank. 14.3 gr. 12″ barrel as a baseline for the new valve. I stopped shooting when the velocity started to drop. its a little hard to see. Basically I get about 80 shots (60 on graph) on a 2700 psi fill with a 50 fps spread startimg at 845 and peaking at 905.

These are the 12″ .25 15 shot strings for Stubby Extreme. You get another 5-7 decent shots out of it but the velocity is dropping after about 20+ shots. Contrast that with the Hi-Flo where I get way over 60+ consistent shots. For hunting though I think 20+ is a good number and Stubby is a dream to carry around and shoot off of a tree, etc compared to my Condor. With the shroud the noise is slightly more than my Marauder 25 – but not by much. Perfectly acceptable in my subdivision. It’s very loud w/o the shroud.

We have some cool humid weather (55 F and 76%) so I chrony’d Stubby with the Extreme valve and 12″ .25 barrel and shroud on and I am seeing the following for some real world numbers. Fill to 2700 psi. It is very quiet with the shroud. [Updated with Hi-Flo valve data] This is the best PCP I own but if you get it – get it with the .25 cal barrel. I have not found a pellet yet that doesn’t shoot well. My 22 barrel is more finicky like my 22 Condor and likes Kodiaks, JSBs, and the standard lot, etc. It also has the obvious power/efficiency improvement. For hunting aorund my house I have been using exclusively Predators and they are deadly accurate and my farthest shot is a sparrow at 78 yards (lucky shot). I checked the Predator stability out to 60 yards and the .25s are very good.

Oh and it is good for the 22 or 25 barrel which I put on today.
I put a newly designed shroud on it. I am not sure if they are yet for sale. The front barrel bushing is replaced by a blued threaded bushing that the shroud screws on. It is a necessity and quite the cannon without it. I’ll post a picture in a bit. We tried a shorter 3 baffle version which is fine for the hi-flo valve but the extreme valve was better with 4 baffles. The goal was to be acceptable in a typical neighborhood backyard.

I assume the “Extreme” and “Hi-Flow” have an Old Testament “Wrath of God” muzzle report?
Have you tried to quiet any of them? The Stubby Extreme looks really fine, but I wonder if our forum locals can tame the noise.

No. We only have done testing varying humidity and temperature at the lower altitude. My last post on consistency was only for the lower elevation testing and different temperatures and humidity levels. I have no idea yet why we see better consistency at the low location.
I only have one set of baselines at the higher altitude so far to compare to. We will be doing more testing but the humdity levels tend be relatively constant and low at the 6000 ft location.
That comment you quoted was before we isolated main difference as humidity levels at the lower location in our latest test if that makes sense although elevation has a small but noticeable efft (about 3%).

Are you sure it is the altitude?
We see about a 3% velocity change when temperature and humidity are close to the same because of our elevation differences (higher is faster).
We are finding humidity has a bigger impact on performance than the altitude difference. I did testing at 35% and 85% humidity with temperature, fill pressure, pellet, all other variables, etc unchanged and we see as much as a 6% velocity difference (less humidity is faster).
We only looked at consistency in our shot strings and shot counts generally and they were similar in all tests.
How does elevation change the performance and consistancy?
I put the Stubby extreme valve/tank on the Condor 22 24” barrel and tried a few different pellets. The Kodiak and BD went supersonic. Here are the avgs (10 shots).

I stuck in the “extreme” tank/valve and filled to 2700 psi with the 12″ Stubby barrel. Idid a quick 6 shots over the chrony but will run the complete string from 3000 psi later on but initial results were as follows:
4 shots 14.3 Benj Disc 1034 fps avg (vs 875 avg hif-flo)
1 shot 21.14 Kodiak 901 fps (vs 795 avg hi-flo)
1 shot 32.4 Eun Jin 758 fps (vs 575 avg hi-flo)
at near sea level this was really impressive. I see about 975 fps with Kodiaks from my Condor with the 24″ barrel at this altitude so the Stubby is within 75 fps).

Sounds like the Hi-Flo is the best for all around shooting.
